This was the first time that the owner of the agency refused to provide a last name/resume/address/credentials/phone number/ANY VERIFIABLE INFORMATION for the sitter up front. She seemed to take it personally that I didn't take her word for it that her referral was flawless. But again, as a mom of three kids who travels regularly - I've learned the value in validating and doing a basic google search of the person I'm hoping to leave three small children with. On Monday, the owner wrote to me, "XX will reach out with a blocked call to introduce herself, if you miss her call, no worries, she will be there for you all on Saturday." I politely asked for a last name and a phone number, such that I could speak to her in advance of her standing in front of me and my kids before I leave to go to a wedding for six hours. The owner replied telling me no, I could not have any of that information because, "XX is very well established in our organization." Then she tried to push me by saying that there's only one other agency in the area and its not insured in NJ and is so large. This was consistent with the level of professionalism we experienced. By Wednesday morning, I still hadn't heard from the sitter or been given anything that I could independently verify. I emailed the owner to tell her this wouldn't work out. Magically, the sitter calls me within minutes of me hitting send and is now willing to make an exception and share her phone number. By this point (four days before the event), we have made other arrangements with someone willing to let me Google them in advance. This agency's sitters may all be amazing. But I've never once been told by an agency (or a competent babysitter, for that matter) that I can't see a copy of a sitter's CPR certificate, identification, or dated background check. In this day and age, we just can't take the chance and go with a "trust me, I run an agency" approach. Particularly when other reviews of this agency here and elsewhere indicate there have been issues of sitters not showing up or not being professional. The owner texted me to tell me that she would still charge us the sitter referral fee because she DID make a placement and it was my choice to cancel her. She and I have a different opinion on what a placement is - mine isn't "here is the first name of a person." She can keep the $20 though - seems like they need it more than we do. UPDATE: 10/25/2019 1) To re-iterate, we did NOT hire a babysitter and this is a review of the agency's policies, not the babysitter herself, since we found a different babysitter before this agency's sitter called us. 2) To be clear, the owner did not literally say "trust me, I run an agency." Instead, she argued that I did not need to see any supporting documents about the sitter (including her last name, a dated background check, or her phone number) because, as she literally texted to me, "I vet the sitter so clients don't have to." In three states and in five sitter agencies, I have always been sent more information and/or supporting documents or we have chosen not to use that baby-sitting agency. 3) The owner asserts that the babysitter called me several times and just did not leave a message. I do not believe this is true. 4) After texting me "as soon as you remove your yelp statement i will be happy to refund our 20.00 fee for scheduling n canceling a sitter," she did go ahead and refund the fee. To be clear, I did not request this refund. 5) The owner has told me multiple times by text message that she is contacting an attorney "in reference to slander and disrupting business on false pretenses."

As a working mother of three (ages 3-7-10) children, I've seen my fair share of child care centers…read more I have to admit, Just Children (Mt. Laurel) has been favorite! My youngest son has been attending Just Children since he was 18 months old. From day one, he was welcomed into a warm and nurturing environment. His lead teachers have been consistent. No turn overs like mentioned in other posts. To speak directly to the program, his day to day is a well-thought out mix of age appropriate activities, learning and free play. At 3 years old, he has already been taught his letters and numbers, and can read and write them, too! Throughout the day, I am provided text message video and photos, which makes me feel like I am still a part of what is going on! I love seeing his activities each day! There are a variety of enhancements my child receives at Just Children, which he didn't get at other centers. Touchscreen computers, Spanish lessons, and offerings for sports or dance classes! The staff at Just Children is well educated, friendly and warm. They care about my son - really, they do, and keep me updated on his progress. The other review I read mentioned something about a problem with communication at Just Children. As a parent of a child currently in the program, I couldn't disagree more. The director of the school has an OPEN office at the reception area. She greets the parents as they come in, and knows each child by name. The lead teachers in the room keep me informed about my child's day to day progress, and each evening I receive a communication from the teacher with notes, food, etc. They will even remind me of upcoming events, or if there was an issue my child had that day (this is never a surprise -- I'm always aware prior to the email). In my honest opinion, I wouldn't think to put my child in any other daycare center in the area. They say that actions speak louder than words...so I will also say that Just Children is so amazing that I have THREE neighbors who also send their children there. In fact, they are the ones who referred me to the center. Their children have all been attending since they were infants -- and most are now 4! Thank you, Just Children, for taking such amazing care of my child! You make a working mom feel so comfortable leaving their baby each day.

