I wasted quite a bit of time trying to find this store yesterday to buy a gift for a friend's birthday. I got lost & called the directions and got their answering machine but no one called me back. When I finally found the store there was a sign on the door that they closed June 10. It would be very helpful to have that on their answering machine to save people from a wasted trip. read more

Was in Franklin and saw a candy truck and stopped at the Schakolad Chocolate Factory. All of the chocolate is made there and the place has something for every sweet tooth. They have items like caramel and chocolate covered caramel apples, chocolate covered strawberries, tons of Easter chocolates, and trays of miniature chocolates along with sugar free! What I really liked was the chocolate classes they offer and I plan on doing one in the future. I bought a small sampler...big mistake. I should have bought the large sampler the chocolates were so good, wonderful buttery texture, and great chocolate flavors. These chocolates are really decadent. read more

This new location is much less crowded and the chocolates are good but not great. The problem comes with customer service. They used to give a sample with purchase. I spent $40 and I never even got a thank you, let alone a sample. My questions were answered, but not in a friendly manner. Every other chocolate store I've been in has always given samples, even without a purchase. I'm wondering if the ownership has changed from the old location. Bring back the friendly, accommodating service! I'll be looking to other chocolate stores in Nashville. read more

Tons of chocolate selection! They have an Oreo covered in even more chocolate. I like that the whole room was filled with so many selections of chocolate. You can pay per pound like i did. Been coming to this place since it opened many years ago. Quality of chocolate has changed significantly-for the WORST! It's not extremely bad but nothing like it used to be. It's be hard to tell the difference if compared in blind taste tests with some chocolate off the shelf and Stover/Hershey.. i used to give this chocolate as gifts and this year-everyone has mentioned the quality and freshness has significantly changed! Nothing special anymore. Don't know how long the chocolate has been sitting on shelf's. There is so much chocolate sitting around on shelfs everywhere and I'm sure no one is keeping up with 'consume by' dates since it's all wrapped in clear cellophane. Nothing special about this place anymore and very disappointing as it used to be so good. USED TO BE!!! Not anymore. I was visiting TN from CA. My friend bought me a box of chocolates from here as a gift and each one was so PRETTY I almost didn't want to eat them, but of course I did anyway! The box it came in was high quality and classy. The chocolates themselves are decorated differently such as gold patterns, pink, white, different shapes even hearts, etc. They almost look like chocolates made for royalty haha. The taste was yummy too like high quality chocolate and not your run of the mill chocolate from a candy bar taste. I can't review the actual store because I didn't go in, but I can definitely recommend their chocolates. Apparently you can order their chocolates online too, which is something my other friend visiting with me looked into doing because once we got back to California she was craving more of their chocolates. So that says a lot that even from states away that we were still thinking about these chocolates from TN. read more

We went on a tour at the chocolate factory. This is not the first time we've been on a chocolate tour. The girls who run the tour were friendly, helpful and very informative. We had a great time tasting the different chocolates from different parts of the world and building a solid chocolate house and decorating. Having a competition with other groups made it more fun for the family. Then after you dunk pretzels, marshmallows, and Oreo cookies which you decorate them. This was a great place to bring the kids or even just a date night with the wife or significant other for some good, not-so-clean fun!! The absolutely best part is that you don't leave empty handed. We each took about 1/2 lb of chocolate with us for free. This tour and fun far exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend to anyone. It's really a great time. read more

Leaving Tennessee after our first wonderful visit & I was feeling sad. Because I had read about the amazing chocolates made there online, I decided this would be our last stop enroute to the airport. Boy was that a smart move! It cheered up my goodbye dramatically! I came with an empty Tupperware and filled it with an assortment of their delicious individual chocolates. The chocolate at this place is really, really good. I had three different pieces and it's undoubtedly top two chocolate in all of Middle Tennessee. They've got a lot of selection, and the place is really nice. The customer service is top notch. They are really nice, they have a great sense of humor, and they don't take themselves to seriously, and they clearly love what they're doing, and this place is part of a chain? Unbelievable! Godiva has nothing on this, and the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is pretty much garbage in comparison. The only issue: the prices. No slice of greatness is worth a massive $32 per pound. It's beyond outrageous; it's beyond highway robbery; it's beyond junk bond manipulation. It's would be as if you could rob Fort Knox. I just can never justify the prices in future. Now, someone who has more money than brains could go there regularly, and many people say I'm already there, but that's not saying much. It's muy expensive, and it's well beyond my means. I've been here 4 times and the doors have been open once. They're not open on Sunday and they close at 6 every other day, so if you're employed your options are Saturday or good luck fighting traffic. The other time it was closed and I have no idea why (I did not know the hours, so it could have been that) and finally on the fourth attempt I made it through the doors. Most chocolate joints I would have given up after the second attempt, however this is the crack they give you at Arrington Vineyards.. like they say, the first one's always free... after the hit at Arrington I found myself drawn to this place. Like Paul K., I first had a taste of Schakolad's chocolate at Arrington Vineyards. The raspberry truffle was one of the best pieces of chocolate I ever had and immediately decided to seek out more. Unfortunately it was on a Sunday so I cried to myself when I got there to find it closed, no satisfying my chocolate craving that day. I finally made it out there when it was open and OMG (yes, in all caps) this is the best chocolate I have ever had. They have a great assortment of truffles (which they have for you to sample), bark, chocolate covered pretzels and cookies, you name it....and its all DELICIOUS. I think we came out of there with one of everything to try. My favorites so far are the peppermint bark and the key lime truffles. My husband is swearing by the whiskey peach truffles. All chocolate is made in house and it looks like they do some custom work as well if you're looking for something for a special occasion. I would definitely recommend getting a box (or 5) as a gift for someone(the other 4 to keep for yourself) with a major sweet tooth. I thoroughly enjoy Schakolad and will be a customer for as long as I can be! I went in a couple of months ago to schedule a tour with some friends for a mom's night out. That's when I met the owner and a few of the staff and you can tell they love their jobs. Very friendly, loved telling me all about the business and what they do, telling me jokes and giving me a couple of samples to try. It's like the place is a party and they are hosts having a great time. Our group participated in the tour earlier this month and it was fantastic! You learn all about how chocolate is made, sample different percentages of dark chocolate up to white chocolate, there was a chocolate house building contest, dipped and decorated our own goodies, decorated our own chocolate bar, and all while getting to eat as much as we could from the chocolate fountain. It was absolute heaven! The staff was very friendly and very patient with our OCD tendencies when decorating. To top it all off the chocolates are EXCELLENT! I love to support local businesses, but I honestly have never liked a local chocolatier until now. I will be back often (and will be hitting the gym more to make up for it!) and can't wait to purchase some of the interesting molded pieces they have for stocking stuffers. If you have a chance to do the tour, grab a few friends and go for it. It was a great night out! read more

