I love Schlotzsky's as a chain, I love everything on their menu. But in recent years, their facilities are usually in decline, needing a broad chainwide facelift. This location however must be newer or an odd exception. It's appearance in good shape. That aside the service here is polite and nice, food came quick enough. They have one of the danged Freestyle machines I hate, and it literally ran out of lemonade mid-pour, taking with it about 20 other cross-over choices. Ugh, I flippin' HATE these machines! This is literally one of the worst fast food restaurants locations by far only because they literally NEVER get orders right. We ordered a chicken sandwich, got roast beef. Ordered a salad with no meat, got a chicken caesar salad. Ordered two sandwiches one day, we only got one and the one we got was wrong. Just now we ordered a meal with a sweet tea, they handed us a soda, we handed it back and requested a sweet tea and then they gave us an unsweet tea. So my bff just moved to Texas (Irving-Las Colinas) he kept driving past this placed and wondered what it was, so I am visiting to help him unpack n for my birthday . Thank goodness it wasn't my birthday meal. We both got a giant French dip. N 2 drinks - $36.33 I nearly dropped but I figured we are in Tx. And steak must be amazing. I was salivating with anticipation. It was brought to our table - looked like a 10inch round pie, bread looked amazing served with pickle spear n Aj jus sauce. I looked at the meat it that's what it was. I'm telling you I don't know what part of the cow this came from but it was the WORST meat I have ever had and I've had some bad meat. I was in the area and had the craving for their bread. I ordered my traditional classic Ham and Cheese, chips and a drink at the drive thru. Service was fast! So fast, I almost didn't have time to fish out the correct change from my cup holder. The window crew were efficient, friendly and had me on my way very quickly. They left a tub of turkey on their counter for at least 45 minutes, with dirty ceiling vents blowing onto it. Disgusting. Look at the time stamps on these pictures. Schlotzsky's headquarters and the Health Dept. need to investigate this location. Waited 20 minutes for cold potato soup and undercooked pizza. Soda machines were out of Dr. Pepper & root beer, and two of the three people working there don't speak English so they couldn't understand that the soup was cold. The one person who spoke English, a young girl, said the credit card machine "may not be working". Schlotzsky's headquarters needs to do some serious Quality Control on this store and if this store is any indication of how this restaurant chain has degraded, I would recommend avoiding this place like the plague -- unless you want to catch the plague. Before I say anything I must praise the team at this location. They took a bad situation that was in no way their fault and made it better. Charlie (the manager) was extremely helpful and totally understanding of my frustration and after talking through it all she was able to fix it to the best of her ability. Most people don't read too far in to reviews so I had to state that first. Now for the story ... So I ordered through DoorDash and I must say that I wish I would have ordered directly from the store. DoorDash won't update the stores menu but ALSO does not provide the store with the customers phone number in case there are issues and the customer needs to be asked about substitutions. I have worked in restaurants that have used DD and had similar issues so I know this wasn't just the manager trying to lie or manipulate the situation, I know she was telling the truth because I have experienced the same problem before when I was in her position. On the menu was chicken noodle soup, the one thing I was craving more than anything today, so I ordered it. This specific store doesn't carry that item but because DD makes everything impossible, it hasn't been removed from the options offered. Normally I would expect a call asking for a substitution preference but in this case, DD did not provide the store with my phone number so they substituted broccoli cheddar soup so that at least I got something. This was a logical action given the options the store had. They knew I wanted soup but had no way to ask me what to sub so in their position I would have done the same thing. Unfortunately I am allergic to broccoli, weird I know but I am. Luckily I smelled it before I ate it and although I did cough a bit just from being around it, nothing major happened and I am ok. I put in for a refund through DD and even though my meal was $12, DD only refunded me $4. This is unacceptable on DoorDash's part. It's their fault that my meal was incorrect. I proceeded to call the store and after explaining what had happened and that I was incredibly upset, I was met with nothing but kindness and understanding from the associate and then the general manager of the location. Restaurant jobs are hard enough without a 3rd party like DoorDash making it more difficult for the employees working there. If you order from this location, and I truly believe you should because the rest of my food was amazing, then PLEASE do it from the store and not a 3rd party app. It's more accurate and IF something goes wrong on their end (highly unlikely since they can communicate with their customers if needed) then they are able to fix it and from my experience they are willing to do so in the appropriate situations. This does not mean they will fix everything for free no matter what so please don't take advantage of such a great team. But I will definitely be ordering from here again and going directly through the store. I have cancelled my DoorDash pass for now after this mess up they caused and will only be going through the actual restaurant any time I want food from now on. You handled my frustration with grace and patience and I appreciate that, especially since I know I can be a little blunt and harsh when my food is messed up. Highly recommend to try if