I ordered a sandwich here and unfortunately found mold both on the outside of the bun and laced within it. Management was nice and had no problem with my request for refund, however I will not be returning to this location. There are many factors that contribute to the growth of mold on food. As a result I just feel as though there is a good chance that proper precautionary measures were not being taken. There is also no guarantee that employees will take more intuitive in the future, therefore i rather not take the risk. read more

The food is ok at best. My cheese pizza was almost like garlic bread with a lot of cheese and a bare dusting of tomato sauce. But this store is massively in need of adult supervision. Let's count the fail points. First, the restaurant lost my food for over ten minutes. The manager on duty later told me that someone set my pizza aside as a to-go order. One other employee said that a ticket never even printed in the kitchen. No effort at an apology or even offering to make me a hot pizza. Drinks. The Coca Cola Freestyle machine was out of almost all diet drinks. I ended up getting iced tea, which was fine. Except -- they were putting the iced tea away before 8:30 PM. I basically had one cup of iced tea. So much for refills. And speaking of putting things away before 8:30, they were already clearing tables and putting chairs away. The online information lists a closing time of 10 PM. Even if this location closes at 9 PM, cleaning up this early is unnecessary and made for a very unwelcoming experience, especially when paying over $11 for fast food. read more

He cleaned off our table and went back to handling food WITHOUT washing his hands! As if that wasn't bad enough, he came out to the lobby to empty the trash and then went back to handling food, again without washing his hands! I've quietly received more than my share of horrendous food and service from Bastrop restaurants over the past 20 years. So my new goal is to memorialize each new disappointment on Yelp. Last week I thought I would bring home Schlotzsky's for dinner. The order in front of me took entirely too long because the girl at the counter had no idea the restaurant was participating in a fund raiser for the high school. Quite simply, put your receipt in a box and they would receive a portion of the total receipts. The attempt to figure out this complicated process was painful to watch. When it was my turn to order I had to explain what a "medium original" was after asked, "wut?" Regardless, order placed, and the wait began. Now, for comparison, I had recently gotten the same order from the new Lockhart location with no complaints. Welp, I received two sandwiches in a sack and noticed there were no pickles. As I thought this was standard, I went back to ask for them. I was three feet from three people and no one made eye contact. So I just asked for pickles, which I said I thought were included. With attitude, I was told you have to ask for them (they go back to what they were doing). So tired of crap service, I told them that's exactly what I did and they were included with my order at Lockhart. So the manager (?) snapped back that "well, you have to ask for them here." My retort was "how many times?" She ordered her underling to "get him some pickles." Having had enough, I went home. The sandwiches were wrong. They made two turkey originals. Par for the course. I guess I'm glad that if these folks can't manage to provide decent service and make the correct order, they aren't pursuing careers with any greater responsibility or impact on society. read more

The restaurant was in a very dirty state. The service at the register was okay and the food was acceptable. Flies were coming out of the trash cans. I cut my leg on the bench on the north wall just trying to sit down because staples were sticking out. The ceiling is riddled with tooth picks. She cut my husband off twice before we were finished ordering and then couldn't believe we were trying to "add more"... I get my half order of pizza and sandwich... just look at the pictures. Dreaded coming here as my kids picked it and all my previous visits years ago was an unmanaged high school hangout in the kitchen. Wow, they must be under new management. Immaculately clean. The cashier, Chris, was extremely professional. The shift manager came over to mark the menu board that something had just run out for the night and they way he communicated with the cashier was something out of the 50's, pure respect and clear signals both ways. I couldn't decide between a yummy Avocado Turkey or a French Dip but eventually decided on the turkey. Knowing I was already exhibiting indecisiveness, when asked what kind of chips I wanted, I simply replied, "Oh... you decide." I was met with a very polite, "I'll give you MY favorite chips." When at the window I was thrilled to learn they accepted Apple Pay (since I couldn't find my card). I took my food and headed on my way. We stopped here on the way out of Lost Pines and it was not anything great. I like the updated decor with the big polka dots, but the food was weak. I've had Schlotzsky's several times before, but was disappointed by the food this time. I had half a sandwich that was mostly bread (and I wasn't as jazzed by the bread as my husband, and I usually love bread) and a bowl of weird potato soup that was capable of steaming even once it was cold. Science experiment? It's just a sandwich shop, but give me Subway or Quizno's over this. Service-wise, ok. The manager was super "on" while we were there to where it was bordering on uncomfortable, but the girl (who was nice enough) had to look up what was on one of the sandwiches, which was annoying because I was curious about a couple and that ended me asking anymore questions. I have been to this location several times. Most of the time the customer service is. I do recommend coming in on a week day before 3pm. The staff at that time is usually the "adukt" staff and my orders are always correct. The fee times I have have come after 5 pm the staff is alot younger I call i the "teen" shift. That is when I have had issues with my orders. Adding mustard not taking onions off those sorts of issues of. I love the food at Schlotzsky's. Which is why I continue to come to this location because the next closest one is 40 miles. I'm not a fan of the franchise owner Luke at this location. I spent a lot of time here while in Bastrop. They have THE BEST internet connection in town and made my work days very pleasant. They also have the best iced tea in town. I was a bit surprised to find out the the only drinks they don't"t offer refills on is the coffee, but the cinnabuns are a tempting aroma all day long! (and Delish!) Their food is always fresh and good, though the pizza oven had broken down the day we were going to get one. (I think it was the Carb Overload Gods protecting my low carb diet) They have great salads for those watching the carb intake too! I would have given it a 5 star rating, but the ladies room only had one working toilet for about 3 weeks, and there was no sign posted so it got a bit nasty when it could not be flushed.