Picking your child's daycare can be SUPER overwhelming, but look no further. With convenient hours, AMAZING staff and fun filled days, this daycare center was the best option for our family. My daughter LOVES going to school everyday and cant wait to go back the next day. In the few short months shes been there I have noticed a significant increase in her speech, she mastered potty training with their help AND learned to put herself to sleep for nap time!! Give them a call and check the place out! I like it because its smaller so my daughter gets the attention she needs :) Every parent's dream! HIGHLY recommended!

Peppermint Tree is excellent when you have an only child! Even if you don't require child care,…read moreaffording your child that social interaction is huge for their growth! It is also an excellent place to prepare your child for Kindergarten so they won't go in overwhelmed and scared. At home we can provide structure and learning tools but it just isn't the same as a true school environment. My son gets excited to see his teachers & his friends. He looks forward to gardening, dance parties and art projects. His overall growth has also jumped leaps and bounds from when he first started last year. So much so we extended his hours from half to full day! We also LOVE that the classes are small & the teachers build a close relationship w/ every child. Touring other schools was quite scary seeing kids screaming and overwhelmed staff. I can assure you Peppermint Tree is not and never will be that way! You also have a built in Summer Camp w/ 2 pools to accommodate all age groups. Did I mention swimming lessons, class trips, gardening, ice cream days, etc? All those things are either part of class or an option to add on. So if you are on the fence about where or if you are going to enroll your child, Peppermint Tree is definitely the Best Choice!

Then they'd go inside from noon until 3 pm. This was their time to eat and sleep! Their naptime was 2 hours. So, if you want your 4.5 year old toddler to go to summer camp and nap for 2 hours this is your place. There were no other activities as promised on the schedule we were emailed to before camp began. The schedule showed that they were going to do arts, science and so many fun things. When I asked if he was doing any of these things I was told by his teachers that most of these were happening during his pool time. Really? Isn't the establishment's responsibility to ensure that all groups get to do these "fun things?" Why should a 4.5 yr old eat and sleep from 12 pm - 3 pm. There is plenty of time for his "teachers" to read books, engage them in fun/educational activities while they're inside. So really, all that money we paid for was only for 2 hours (run around in the playground and use the pool). Our child didn't learn anything, there were no educational activities as the written schedule showed, and we basically paid for 5 hours, 3 out of which were eat and sleep! I don't recommend this place whether it is for summer camp or as a daycare. Unless you want to use it as a babysitting place, sure, then it's fine. Just don't expect your child to learn here...

Do not recommend this place for first time daycare kids…read more Neither the teachers nor the director is prepared to handle new kids. Will let the kid cry it out in their chair starting from Day 1. No compassion showed towards kids, nor the ability to teach kids. They can only handle daycare ready kids. So if your kid is new, be prepared to pick them up by 10am, since the crying new kid is disturbing the other children. Can't say enough about the great care that Miss Alice, Miss Katie and the team provided for my kids. Especially through the pandemic creating a safe, clean and fun environment for all. Weekly themes and activities. Don't think they promote as much as they do for the kids such as bringing in external music, drama and sports programs, holiday shows, family days, and summers filled with daily fun activities including Monday guests like petting zoos, magicians, ice cream and water ice trucks etc, sports days, fun house/water slides and field trips to places like the zoo, aquarium, legoland and so much more. Also a great community of families that attend too. Check out their FB page to get a glimpse of some of the activities and energy. If you're in the Oaks area, they have a sister school that is also great and has been around for some time! We spent a summer there prior to WELC's opening!
