Last week this company conducted an inspection for a potential buy. The report mentions the normal things (and when I was there with him he told me there else really no "big issues" with the house). Couple days later I go under house and immediately see a path where water has eroded soil around and under a support beam in the foundation. Not one mention of it in the report. Not a picture. So I paid a guy who obviously did not go under the house (and it is on a hill so you can stand and walk under it) and it took a layman buyer to find, with zero effort, a structural foundation issue that may cost tens of thousands to repair. There are many home inspectors out there - I'd move past this company as they are obviously mailing in their effort. I'd have given zero but it won't let me. read more

My husband and I hired Erich Scharf to inspect a home that we were purchasing. His report was very comprehensive and seemed like he did a good job. We discussed the report after he performed the inspection and shared photos. All was well, until the pest inspection a few days later. The pest report came back with a water leak at the hall bathroom toilet, subfloor, floor joists, and sewage pipe was discolored, and fungus growing on sub floor. The problem seem obvious after looking at the photos from the pest company. Overall, I'm disappointed with the quality of the inspection, especially for the price tags of $460.00. That deal fell through so when I came along and put an offer in on the same property the report came to me...part of full disclosure apparently. The report was a solid analysis of the property, detailed and useful and hitting all the major points. It was paid for by someone else so I wasn't sure if Erich would be willing to talk to me about it but he was totally receptive; I wound up speaking with him late on a Sunday evening. I would have been happy to pay for his time but he declined twice. Missed Broken dishwasher, fan in bathroom, hallway lights and foyer lights, porch light. Had an electrician come out and fix it, said the lights were wired incorrectly. Had to pay 375 for an inspection that saved me no money and he would not refund my money. Claims that In between the time he inspected the house and I moved in (only a few days) the tenants broke all of that and rewired the light circuit incorrectly. Why would the tenants we-wire a light circuit within a couple days of moving out causing all hallway lights to be inoperable. read more
