This store has the snazzy new smart carts, I had never used one before! It was a really cool experience using one, as I had only seen them on TikTok and Instagram. It's a pretty easy process when you're doing actual shopping, grab items and put them in the cart. It records what you have and then pay on when you're finished. We also had someone look over the purchases on the way out, which maybe was for security? To me it seems easier to do regular shopping at that point, but I do understand wanting to take it to the next level. The store itself was clean and staff was helpful! read more

In the 3 years I have shopped at this Schnucks, I feel it has gone downhill. I do feel safe at the Richmond Heights location and love the location, friendliness of checkers, and cleanliness. But more often I find items I usually buy are not in stock. I've had to go to a competing grocery store for what I need, although it's not as convenient. Lucia's pizza, Lamb Weston hand cut french fries to name a couple that they no longer carry. Stocking can be an issue too as shelves can be devoid of certain items. I would guess that it is a corporate problem that this store is only getting whatever is in the warehouse, but it's still disappointing. read more

First time and although I just needed to pick up a few items it was a solid visit. Plenty of parking and no debris in sight. The walk up was also free of trash. The exterior signage is very viable from the road. The chain is more on the nicer, pricey side I've been told. I can agree, but also typically will shop this type of grocery store at home. I utilized their OTC area of CVS inside the business. I also made note of their wine, beer and liquor department. The bourbon section was strong. The area had a large variety of alcohol beverages. I like this schnucks. The parking lot is a little hectic. But it's a good location and clean. Everyone seems pretty nice there too.

If I had to pick a favorite Schnucks, Richmond Center would be it. I even like this location better than the ones in Ladue and Frontenac. I am just impressed with the items available and their presentation. This location seems to have better produce, meat and bakery goods. I'm even impressed with the prepared foods. If you took me into this store and made sure I could not see any signage letting me know it was a Schuncks, I would think it was their competition that begins with a "D". Schnucks needs to make all their stores, this great. Only downside and I wont take a star away, was the checkout. The line to have a cashier was super long at 3:30PM and that isn't even a peak time for shopping. Open more lanes with a cashier. read more

I'm surprised to find prices here slightly higher than I do at Jewel-Osco, notably in the meat and produce sections. Pre-packaged food prices are similar. Apparently I've been sleeping on this Schnucks. This is my go-to for fried Swai fillets, cut into strips. The downside is the parking lot, which is exceptionally busy. I warn you to be very careful and park out of your way. I watched 2 carts come out of the holding space and roll down the aisle. One car dinged the side of a parked car really bad. The seafood station here is always popping. They stay busy. They will fry or steam any seafood item for you, to perfection. Another busy station is the hot foods. I discovered some delicious hot-n-fresh pizza. At $3 for a huge square, a steal!!! They offer such a variety of items, you don't ever have to cook again. The variety of fresh fruits and vegetables is phenomenal. They also have a great selection of local vendors in their own private freezer aisle. I also like the selection in general for shopping needs. This is by far one of the better Schnucks. They stay busy. The lines move fast. My favorite is still Des Peres but this comes in a close second. You should definitely check them out. read more

Second time at this location, doing (did) a big haul for family, I'm not usually the main shopper. No complaints about the store ( it was very clean and shiny) until I tried to contact my lifeline about where to find the Rice milk, other than my phone connection goes to "sos", no wifi, no 5G, no LTE. My question is, was some of the produce sickly looking from the same thing that makes my phone useless or is was that coincidental? Overall, it's a grocery store. I went on a Tuesday after work to take advantage of the meat selection that is often placed on sale before the next Weekly Ad promotion kicks in on Wednesday. I also wanted to get together with a friend and thought combining the two could work, because I always see the sandwich board at the entrance advertising a Happy Hour from 4-6pm and have been curious about that bar area tucked into the corner of produce. How nice would that be to have a glass of wine while shopping? I dread going to the grocery store after work and genuinely looked forward to casually chatting and sipping with my friend. We arrived at 4:40pm. A Team Member was in the process of closing off that area, and when questioned, he told me it was indeed not available. I was curious given the advertising at the entrance (which differs from the sign posted at the bar displaying 4-5pm) and confirmed the time on my watch which lined up regardless. He reiterated it was closed and disregarded my respectful attempts (my friend told me later I should have been more emphatic, but it's not my nature) to reconcile the situation. I don't know what was going on, but then we quite unintentionally followed him around the store while he did his own personal grocery shopping. QUESTION TO MANAGEMENT: Do you offer Happy Hour or not? This location is only a couple of blocks from my house, but I go to the Maplewood Store a lot to avoid the huge crowds here. The beer selection is the best around, and I like the deli, meat department and bakery a lot as well. The reason for the two stars is because checking out here is an absolute nightmare. It could be so much better if they allowed more than 20 items instead of only 10 at the self checkout area. Consequently there are always long lines at the human checkout area, and it's almost never fully staffed. And I have no idea how to get cash back it the store anymore. They don't do Cash Back at the self checkout anymore. I literally had one item to purchase and they sent me to wait in a half hour long line at the regular checkers to get Cash Back. When I finally got to check out, I immediately told the checker that I needed cash back. But when I put the card in to pay, there was ever a cash back amount option available. What? So I go back to Customer Service, tell them what happened and they were clueless too. Do yourself a favor and just get your cash at the bank, the aggravation at this Schnucks ain't worth it! read more

