Seacoast Chimney - Final product

Seacoast Chimney

I wish I had read the reviews before reaching out to Seacoast Chimney for a FREE quote to clean /…read morefix my chimney... They were very responsive prior to them coming here & now I can't get a response other than "We are looking at all communication & will be in touch shortly"... On the original request it clearly shows the $0.00 quote for an estimate... The tech came in & at the end said "ok it'll just be $325 for inspection today"... Provided another quote for $7000 to fix... After the tech left I looked on the receipt for what I had just paid for & the things stated were not in fact done... I reached out to tech to let him know & I got "oh my bad I'll be back tomorrow to do that"... NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN just like the multiple outreaches to the office... So to recap I paid $325 for a service that I did not ask for & a service that was not completed... Shame on me for trusting them but SHAME on Seacoast Chimney for taking advantage of people... DO NOT TRUST SEACOAST CHIMNEY!!!

Seacoast Chimney was contracted to repair my fireplace chimney by removing an existing flue liner…read moreand installing a stainless steel liner. Problems with workmanship were numerous. They failed to properly seal up the fireplace opening, causing a lot of dust to enter my house. An initial attempt was made to make the liner fit the original chimney flue and as a result the liner that was installed had many dings and creases in it. I have to believe a dented and creased liner would cause creosote to accumulate over time and would reduce the draft. Initially, I was informed the job was complete and a fire could be started. After I inspected the work it was clear that the liner installation was not done properly. The liner was not sealed at the bottom and I later discovered it was not sealed at the top either. This would have allowed smoke to travel on the outside of the liner which it seems would totally defeat even having a liner installed. The bricks removed in the firebox area for flue ripout and liner installation were not reinstalled. That means the firebox initially only had 1 set of bricks between the firebox and outside of the chimney. The parging in the firebox was not accomplished. The initial repairs to the masonry on the outside of the chimney were done with partial bricks and looked awful in my opinion and the final product after fixes had a noticeable bow in it. Repointing of the chimney which was contracted was never completed. Several areas were ground out but not filled in with cement. The chimney cap was damaged around the edges and not repaired, it seems like that would have been fixed with the repointing that was contracted. The flue damper installed on top of the chimney was never sealed or even bolted down. That would have allowed rain and snow to enter the chimney and cold air to escape when the damper was shut. After repairs were completed my house smoked out several times after lighting a fire. After going online to a liner site, the recommended diameter flue liner for my chimney on that site was much larger than the one installed by Seacoast Chimney, so it appears the liner installed by this company had too small a diameter and along with the dents that was the reason for the smoke. They initially agreed on the phone to refund my money but instead decided to charge me 3840 dollars for the flue ripout. Although I would agree they did a decent job with the flue ripout, I contracted them to restore a working fireplace. The dinged up undersized liner now needs to be removed and a new one installed properly. As part of that process many of the bricks removed during flue ripout have to be removed and reinstalled again.
