I love this Kaldi's location and it's a favorite of my husband, who lived in StL for years and years. This one is in a historic strip mall near Forest park and is charming and quaint. Staff are very friendly and they have the BEST mocha chip muffins. Noms. I had a breakfast burrito and hot latte and both were delicious. Smoothies here are also wonderful. Randomly, I decided to stop in for a coffee and a cookie. Ordered a Mocha Latte add Caramel and a chocolate chip cookie. As I tried to identify a seat, I noticed this place had quite a bit of flies. So much so, that I caught the barista shooing one away as he was wrapping up my coffee order. I took a seat at the window and I just felt uncomfortable. To add, the Latte had 0 sweetness and I felt perplexed since I had both mocha and Caramel in mine. The cookie was OK, but not enough to salvage this visit. I love Kaldi's coffee. I get a vanilla latte with oat milk every time, and have a hard time wanting to try anything else because it's always SO good. I love that they make their own vanilla syrup in house. This visit they had a peppermint mocha scone in their bakery case and it looked too tasty not to try. It was the perfect amount of peppermint for me, and was a great addition to my morning coffee. The only improvement this location could make (for me) is staying open later so I could get pre-work coffee from them when I work night shift! read more

This was my first time to Kaldi's, and I'll definitely be back next time I'm in St. Louis. The food is all prepared from scratch, so it feels a lot fresher than other chain coffee shops. I really enjoyed the egg sandwich on a bagel. I enjoyed my coffee as well. There was plenty of seating to sit and work on the computer or chat with friends, and there was a nice outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice. I've visited both locations, and Kaldi's always seems to be busy. I usually go with the coffee of the day--they typically offer about four different options. There's also a great selection of baked goods to pair with your coffee, along with teas. St. Louis born and bred, and it definitely shows--proudly hometown through and through. read more

What an adorable neighborhood spot! I love the ample outdoor seating, and with it being so close to the park, folks were definitely taking advantage. The interior is quaint and cute as well! I met a friend here for a walk, and we got an iced coffee, cookie, and water bottle. Later on, I went back for lunch. I didn't realize this was a vegetarian spot until I looked closer at the menu! Some of vegan and gluten free options as well, though the menu was pretty limited. It took longer than expected to get my order, but overall had good flavor. I opted for the breakfast bowl and enjoyed everything but it being on top of legguce - the hot elements warmed up and made the lettuce soggy. If I were to go back, I'd ask to sub something else (like more quinoa) or get something else on the menu. read more

Kaldi's swings back and forth every few years between offering fairly special coffees and those that have a broader appeal. The coffee is always good, but sometimes they offer really exciting coffees, and other times not so much. I'm disappointed that by the afternoon most days there aren't single origin drips available, because they are always great. But Kaldi's does have a single origin espresso most times--at the holidays it used to be a blend, which wasn't really what you would want if you ordered featured espressos, but I don't know if that is still the case. The latest single origin espresso I had was outstanding. (It was a light roast brazil.) And I think they usually are like that: the coffee is always great and usually they are well dialed in. The other thing that is super reliable is the cold brew; it is always outstanding. But......the last two drinks I had were more expensive than I think they should have been. They charge an extra 65 cents for an Americano [over an espresso]. I don't think I have ever seen an upcharge that big, but a good margin. The cold brew is also very pricey, but I think that is because it is partly because they only have one size. It is great place to work, visit or just hang out, inside and out, and is reliable. And the staff is always nice. read more

I stopped by Kaldi's after dropping my son off at Wash U. I wanted an iced coffee, but didn't have anything in mind. They had a special Ube latte that sounded good, so I ordered an iced Ube latte. It knocked my socks off! It is literally the best iced coffee drink I have ever had and it's gorgeous! I sat inside and drank it and the location and space are beautiful. The Ube latte was so good I came back the very next day to order another one. It would be an obsession if I lived closer. Walked past this cafe while enjoying a walk in the huge park it overlooks and decided on the way back this was the place to quench our coffee thirst. It is filled with uni students laconically ignoring essay deadlines and getting caffeinated for parties instead. But the friendly staff took our order as we walked in and we managed to find a window seat to perch on. Decaf Mocha - I had asked for cream on top (my favourite bit) but it came without so I asked if they could top it off and they happily did so. This was definitely one of the best mochas I have had, no powder on the bottom, bittersweet and creamy. They must make it with a chocolate syrup but it doesn't taste too sweet. Definitely delicious and moreish. (In fact we came back for a 2nd visit next day just for the mocha!). Early Gray Tea - large serving and the tea bag was left in so you could brew it to your own preference. Good quality tea. Mini chocolate scone - small, sweet and hit the spot This coffee shop chain is obviously popular and rightly so as the drinks we had were great, the baked goodies are a little too healthy, but boy it is worth going just for the mocha. read more

I stopped by with a friend to pick up coffee, but we ended up grabbing avocado toast, 3 coffees, and 3 pastries! When in Rome... I got the cardamom cinnamon latte, iced, and it was just okay. Sometimes the espresso flavor can get lost under a lot of sweetener but the flavor of the syrup was nice. My friend got the lavender latte with oatmilk and he said it was great. I sampled my brothers 8oz hot coffee, black, and it was really nice. Seems like a lighter roast as it has a bit of acidity. It has a really nice texture though, sort of coats the tongue and lingers after each sip. Would recommend sticking with a drip coffee! The avocado toast was pretty run of the mill, the bread was very tasty though which really made it. the cheddar scone was pretty dry and not great.. the chocolate chip cookie was also a little dry. We got there around 10am so I was hoping the bakery wouldn't be so stale. The butter bar is really delicious though.. apparently it's a St. Louis staple and it's super sweet, almost caramelly, with crunchy and gooey textures happening in one little bar. Service was quick and the actual seating looked nice, if not a little sparse for the location, but we did takeout so I cant speak much to the ambiance. TLDR: get the butter bar and a drip coffee. read more