When you are debating if this is a Schnucks near you to stop in at you should ask yourself a couple of questions. 1) How much does a busy parking lot drive you crazy? If a lot, don't go to this Schnucks. This is the biggest knock on this location. The parking lot isn't huge, there are other businesses in the area, and the store is always busy. This is the only reason I gave the location four rather than five stars. 2) Are you in your twenties or early thirties and looking for that someone special? One of my friends referred to this Schnucks as the "pick up" Schnucks. I have to say it is an apt designation. As opposed to most grocery stores most of the clientele is actually quite young. It is almost to the point that there should be little flags people can put on their carts to let others know if they are single or taken. It makes for interesting people watching. 3) Do you like good selection and a convenient location? My wife and I end up at This Schnucks because it is walking distance from our house. it is a larger store, with a nice deli, cheese selection, and butcher counter. The location of this store is almost perfect; at the very tip of Clayton and within walking distance to the Cheshire Inn Hotel, Katie's Pizza, Carl's Delicatessen, Esquire Movie Theatre, Walgreens, Saint Louis Bread Co. and within the same shopping plaza as Sprint, Einstein Bagel, Orange Leaf, New Balance and Boston Market. But....I hate the parking lot; its shared with so many other establishments that it causes me severe migraines each time I pull in. It's probably a hazard. Now on to the interior of this little palace; exceptional. An amazing variety of cheeses, deli meats and olives, fresh fish, ice creams, yogurts and hummus. There is a Kaldi's Coffee located inside the store also. The curious thing about Schuncks markets is that they often reflect the neighborhood they are in-for better or worse. This one is the Clayton/Wash U store and is generally well stocked with that client base in mind. They seem to be doing a good just in the time of COVID although in the past few weeks things are not so attentive as they were a few months ago. The deli seems to be the weak point here, lots of confusion and with all the new LCD screens and press for a ticket to get served that often broken, well, its a bit of a muddle, they would have been better off just hiring some additional staff and leave all the tech stuff out of it. I stood in line for a money order for 7 mins. The guy going back and forth from the self checkout lanes saw me standing at the customer services desk and security. When I walked up an employee was leaving the service desk saw me. Some baggers too. But when I knocked on the glass to be acknowledged the guy tells me they are closed. It's 5:15 pm and they are supposed to close at 8pm. He tells me they don't have enough employees. I just would have liked to be told that before 7 mins of standing in line. So, I'm not originally from the Midwest so when I got here three years ago I had never heard of Schnucks. I'm not hard to impress when it comes to grocery stores so take this review with a grain of salt. I like this Schnucks because it is the closest grocery store to my apartment. I am very forgetful so I come here multiple times a week, every week. The fruits, vegetables, meats, and baked goods have always been decently fresh when I have purchased them. This Schnucks typically has everything I need when I go grocery shopping and nothing is too difficult to find. Compared to other grocery stores I've been to, their beer aisle is huge and fully stocked with an abundance of craft brews. I also like the overall layout of this Schnucks because it's easy to get around without bumping shopping carts with people. Sometimes the lines can get real long and there's not always someone there to assist in bagging your groceries. However, they are always open so if you need something at an odd hour they got you covered. At the end of the day, when I need groceries, this place gets the job done. read more

