Great BBQ and fixings at a reasonable price!

When in the area I try to partake in what Texas has to offer in great Barbecue. This place looks very promising when you first come up in it. I was excited but once I was inside it does sell itself and the service is great. The food is where I would say I was disappointed the brisket I had was a bit over cooked and the sides were nothing to be impressed about. I would come back to this place if offered but it's not my first choice because it lacked the wow factor for me. read more

Doing your best during a pandemic does not mean continuing a free concert series with no masks required when the city is a Covid hot spot. I suppose the lack of talent in preparing barbecue and the dependence on MSG for any semblance of flavor demands elevated sales of beer for revenue. To hell with the high risk segment of the populace who later are exposed to one of your irresponsible, partying concert goers who contracted and spread from your venue! Why should you care? You got your few bucks from beer sales and stuck it to the community on whom you depend. I think I am among a rather large number of folks who will choose any one of the other barbecue joints hereafter. You got your last nickel from my pocket. read more

The green beans were okay, but the turkey was awful. This wasn't the worst part though! The service was so, so bad. The people were rude (including a child taking names at the front). The manager was condescending when we tried to get our food after we waited for nearly 45 minutes!! Do not eat here!!! Go anywhere else! read more

Way-Way Overpriced Typical Texas Barbeque by the pound, brisket was good, potato salad and slaw was average at best. You are forced to buy your sides by the 1/2 pint ($5.50?) which is enough for two so, your screwed if eating alone. I paid $11.00 plus tax for potato salad and slaw!!!!! Asked for 1/3# of brisket ended up buying .48lb (1/2 pound) the cutter was obviously a rookie. Had to ask for bread/pickles/onions. Cost me a total of $32.55 for 3-slices of brisket, potato salad, slaw and a fountain Big Red???? Probably OK for a tourist but, im a Texan who eats barbeque at various central texas barbeque joints at least once a week as well as smoking my own and I about hit the floor when I got to the register! WAY OVERPRICED!! I can get the exact same thing all over centex for $17-20 except they don't make me sides enough for two! If this is the best Barbeque you ever had....You ain't had a lot! I stop here 3 or 4 times per year on way back to Dallas from biz trips in SA, Austin or Corpus. Outstanding!! I love that you can by a centimeter thick/business card height/width slice of cheddar to accompany my sliced brisket. ALL the sides are STELLAR.....especially the Mexican Corn Casserole (??...I think that's what it's called...I forget every time even though I am certain it's the greatest concoction EVER). Ate late lunch there today...not cheap.....OK, well food isn't cheap these days. To those reading this review, take note of one of life's truism's: The bitterness of low quality lingers FAR FAR FAR longer than the sweetness of low price. You get what you pay for here - the best sides available ANYWHERE, brisket I'll put up against any top notch BBQ restaurant in Dallas and a very creative menu. EAT AT SCHOEPF'S!! 1st stop on our BBQ taste fest today. It's always a good sign when the line is out the door and you can't find a parking spot. Although it was just a short wait. I had the BBQ brisket nachos. They were ok. They need more cheese and maybe Queso instead of just shredded cheddar. Not bad, but it's Texas so I'm spoiled with great Mexican options and BBQ for that matter. Hubby got the two meat plate. Brisket and sausage. He ask for a mix of their most popular sausages. They gave him jalapeño cheddar and venison. By far the venison was our favorite. He really liked the moist brisket too. They really know how to do sides! He got the cheesy potatoes and the potato salad. I got the cucumber salad. All three were excellent! But there were so many options. Definitely will return. read more

As someone who has some knowledge on BBQ and politics, it saddens me that on one hand I have to laugh at some of the comments concerning pricing and on the other, I seriously have to worry about the lack of knowledge of many in general public. It's truly an indictment on our American education system. Not sure if anyone has noticed but inflation has skyrocketed since our last Presidential election. The average American family is paying anywhere from $225 - $275 extra a month just to pay for the same products prior to this new guy arriving in the White House. Gas is $2 higher a gallon here in Texas, we more than likely have a fake supply chain crisis and staffing is a major problem for all businesses. All of this causes prices at all BBQ places to go up and every other businesses, not just this one. On to the Covid comments. For the 50 - 60+ BBQ places I visit each year, very few enforced a mask policy unless they had a more tyrannical City Government. Of course, no one has ever said you couldn't wear a mask but being that so many studies are coming out saying the mask cause more harm than good, why put yourself between "bought and paid for science" and real science and freedom? You just do you and let everyone else do themselves. That's why we call it a free country. Finally, like 99% of all businesses, if you didn't like something at this or any establishment, just walk up to an employee and ask to speak to the manager or owner. They will respectfully hear your complaint and make it right if you're complaint is legitimate. The service they offer and the food they provide pays their bills, pays their mortgage and taxes. It sends their kids to school and allows them to restock their shelves in order to feed the other large majority of customers that give 4 & 5 star reviews, each day. Also, did you ever think that out of the hundreds of pieces of meat that they season everyday that it's just possible that you got a couple of slices that missed a little seasoning? Or because, a staff member was trying to do their job and make everyone happy, they missed a legitimate detail on your order. But instead of walking up to them as an adult and letting them know that the product you received wasn't exactly what you had hoped for, you go home and write a (probably unfair on your part) review that others will one day read and may actually believe. You know, if something wasn't right, I understand your complaint, but give all business owners a chance to make it right. They probably will bend over backwards to make you happy. read more

My husband and I were driving through and I said let's get some BBQ and Schoepf's is on the way home. We came in where the sides are and everything looked delicious starting with the tres leches cake and sopapilla cheesecake. We got both desserts and they did not disappoint. Street corn casserole and charro beans were delicious too! The best part of course is the beef brisket, so tender and juicy!! We will be back soon. read more

This place depends on what you like- sauce is unique, smokiness is light, heavily seasoned meats, etc. For instance, I wasn't a fan of their sauce, which tasted like someone took spaghetti sauce and added vinegar to it. The sauce didn't compliment the meat either.... Come on. Their chicken half wasn't bad, but it was more of a heavily seasoned grill rub rather than flavor from the smoker. Unfortunately, extremities of the chicken were pretty dry, but I still liked it. Seasoning was the savior to this chicken. Spicy Sausage was decent but pretty dry - had to deeply submerge in sauce. It was great to not have an overly greasy link. Lean Brisket was great - lightly smoked, moist, minimal fat marbling. Overall, it was a good place to try and I would say give it try if you can. Schoepf's is not a godsend, but it is worth a taste. read more

Delicious!! We had lean brisket, jalapeño cheese sausage, charro beans, potato salad, street corn, and coleslaw. Every bite was so good we could not stop eating until the tray was clean. Only change I would suggest would be to have more non-beer alcoholic beverage options. read more