This location is quaint and cozy inside with a large outdoor seating area. The menu here is all vegetarian; my recommendation is the walnut avocado salad. Great combo of flavors! Recently, I have noticed that they run out of baked goods, so come early if you want your pick of treats. 4 stars because during the academic year college students pack the whole place and you really have to fight for a spot. I think they could optimize the indoor seating a bit better/maybe add more tables and chairs. They also got rid of the seating at the coffee bar and replaced it with to-go order pickup. read more

I just love Kaldi's so much. Not only is the coffee excellent, the food is tempting (while also appearing somewhat healthy) and the staff is fantastic. I specifically love this location because it really feels like a small, local coffee shop where everybody knows your name. Definitely check out their seasonal specials (they're good about using real ingredients and syrups rather than the artificial ones you find at big chains) and I'm a huge fan of their cold brew. They also can it now, so you can pop in to grab a 4 pack of their cold brew to take with you! Love Demun, and Kaldi's is always a nice place to check out in this little neighborhood nook. It is frequently very busy, and the day I went was no different. The inside is fairly small, so not always the best to go for doing work. We went on a warm summer morning, so were able to take advantage of the outside seating, which there is a good amount of. It is also in the shade at that time of day- win! I love getting the honey and almond milk iced coffee during the summer- it is refreshing and delicious. I also love their warm chai latte in the winter. Their portions for drinks are a bit small and a bit expensive, but not too out of bounds compared to other places. I didn't love that they put my drink in a plastic cup, even when I said for here. We also ordered the avocado toast, and it wasn't my favorite. What bothered me most was that it came out with a lot of hot sauce drizzled all over it, and that was not in the description on the menu. It would be nice if they asked if you wanted it, or made it more clear that it was a part of the meal, because not everyone likes hot sauce, and it could be a deal breaker. I do like hot sauce, so it was okay, but event still, the ratio was a bit much. It also was underwhelming compared to many other avo toasts I have had elsewhere. I do love their peanut butter oat bites, but didn't get them this time. Love that they have a frequent flyer program, and let you get the biggest drink when you redeem your free drink- generous! This was my first time at this Kaldi's location and I was happy to find a welcoming neighborhood shop. Many people were sitting outside enjoying their coffee which the patio overlooks the park. For a small shop they have a nice variety of pastries available for breakfast. I opted for an iced latte this day. Ordering was easy and I was able to distance among the other patrons while waiting for my coffee. It took a little long for a simple drink with only two other people waiting ahead of me but they had drinks with a full presentation. My drink tasted great and was refreshing in the nice weather. I love the cozy feeling at this Kaldi's location. The staff are really friendly and chill, and the food and drinks are consistently great. All the food is vegetarian and their menu is really extensive. The last time I went I tried the avocado toast with a fried egg on top. The hot sauce vinaigrette on top was so good and reminded me of the Seoul sauce from Seoul Taco. I always like studying in a spot that has great natural light to make me feel like I'm outside and remind me of the exterior world while I'm buried in lectures. The side room even has a big pretty tropical plant next to the door. Perfect for pretending you're enjoying the great outdoors. On nice days they keep the door open too so you may catch a breeze if you're lucky. read more

Kaldi's overlooks a beautiful park and is quite a relaxing place to stop by during the mid-afternoon where there is less of a rush. This is my go to place for studying away from campus and catching up with friends. The customer service is absolutely great. The baristas take the time to make personal recommendations and get to know their customer's names and their usual drinks. The last time I went, I ordered a cappuccino that was just too beautiful too drink. When they brought it out to me, the foam made the shape of a palm leaf. I sat there almost twenty minutes before I decided I would ruin the beautiful pattern. The only thing I could see as an improvement would be to create more seating by enlarging the place. Ohh, and heads up, you may want to bring a jacket with you. I often get cold after the first thirty minutes of staying there. read more

I had a holy breakfast moment recently at Kaldi's. I was feeling the aftershocks of the previous nights revelry and needing nutrition badly. I went for the Chilequile Casserole ($7). This is essentially a large ramekin filled with eggs, black beans, cheese, green chiles, and covered with a corn layer. Not corn kernels, but tamale-style corn. Also comes with a side of salsa. It was absolutely perfect. Warm and comforting with authentic Mexican flavors. Exactly what I was craving... But that's not all. The dish came with a choice of side...I chose the "grain salad" which doesn't sound exciting, but was actually awesome. It was quinoa mixed with mint, golden raisins, and cranberries. It was cold and bright tasting, a perfect foil to the warm rich casserole. Alternating between the two items, I was able to feel the pain in my head subside. I didn't care about the loud crowds around me. Or the fact that my laptop couldn't connect to the wi-fi. None of it mattered. All that mattered was the flavors and textures of the amazing food. The casserole is only served Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and I was told it sells out on the weekend, so don't get there too late. read more