you haven't already, for a $25 sandwich it could have been made the old fashioned way with the lettuce and tomato and purple onions instead of asking for it every-time and to be sliced completely. My love for Pizzas urges me to explore new places frequently. A vegetarian by choice, I usually don't have many options in pizzas and there were not many options at Schlotzsky's as well except to go with a veggie pizza. I had have many veg pizzas at various places and still this one had a unique and relishing taste. The pizza crust was delicious, the sauces and vegetables adding to the flavour of it. Along with a pizza, I also ordered a Cheese Margherita flat bread which was indeed delectable. The barbeque sauce, hot sauce and the margherita cheese infused within the bread made it a real pleasure for Italian food lovers like me. I had a very bad experience with one of the attendants, who is supposed to serve me at the drive-thru. Instead, he insisted me to come and pick up the food inside. I insisted to serve me the food through the window, as I ordered the food online and requested for drive-thru and the order receipt clearly says that. But this guy was behaving like a thug and rowdy. He was shouting and asking me to come inside. He is so lazy and I could see my food at his hands stretch. As I was arguing, he shut the window and brandishing some kind of rod. I refused to go inside and pick up the my order. he is very irresponsible and not customer oriented. During this pandemic, customer is clearly given a choice to either pick up or curbside delivery or drive-thru. This is one of my favorite lunch sandwich spots with or without family and friends. I have multiple items off their menu, but I seem to so favoritism to the Turkey Bacon Club on wheat with spicy mustard instead of mayo. The staff is always friendly. I love all the upgrades they've done inside the store including adding the Coke machine that allows you to select different type of drink options. Multiple times I've been to this location and the service was understaffed and rude, today was the worst. Tried to go to the drive-through was in line with eight other cars two cars ahead of me place their order and then the line start moving the car in front of me moved on and left then it was my turn at the window waited 10 minutes they never asked for my order. Cars behind me were honking I went ahead and drove around the front and walked it when I walked in the girls the counter said to talk to somebody else about why they weren't taking the orders guy came to the back with the headset on got in a fight with her about customers are not gonna get to take orders at the drive-through. I left and went and told the five or six cars they were still waiting in line what was up totally unacceptable way to run a business even if they are short of staff. I ordered online and in to pick up my order. The staff looked everywhere for it and I showed them the order email I had received. They quickly put it together and the food was great fixed exactly the way I wanted it. (In the meantime the online order third party company sent me an updated email-they cancelled my order and would refund the money.). Competition is stiff on this busy roadway/intersection near 635 and Macarthur, North Irving. There are 10 to 20 delis, bakeries and sandwich shops all within a mile radius. Any restaurant aiming for success in this area needs to stand out from the crowd. Schlotzky's fails to aspire to anything loftier than being a run-of-the-mill fast food sandwich shop. As soon as I entered this location, the impersonal service immediately turned me off. To them, I was just a number (as they handed me my placard) with very little choice or say in the customization of my order. The order counter was irregularly placed, a line angled in from the door due to the inconvenient placement of a soda fountain. As soon as patrons came in, I felt rushed and crowded at the register. My sandwich and salad order was assembled out of my sight; is there anything more fast food than this? Luckily it took about 5-8 minutes for the staff to deliver my food so I got a chance to observe the brightly painted dining room. Seemed comfortable enough except for the weird positioning of the kitchen corner entrance intruding into space. The patio dining area looked a lot more pleasant, less busy and more relaxing. Schlotzsky's boasts a diverse menu of salads, soups, sandwiches, baked goods including pizza! My medium sized Hawaiian sandwich looked appealing on paper but tasted bland. No savory sourdough bread notes, very little of the ham or bacon stood out, and the sweet mango dressing hardly tasted of the namesake fruit. The salad was a more eye-catching option, nicely laid out in a microwave safe clear-topped package. But as far as nutrition goes, Cranberry Apple Pecan Chicken Salad receives a failing grade--too large a portion size with too much fat, presumably from the cheese. And what was up with the slimy odd-flavored grilled chicken? At least they offered fat-free raspberry vinaigrette as a dressing choice. Baked goods were the most disappointing--especially for a shop peddling fresh-baked Cinnabon. The chocolate fudge cookie I received was cold, dry and a waste of calories. Who knows how long they'd been sitting the deli case waiting for some unsuspecting patron to gobble them up? Online, Schlotzky's seems to get things right: remote ordering, informative nutrition menu, catering options. The Irving location also hosts a drive-thru. However as much as I want to support a home-grown Texas chain, I just cannot recommend Schlotzky's over the local Subway or Quizno's for a sandwich. But if you have to have your Cinnabon fix, nobody else along this part of the Macarthur strip offers the real thing. read more

You can never go wrong with a warmly toasted Schlotzky's sandwich! I always enjoy the different turkey sandwich offerings that they serve. For the first time I decided to try their broccoli soup, but wasn't happy with the lack of broccoli in my soup.