Schnucks in Richmond Heights off Clayton Road is my go to store for fruits, vegetables and meats. They have it all. Sometimes they have several places where you can get free samples. A salad bar, a hot bar, pre-made sandwiches, salads and entrees. There is a deli counter, bakery, fish market and meat counter. A wonderful cheese counter with very knowledgeable people who know their cheese. They also have an ice cream and coffee shop. What I really like is that they have a small section of discounted meat that is about to expire at reduced prices. You can take it home and freeze it and it is just fine. Would I come back here? A flagship St Louis location of the grocery store. A good substitute of the Whole Foods. Kombucha are 1 dollar cheaper than those in Whole Foods market. Fair quality sushi but at very reasonable prices, and Häagen-Dazs ice cream in huge cups. Kaldi coffee, wine, cheese, wild caught seafood... 24/7 service. You can come before 6:00 in the morning to avoid peak hours. One star off for two things: The prices of some products can be much less in other Schnucks branches. Ahhh, Clayton Schnuck's. My neighborhood grocery store! Before Clayton Schnuck's I had to shop at Ghetto Schnuck's on Lindell which always left me frazzled and questioning the state of humanity. That being said, I'm so glad to have my new grocery store and I love it for all that it is. The reason for the four stars is that this location is just too busy. It's not their fault, so maybe the four stars isn't valid, but trust me when I say you'll have a guaranteed 2-3 cart accidents during every visit you make. I'm either accidentally knocking over a display, clipping an innocent dude's cart, or stuck behind a lady who wants to read every single ingredient in her box of Happy O's cereal. It just takes a very long time. What I do love about this store is the way the aisles are organized! They have the big signs hanging from the ceiling but there are also mini-signs throughout each aisle that let you know where things are, and if definitely cuts down on time. The second thing I love is the amazingly friendly woman who does the cooking demonstrations by the baking aisle. Not only does she know where everything is, but I'm pretty sure she knows everything there is to know about everything. Third, I love the staff in general. The guy who usually checks me out is Jeff, but his nametag says "DJ Jazzy Jeff." I don't need to explain why this is awesome. It's a pleasure to shop here and I've learned to go in the early morning before the crazy shoppers come out. I agree with Yana... skip the other locations and just come to this one. read more

I love this place. It's walking distance from my residence, so it's almost like an extended pantry. Being open 24/7 is huge, as I like to come late when there are no crowds. It's always clean, has all the veggies and produce I want, huge beer/liquor section, and prices are decent. There's always lots of stuff on sale at any given time. And now with the recent remodel, this place is trying to give Whole Foods a run for its money. There's a nice big Kaldi's cafe w/ wireless internet. There's a gelato stall. A nice expanded bakery & cheese selection. And I almost flipped my shit when I saw the BULK GOURMET TEA BINS. Oh Schnucks, you shouldn't have. Definitely try out the jasmine green tea. Oh yeah, there's also a DVD rental machine and a coins-to-cash machine. And the little old Asian lady cashier is a total sweetheart. I really can't say anything bad about this place. read more

This is more of a rating for St. Louis area Schnucks in general rather than this one location. It's quite remarkable how awful this grocery store chain is. It's not the employees' fault at all. In fact, they do a stellar job. The store in general just completely lacks anything that remotely resembles healthy food. Bulk food bins? No. Affordably priced produce? No. Sale food items that won't give you diabetes? Not a chance. Fried food that will give you a heart attack by 35? Huge selection! I'm not saying Schnucks should turn into something like a co-op or Whole Foods. I'm not saying Schnucks shouldn't sell fried food at all. I'm just saying the unhealthy to healthy food ratio is so disproportionate that it's INCREDIBLY hard for me to find healthy food there. What's even more concerning is that the Schnucks locations that have the most variety and the most relatively healthy options (although there's not much to choose from) are in predominantly white neighborhoods. Maybe it's a bigger issue that's out of Schnucks' hands that the Schnucks in the predominantly white neighborhood has an entire gluten-free aisle with a range of relatively healthy options available (albeit subpar in comparison to other chains like Dillons or Price Chopper or Safeway) and the Schnucks in the predominantly black neighborhood 8 MINUTES AWAY puts the Twinkies and Cheetos out front, offers a scant amount of produce, and has no gluten-free aisle whatsoever. I can honestly say I have never seen a more disappointing grocery store in my life. But the institutional racism perpetuated by Schnucks is truly what solidifies it as the worst grocery store in America. read more

