LESSON #1: Do not rely on Yelp for urgent services like towing…read more Yelp is great for finding dive bars, brunch spots, or barbers--but not for time-sensitive emergencies like a breakdown. When my car died in Walnut Creek, Yelp connected me to "reliable contractors" located 40+ miles away in Tracy and Stockton. KB Towing Services was one of the first to respond via the app. They quoted an outrageous price but promised to arrive in 70-80 minutes. Desperate, I agreed. But while waiting, I opened Google Maps and instantly found 4-5 towing companies within a 3-mile radius. I should've trusted Google over Yelp. While I sat roasting in the summer heat inside my dead car, a different tow truck happened to drive by and offered help for a much more reasonable rate. But I was already locked in with KB, even though I called to state it would have saved me $400 and 45 minutes of baking in the hot summer sun. LESSON #2: In an emergency, call 911 or 511. CHP-recommended tows are way cheaper. A CHP officer eventually stopped and told me their contracted tow companies could've gotten me back to Santa Cruz for $350. Meanwhile, I was still waiting. KB finally arrived 90 minutes later--despite being just 45 minutes away. When I asked about the delay, the driver casually said he stopped for lunch and gas in Tracy before heading my way. I don't begrudge anyone a lunch break, but pretending to be "on the way" while stalling--and preventing me from finding someone else--was shady and unprofessional. When I mentioned the CHP tow price, he claimed the officer was "lying" and complained that he makes most of his money towing classic cars for huge markups. Another red flag. And the cherry on top? When I looked into filing a BBB complaint, I discovered that KB Towing Services isn't even a licensed business. Just a guy with a couple of trucks, charging whatever he wants, with no accountability. Bottom line: This was a frustrating, expensive, and preventable experience. Save yourself the headache. Don't rely on Yelp for towing. And definitely steer clear of KB Towing.

From the start, the service was extremely rude. My car was towed this morning, so I contacted the…read moretowing company to retrieve it. The woman who answered was unhelpful and insisted, "we didn't tow your car," even saying, "someone probably stole your car, call the police, BYE BYE BYE," before hanging up on me. I reported the situation to the police, who then called the towing company to check if they had my truck, and it turned out they did. I called them when the office was open to find out the cost to retrieve my car, so I headed over around 8:30 thinking someone would be inside since the door was propped open. As I walked in, an older woman approached and rudely shouted, "You're in my way, I can't get through." I stepped aside for her, but as I followed her in, she passive-aggressively remarked, "How do you expect me to help you if I can't get through?" It was almost 9, and they were supposed to be open at 8 plus the door was open so how would anyone assume she was the one that was going to be assisting at the front desk. She took her time assisting me, and when I tried to pay in cash, she claimed they didn't have change. Since they charge extra for credit card payments, I figured they should have some cash on hand, but they didn't. At that point, I just wanted my car back, so I let them keep the six bucks. When I retrieved my car, I found my handicap placard tossed on the floor instead of hanging from the mirror, the middle storage compartment was rummaged through and left open, and one of my prescription bottles that was in there was lying on the ground with the sticker torn off of it. While I accept responsibility for parking on the street and do not harbor anger over my car being towed, I found the behavior of the staff to be consistently rude and unprofessional. They not only misled me about the status of my vehicle but also abruptly ended the call, making the entire experience and their poor customer service truly astonishing.

The owners are apparently the office assistants as well so if you need assistance or want to talk to the manager well you can't because she is the manager. Just a tip to the company: hire someone that has actual education in management. Creating invoices and calling dispatches for two drivers isn't the same as running the a company.
