Excellent and fast. Even with no reservation we were seated quickly and a knowledgeable waitress helped us make fast choices on menu. The food was heavy, not salty, diner fare. They made burgers, omelette, egg sandwiches and very good meat loaf! Coffee was good and hot. Prices were cheap. Plates large (no need for apps along with a main course). The Schodack Diner also has some really nifty street views - so one can chat and pass the time with no efforts, as you watch the goings on driving past. Review: 4 star food

    Pancake deluxe with home fries

I had rather low expectations as I walked into Schodack Diner and this place met those expectations. I love diner food, but only when it's done right and this was not done right. I ordered the pancake deluxe which came with two eggs and sausage. I also ordered a side of home fries. To start, the pancakes were a generic boxed kind that were dry and had virtually no flavor. I drenched them with syrup, but the syrup was straight out of the package. Why can't places give you fresh maple syrup? I would happily pay extra. Next, the eggs which I ordered over easy, tasted extremely weird. I honestly don't know if they fresh because they tasted a bit sour. Furthermore, the home fries weren't awful, but they were undercooked and needed more seasoning. In contrast, the sausage was by far the best thing here. The sausage links had great flavor and were juicy. When it's all said and done, Schodack Diner is a massive waste of potential and a subpar diner .

This was our first time coming to this diner. We were tended to right away on a busy Saturday. Very nice waitress, who got our orders in and out within a timely fashion. The bacon was delicious and I have a strong suspicion the butter was homemade, cannot confirm. Good coffee!

These people care and also do the food right. The portions and prices are very good. I've eaten there twice and always leave absolutely stuffed. The seafood Kebob meal was fantastic. I've paid double right down the street for 1/2 the portion and this tasted better. Last visit, I had the shrimp on pasta, and although passable, this Kebob meal was leagues better. 3 for last visit, 4 for this visit, which makes it 3.5 but I rounded up because service flavor and portion was so good this time.

My family spent several days at a rental home a mile or so from Gracie's and, naturally, had to…read moregive the local diner a try. Gracie's is an elevated diner experience...all the breakfast and brunch things you could want, but up a couple levels from a classic greasy spoon diner. Not dissing the greasy spoon diner experience...love that...but this is based in that historical experience, with an overall nicer experience in terms of food and atmosphere. Also, before we get into the specifics, here are 2 words which would bring me in from just about anywhere: Donut menu. Yes, they make their own donuts here, and that's enough reason to stop in, take out, or worship at the front door. We got our donuts to go after the meal...The coffee was GREAT. Too often, coffee, which should be the opening star of a diner experience, can be flavorless, browned water. Here it was good. Bold as I needed it to be, and the perfect foundation for the rest of the meal. My next go-to if they have it brunch experience is biscuits. They have them...you can get a biscuit on its own or, heck, go for a mini biscuit basket! I live for a biscuit-forward establishment. The Full Breakfast (submitting biscuit or potatoes for the meat) would have been my choice, but I decided to roll my own and ended up with a biscuit, fruit cup, and side of Hash Browns. The biscuit was good, large, and perfect with butter and honey. They make the hash browns to order - large hash brown patties - and with 2 different orders of them at the table, one was overcooked, too brown, and not impressive...but the other was perfect and delicious...bordering on potato pancake territory in presentation and flavor. Our server was fantastic...we had a large party encompassing 3 different tables in the middle of a Sunday morning (On Easter no less), which is, of course, the busiest time of the week. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and never made us feel rushed. If I found myself in the Hudson Valley again, Gracie's would be a definite destination for me.