I like how this schnucks follows black people like we're the ones stealing. News flash, every race has people without ethics. When you target one race you're basically giving the green light to everyone else that they're safe to do as they please because no one is watching them. I mean the audacity. When I worked at wash u the kids there would steal from this schnucks ALL THE TIME!!! Why, because they could. And if they got got caught then act like it was an accident. But most of the time they would walk in get what they wanted and walk out. Undetected. But we have the burden of being followed. I'm ok with it, I'm not a thief but I can guarantee if I did want to steal from this place I wouldn't get caught. I don't think I've ever encountered a caught thief. At Walmart you see them sitting out. Or see police cars. You know why you don't see police cars here all the time or thieves in custody? Because they don't get caught! Because of this inconvenience I have a mind to steal, just to prove that they are not stopping anything, then call up to the store and have them run back cameras. That would be a treat. They try and lock doors black exits all this in effort to stop thieves and nothing's working. Because they are walking in smiling friendly undetected. This store gets managers who thinks they're getting tough on shoplifting and making an effort to really crack down on black people and yeah some of us are out there but guess what we're no where near your problem. Meanwhile your dairy products aren't rotated, your fruit is always bruised, hot bar is not great and bread is either under baked or too hard. Focus on that. read more

I love this store. I drive out here from the city Schnucks Lindell store, which is 5 min. from my home to do all my shopping. The store is nice and clean. Lighting is great. Practicing Covid mandates exceptionally well. Staff is always helpful, pleasant and courteous from the cashiers, managers, butchers, maintenance, stockers, cart staff, cooks, etc. They are neatly dressed. Carts are always available. Managers are easily accessible and always on the floor. Store is always stocked. Food items, deli, seafood, fruit, veggies are always fresh. They also always have wonderful promotions. Parking is plentiful, security is there..a plus. Store us always packed so that should tell you something. Lastly. love the Schnucks points program overall. The only thing I don't like is new location of the Customer Service area. They moved it in the middle of the self checkout area, which causes a bottle neck of people lined up for service as you leave the store...it was fine where it was..... the old area is used for 4-6 self check out cards use only ...which is always roped off because it is not being utilized. read more

One of the nicer Schnucks I've come across, just a step down -- maybe -- from the swanky Culinaria downtown. A solid choice for grocery shopping -- if you can manage to park without killing yourself or others, that is. What sets this Schnucks apart? Besides the pleasant overall feel and general cleanliness of the store, a few things come to mind: (1) a Kaldi's coffee bar right inside the main entrance (2) Boar's Head meats and cheeses (free samples with purchase!) (3) a cheese counter with very knowledgeable service (4) a Schnucks Cooks demonstration station by the bread (5) a very large liquor aisle on the far back wall of the store For some reason, the layout here is a little less intuitive than some of the other stores I've shopped at, but I can probably write that off to just being less familiar with this location. I live right by the Lindell branch, which is one of the worst - it's always crowded,there's never enough lanes open, and it takes forever to get checked out. The high end of the spectrum would be the fancy Des Peres one. Anyways, things I can't get at the Schnucks near me, like organic apples that don't rot the day after I get them home, or organic ground beef, are plentiful here. It took some effort to find ready-made crepes, but someone stocking foods was able to confirm their existence in the store somewhere in the produce section (he just didn't know exactly where he'd seen them). Schnucks, I love you! Your name is the ultimate in bizarre; and resonates schmuck until one is fortunate to stop in and realize a name is just a name, so don't bother with questions asking why. I don't get it, but all I truly care is that you are not a grocery chain in Chicago, and for that, I'm extremely forlorn. My grandparents used to loudly exclaim that Chicago doesn't know grocery stores the way St. Louis does, and boy were they were spot on. So here we were, my family and I walking up and down the aisles in awe as though we won a free trip to the USA from an emerging nation and wanted to see what a grocery store was. The store was super clean, staff kept asking if we needed assistance. (I guess we looked a bit silly). We were going back to Chicago, by car, thankfully, so we bought packaged goods that wouldn't spoil, some fresh fruits and lots of non-perishable Passover goodies we haven't seen anywhere in Chicagoland. The breadth of your brands is spectacular as is your very tempting bakery, fresh meat counter, a nice deli counter, all that fresh fish that's almost 1/2 the price of Chicagoland's WF's.
