Holstein Schnitzel with Mashed Potatoes & Coleslaw
    James M.

Schnitzelz is a great little restaurant for breaded entrees. The interior has a whole vibe to it and the staff is friendly. They give realistic illustrations of the food they cook on their menu, and even have posters of them on the interior walls and outside window of their establishment. I had the Holstein Schnitzel with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The schnitzel is good and crunchy, and the egg and bacon topping tasted spectacular with the schnitzel. The mashed potatoes were delicious with the gravy included, and the coleslaw tasted fresh. The prices are very reasonable too for schnitzel. When I came back there for lunch, it was not as good as the first time, yet still satisfactory. I enjoyed the Schnitzel Burger with fries. The coffee was substandard and would not recommend ordering it. I also found out that they do not serve breakfast until January 20th of 2025. Schnitzelz is a great restaurant for dinner and those that enjoy different variations of schnitzels.

I was in Abbotsford for work and found this gem for lunch. I ordered the Hunter Schnitzel (you get 2) in a brown gravy with onions and mushrooms. The sides were fries and a bean salad. Food was delicious. The menu had several options for schnitzel's as well as burgers/sandwiches. The menu also should whey serve breakfast. Will definitely be back when I'm in town. Don't miss out.

Incredible deal for the money A belly full of tasty food I was totally full at the end The fries were really good No ketchup needed

Special ordered a pork schnitzel sandwich with mozzarella cheese and sweet marinara sauce.

We were in the mood for some schnitzel and happened to come across this little mom and pop shop while driving through Abbotsford. It certainly didn't look like much from the outside (or inside for that matter), but we were pleasantly surprised with the portion and taste of our pork schnitzel sandwiches and delicious french fries.

There was a nice feel to the room as it was not too loud. A great ambiance. We were given our choice of a couple of tables when we arrived. The service was okay. For appetizers my husband had the goulash soup and I had Hunter Spatzle. My husband said his soup was not as flavourful as he was expecting. My spatzle was supposed to have a mushroom gravy on it but there was not much gravy and the spatzle was not well drained. For entrees my husband had zigeuner schnitzel and I had the sole with baby shrimp and Riesling sauce. The schnitzel is very thin as opposed to the thicker cuts that are served at most Bavarian restaurants that we have gone to. It was very tender but my husband was disappointed with his meal as he prefers the thicker piece of pork. The sauce was just all tomatoes and he said it was very bland and not very interesting. My sole was good but not exceptional. We were going to have dessert but by the time our server came to ask if we wanted dessert we had lost interest. It is a beautiful room, the prices are average but overall we found the food was not to our liking. The ladies washroom was out of toilet paper. Awkward.

This is literally the only food review I've ever done on this app...it's possible there are a few others but I certainly haven't in over 10 years I'd thing. Anyways, do yourself a favor and eat here. This is a wonderful old school German/Austrian style restaurant. The type of place my German father…read moresought out when I was young and it certainly brought me back. The potatoes on the side were made with German speck and taste exactly as I knew them. The portions were hearty and we all cleared our plates without question. While there's no dedicated children's menu, a standard schnitzel should satisfy most kids palates, mine loved the spaezel and the charcuterie board was devoured by adults and children alike. The breads are very European, such as rye. Not for everyone, but fresh and tasty. What I really appreciated here was the owner making his rounds, having conversations with his regulars, making new customers feel welcomed and keeping traditions alive. You don't get that so often anymore, it's more about creativity, fusion, new, ratings etc. This was a traditional experience with delicious food and I will definately be back. Be warned, they're popular so you'll need to book in advance and they're old school, so call and leave a message! Worth it!
