Lean Machine Omelette

Since I work out at a gym in the same strip mall, I finally tried this restaurant. Sounds like it was recently renamed and is under new management. It has an old school feel and definitely needs updating. It was pretty crowded when I was there, but we were seated immediately. It's kind of small and feels like the neighborhood diner. Great prices for the food, decent quality, quick service. If you are looking for a upscale breakfast spot, this isn't it. But, if you want a quick, cheap, casual spot - this is it.

Country fried steak with french toast.Over easy eggs with sausage links and fresh squeezed orange juice too. All delicious.

Was surprised to see Nikos was gone. We hesitated in trying the new Oak Lawn Diner. It turns out it was a pleasant surprise. The service was perfect, very attentive. The owner came around and checked on us numerous times. The food was terrific and generous portions too. The country fried steak was a stand out for sure! Give it a try, I know you will enjoy it.

Thank you to Niko's for sending Christ Emergency Department a breakfast care package for all of our staff! It was a wonderful surprise and were so thankful for the free and delicious delivery! All of the nurses, techs, doctors and staff enjoyed it very much! The food was so good! We all agreed that these were the best scrambled eggs! Thanks again, ED staff

Worst breakfast I had in my life. To go order and they forgot my pancakes. And then they serve a breakfast that looks like this? Tasted worse than it looks which is hard to believe

Mall style.

This area was hard to find a breakfast place so when I saw the 4 stars I figured how bad could it be and I stopped by. The place is in a strip mall in the land of never ending strip malls one after the other after the other so parking was fine. The place is dated and on the dive side with it looking well worn was my first impression. It's not the cleanest with splatter on the wall and the glass in the picture in my booth. It looks like a garage sale threw up all over the place with all the country clutter as the decor. At 7:30 it's starting to fill up on a Saturday and it's mostly an older crowd of regulars. You could tell the service was going to be a problem because it was just getting started before the place filled up and I'm just sitting there on my phone waiting for someone to come over, my water took a good five minutes to hit the table. The menu had all the regulars but the country skillet states it's there best seller so I opted for that with scrambled eggs for a change. The skillet looked good with a pile of scrambled eggs on top and a side of country gravy. The skillet was ham, bacon, sausage, cheese, hash browns, green pepper, onion and mushrooms with a side of Greek toast. The skillet hit the table with no toast which she said she would be right back with, I like to start my breakfast with the toast to make a mini sandwich of the plate. I'm sitting there for a good five minutes while my food is getting cold as she is working the tables around me, still forgetting my toast and she finally sees me and says your toast and now I'm just annoyed with the no toast issue. The fluffy scrambled eggs had a weird texture like moist saw dust, kind of mealy which was completely turning me off. The skillet vegys had all the crispness cooked out of them and mushy. The whole breakfast was super average and nothing wowed me in any way. Now I'm just ready for a box and my check so I can leave and I'm still just sitting there and finally I asked the hostess for a box when she seated some people near me. The service here sucked and I could have been on my way much faster from another place I thought. My only high light from the visit was the complementary soup to go that I was offered while paying, they were stacked up next to the register so everyone must get one while paying. It was like a tomato beef barley and nothing special with very little beef but with some crackers it would be ok as a snack.

Worst breakfast I have ever eaten. Will never eat here again. I'm going to McDonald's where at least you have a consistent product.

The corned beef hash was crumbly and though I was told it was made in house, it didn't seem like it. The hash browns and eggs were cooked fine but lacked seasoning. The pancakes were too thick and even though I paid $3.50 more for blueberries, they were hard to find within the actual pancake. The majority of blueberries were placed on top or around the pancakes. My sister's banana foster French toast was the best thing I tasted, so kudos to the cook for that dish. Otherwise, everything else we felt was just average and the prices were above average. My son's strawberry lemonade was $6, and it was fountain lemonade with a strawberry puree syrup added to the glass. Everything added up quickly to $100 for three of us so watch what you order and add on to your meal. I wouldn't return but it was a nice place aesthetically and location-wise. Also, our server Erica was quite pleasant and attentive.

Our waitress, Delyn, was wonderful. She was attentive and just as welcoming. Hubby ordered the Reuben sandwich with fries, which also included a cup of soup. He chose the chicken noodle soup. I went with the two-egg breakfast with bacon, hash browns, and pancakes. The bacon was crispy, the hash browns were not as brown as I like, but they were good. The scrambled eggs were cooked just the way I requested; however, I did not care for the pancakes. I think they are a bit dense for my taste, but the portions are generous, and everything else tasted good. I do love their coffee. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and enjoyed our meals. We will definitely come back.

There was a table set up to honor fallen soldiers which I thought was really nice. The servers were all very pleasant. They sang their happy birthday song to three different tables. I tried the taco skillet which was great. They also have a Mexican skillet which has chorizo, and the taco skillet has ground beef. The pancakes were just ok, I will order toast next time. I wanted to substitute half a waffle but they weren't able to do that. My husband had chocolate pancakes which he liked along with eggs and Canadian bacon. Overall it's a great value and we'll definitely add Flap-Jacks to our breakfast rotation.

Every time I walk in I feel welcomed and taken care of which makes such a difference. The staff is always so friendly and attentive and you can tell they genuinely care about the experience you are having. The biscuits and gravy are comforting and filling and the waffle with strawberries is the perfect balance when I want something a little sweeter. The food always comes out quickly and you can tell they keep things consistent which I really appreciate. It is also a great place for families which makes it even better. It is very kid friendly and has a comfortable easygoing atmosphere that works for everyone. On top of that there is plenty of parking which just makes the whole experience even more convenient. Overall I have never had a bad experience here and it is one of those places I find myself coming back to again and again. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a reliable spot with great food and even better service.
