This bar-b-que is off the hook. The brisket was juicy and delicious. I had the corn and the potato salad. They were great. The creamed corn reminded me of spicy mexican corn in a cup. I came here as a child and it was my favorite place. it's been a few years since I've visited and it was not a let down at all !!! this place still is the best they are doing incredible things. The sides have changed(in a really good way) the cheese potatoes were my all time favorite in my younger years but the Mexican corn !!! and the cucumber salad 10 out of 10 highly recommend!!! if you haven't been in a while, go it's still amazing and the staff are so kind and informative. It's okay... the brisket baked potato was actually pretty good. Neither of us cared for the sausage bUt hubby tore up the chicken. It cost $33 for a half chicken 2 sausage links and a brisket potato. read more

We ate here a while back. We wanted BBQ chicken but they were out. Half a chicken is $12.00. I asked how much a half chicken weighs - not even a pound! Price is ridiculous! Chickens are getting smaller and smaller but price goes up and up!!!! Will not go back. read more

You know, most times I get a tamale plate I it comes with three tamales, so I asked how many came on the plate....just 1??! The wonderfully nice gentleman behind the counter read my mind and reassured me one would be enough, it has half a pound of brisket stuffed inside! Awesome, now let me decide on one of the many sides...oooh street corn! Sounded like a good combination. I get handed the small 'boat' of street corn and find a table in the quaint western themed dining room. While waiting on my tamale I sampled the street corn....I seriously had to stop myself from shoveling all that deliciousness into my mouth! The flavors they packed into that corn, you have to try it!! Next thing I know the server brings out my tamale and I excitedly cut a piece. It was so much better than I could have imagined!! I almost didn't save any for my husband to try I was that in love with my food, did not leave a scrap! My husband has mentioned on multiple occasions going back for that tamale and street corn (even the next day). But, when the food is that good how can you pass up dessert?! Banana pudding, cobbler-both favorites of mine, but I wanted to share something that was more my husband's style. I chose the sopapilla cheesecake. It was plenty for us both and just enough sweet to fulfill my sweet tooth! Hands down some of the best barbecue I've tasted in central Texas, I knew the original owner when o worked in Lampasa before he sold the business to his son and daughter-in-law and he'd always tell me to stop by or visit and i just never had the opportunity while living in Lampasas, when I relocated to Belton they were one of my first stops with the kids and we loved it . Parker had the brisket Mac and cheese, Sawyer and I split the brisket nachos , then Mariah for a two meet plate with ribs and brisket and it was all delicious, I was very fortunate to meet Staci and she let me sample the pork loin chops and I tell you , they were smoked and cooked to perfection, If and when you have a chance you need check them out when in Belton a staple in this town for 35 years and updated menu that you can't resist with all items hand made sliced and cooked to perfection. read more

I'm from TN by way of GA, and I grew up on southern pulled pork BBQ. These days I'm spending a lot of time out West and Schoepf's really impressed me. The brisket was tender with good smoke all the way through and a nice thin layer of rendered fat on top. The BBQ sauce was really nice , with good contrast between sweet and heat. The sides really stood out though. The potatoes were EPIC and probably full of MSG and butter. :) The green beans reminded me of my Grandmothers, and the cobbler was spot on. The only downside to the meal was the sausage, it was really dry. Also, what's up with no TX beer? The Bud was fine but I'd like to see Shiner or something specific to TX available. read more

So my son and his boys came to town. I took them to schoepfs. Brisket,ribs,turkey, sides. $216+, brisket was good- not great. Ribs were dry tough lean under seasoned and hugely disappointing. Both my sons said my ribs are much better. Sides were good. We can go to millers to spend that much and get better food. Or can go to backyard bbq and get at least good quality for less than half what this cost us. Shame. Won't go back read more

This place used to be so good! No more quality, no more seasoning, prices through the roof. Super expensive for what you can get much cheaper down the road. The meat cutting person at the entrance doesn't listen to the amount people want and then gives you double and you get charged for it. Sides are way over priced too! Update after the owners comments below: The owner, as you will read in other reviews, has a lot of excuses. The customers shouldn't be told they are wrong about their reviews which is what he or she is essentially doing. In addition, the customer shouldn't have to teach your staff math while ordering their food or wait to talk to multiple employees to get the wrong righted. Great BBQ but stop being so chintzy with the bread and bbq sauce. Your prices are high already and there's just no reason to count penny's because any customer eating at your establishment certainly isn't. We will continue to come here but enough already. Not to mention, I can tell every time when it comes to bread and sauce that it's stressing your employees out as well! We got two pounds of meat that cost $80.00 and we were allowed 8 slices of bread and 4 tiny sauces...multiple people are eating on the two pounds and we don't want to share sauce out of one container. Sheesh. Update after owner response: To be clear, I ordered two pounds of brisket yesterday. I have no idea if your guidance to your employees is based on weight or dollar amount but I was specifically told by the girl "I can give you one 8oz container or 4 of these little ones". I guess your staff needs more guidance in understanding that if a customer needs a little more then go ahead and give it to them. No one specifically told me it's based on the dollar amount, but based on what you said, you've obviously given them guidance to limit the amount of sauce based on the amount of meat purchased. Like you said, some people don't even want sauce (or bread) so the pennies all even out in the end. Your price won't keep me from coming to you (every two weeks for at least the last 4 years) but the situation like yesterday will. It's been going on for many years (long before our current inflation/shortage crisis) with a different employee almost every time and I've finally had enough. I will keep this review handy and if I have an issue again I will show your employee what you wrote or ask for a manager because I know I will have an issue again if you don't speak to them.