This place is pretty tasty - by far the best thing they have going for them is the raspberry nibbles from Arrington. Its cool they pair local flair with this chain 'by hand' chocolate maker out of Florida, but it still doesn't have the individual flair of a truly artisan experience. I'd compare Schakolad to a slightly better Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory; they even put a lot of emphasis and business on personalizing treats for corporate sales. Still, I mean - its chocolate and its good, there are just much better options for your dollar in Nashville proper, but if you are jonsing for a treat in Cool Springs its worth a stop. I still recommend sticking with the awesome offering straight from Arrington though ;) read more

Thought I'd stop in after having dinner nearby. We walked in and saw a dozen people inside hanging out with drinks and chatting up. We stood there for a few minutes and since no one spoke to us, I figured maybe it was some private event and we left without being helped, or even acknowledged. We popped into the pie store a few doors down and bought desert. We saw three other groups walk into the chocolate store and they did exactly what we did. They stood around for a minute and all walked out without being addressed by any employees from this place. The open sign was on, and the hours listed showed they were open. Don't waste your time. As a local Realtor, I have the team at Shakolad make up special gifts for my clients. They have solid chocolate keys, guitars, the shapes of the state, just about anything you can imagine. I even got my hairdresser a chocolate hairdryer, scissors, and comb for his birthday! And, they have the cutest boxes that are shaped like houses! We fill them with truffles and, voilà! The perfect closing gift. Choose from dark chocolate milk chocolate white chocolate... Even sugar-free chocolate! Love this place! Some of the best chocolate in town! I recently visited Schakolad while on vacation from California. The entire staff was super friendly and I was greeted and welcomed by the owner as soon as I walked in. I took the tour and it was so much fun! I really enjoyed learning about, tasting, and even learning the proper way to hand dip, chocolates. Not only is this a yummy chocolate shop, but the staff is also quite friendly. Went in yesterday (7-9-16), and was thrilled to find they had just made my favorite (marshmallow and caramel with milk chocolate and sea salt). As the gal was boxing them up, I mentioned to my son that we'd need to stop by a gas station and buy a bag of ice as we live just over an hour away and didn't want my treats to melt. A voice from the back yelled out to the clerk to give me a couple of ice packs. Genius! They gave me two good sized ice packs that allowed us to finish our shopping at Cool Springs, and our candy was perfect when we arrived home. I would give them 5 stars, but the selection, while delicious, is kind of small, and they tend to run out of my favorites. They also no longer make the most perfect chocolate I've ever had (chocolate, rice crispies and caramel), so that's a bit of a bummer. read more

I really hate to write bad reviews, but my recent experience with this business DEMANDS it. Here's what happened: I placed a special order with S. almost a week in advance of my husband's birthday. I had about 30 people coming to the party and so needed something substantial to feed everyone! Anyway, I go to the shop the day of the party- 2 hours before, to be exact- and when I arrive, there's a sign on the door that says, "sorry for the inconvenience, but we're closed for a private event"!!! I received no phone call, nothing. I called and left a message and still have not received a call back. I was FRANTIC! I had to go to Publix and buy whatever they had there- not the special thing I had ordered, which was a total bummer. Bottom line: this is totally unprofessional behavior. If I did this in my business, I would'nt have any!! Shame on them, also, for not calling me back and trying to make it right. Not worth it!!! read more

I purchased a tour of the Schakolad Chocolate Factory off Groupon about a year ago. I had never been there before or had their chocolate. Neither my bf or I were particularly impressed when we got there because it seemed awfully small for a tour. But we were pleasantly surprised and ended up having a terrific experience. We learned all about making chocolate and got to try plenty of different samples. Their chocolate is excellent, staff was great, very informative tour and tasting. Highly recommend going on the tour if you get a chance. It was a lot of fun! read more
