Sold me a truck that didnt even last a day. The truck made it to my house, then would not start again. It would not recognize the key fob. I had to pay a locksmith for reprogramming a new key. Also the dealership cleared the check engine light code right before they sold the truck so now I cant get it smogged. Other things to note...had a brake light out, and the tail light assembly fell out on the way home, the transmission leaks, the transfer case leaks and the heater fan was bad. Heated seats didnt work and had an exhaust leak. And the running board steps were just hanging there wrapped with some thin wire to hold them in place. Good thing my kids didn't step on them or they would be really hurt. Worst of all, when i tried to put it in 4wd, all i got was a service 4wd light that now is stuck on all the time. They would not answer any calls from me after nor did they return any of my voicemails. Will be making a report through better business bureau. Clearly they do not inspect nor maintain their vehicles. Very very shady ripoff company. Especially for a $13k truck. Read all the negative reviews online before you go to them!! read more

Looking for my brothers 1st vehicle I came across a used 2012-14 (can't recall due to being my third Outback today). Dark Grey/Blue Subaru Outback for the price nearly 12k. Spent a total of 10 minutes inspecting it and when I opened the radiator cap and noted oil inside where only coolant should be. I also found no coolant in the reservoir (it was contaminated inside). Mentioned it to one of the sales it likely has a blown head gasket (this model in particular is notorious of it occurring) and should get that fixed. Blew me off stating the coolant still looked good in the radiator and then proceeded to mention if it was a blown head gasket the oil dipstick would have coolant. Well... he pulled the dipstick and sure enough it was dripping too fast to just be oil... Do with the information as you will but I highly recommend to AVOID this establishment. Also for those that read this far, I want to end it by stating to find out specific year(s), make, and model you want. Either yourself or a mechanically inclined friend, spend the 30 minutes of research on Internet forums specific to that make/model and have an idea of potential issues (example: "2012 Subaru Outback common issues forum"). Finally, have a friend whose mechanically inclined with a check engine light scanner handy join you, or at the bare minimum towards the end of your drive take it to a auto store or shop. Most if not all will check for any codes for either free or dirt cheap and is quick. There are many shady shops in this world and they will take advantage of anyone both young and old. I've fallen for a used lemon when I purchased my first vehicle and have learned automotive mechanics to avoid this from happening again. We worked with "Big" Lin, a salesman at the dealership. He ended up working almost 2 weeks finding a car that fit our needs. He didn't get annoyed or frustrated when we'd rebuke his offerings He called this morning with a nice, older Toyota Camry. Looks great. Runs great. All at a price we could afford. So we went through the process and are now driving that little Camry. I really appreciate the effort he put in for, what I imagine, wasn't a huge commission. Would give this place zero stars if I could. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! They are nothing but scammers. They will straight up lie to your faces. When they tell you they fixed this and that with the car you are purchasing, ask for proof. All they did was turn the check engine light off and tell you nothing but lies. We have a worthless car that we have had to put so much money into that keeps breaking down every few weeks! Do yourself a favor and purchase a car from a dealership. It may cost a little more but at least you will have a working car that will be worth it. Wish this place would just close down and go out of business so we can save other people the grief. In response to their review: I wrote the review in 2017, it is now May 2019 and they only wrote a response 9 months ago. This is not a fake account. Like many others have said, if there was a ZERO star option, I would've selected that. HORRIBLE place. This is the kind of used car lot that gives used car lots a bad rap. My Yukon XL was needing repairs pretty regularly so after the last repair my husband and I decided it was time to get something else. Being as we were on a budget, we needed something used (but obviously reliable) and it needed to be a vehicle capable of towing a trailer, which my Yukon XL could do. It should be mentioned as well that this vehicle we were purchasing would be my daily driver (FT working mom, husband works nights, the chauffeuring is on me). We liked a 2011 Dodge Ram 2500 and it was within our budget. There were DEFINITELY cosmetic flaws, one of the salesmen REPEATEDLY reminded us that we were at a USED car lot so nothing will be flawless. We absolutely understood that and stated several times that RELIABILITY and LONGEVITY were what we were after. Well, we test drove it (not a long test drive) and it drove well. No check engine light, husband checked it over the best he could in a parking lot. We were reassured that it ran great, that their mechanic always inspects their vehicles, and when we asked if there were any check engine lights or codes when the vehicle was brought in they said NO. The windshield had a crack in it all the way across, and we were told they could replace it but we'd have to bring it back next week (we live in GP) so we decided to just replace that ourselves. We gave these guys $13,000 in cash (well, check, but didn't finance) and off we went. TWO days later came the check engine light. It was driving REALLY wonky, and I also could feel that there was a cylinder that most likely wasn't getting any power. I called and spoke to one of the gentlemen (not Brian, the other guy) and he basically said, "Well what do you want me to do about it?" He reminded us of the AS IS policy we signed. Yes, we were aware that it was an AS IS vehicle... however, it was EVIDENT that this truck had major issues when they got it at auction or wherever they picked this thing up. They UNDOUBTEDLY either cleared the codes or the person who brought it in did, probably put the BARE minimum into "band-aiding" the truck so it would get us around a couple of days, and basically told us to eff off. I explained that it was my daily driver, I have kids and a FT job, and also don't have any money for repairs since we just gave our savings to THEM. He said he'd pass my number to someone up the chain of command. WE NEVER GOT A CALL BACK. Well, we tore the engine apart, and here's what we found: the truck was ran when overheated resulting in the heads warping. Valve stems were burnt, valve seats and seals falling out. Warped exhaust manifolds and a damaged cam shaft. For those of you who know engine basics you know that all this means the TOP HALF of the engine was absolutely trashed. Took the heads to a machine shop and that cost $1,000. We ordered the parts which are at $600 and counting. All of these costs incurred so far does NOT include actual labor (except the heads going to the machine shop). MY TRUCK IS STILL IN PIECES. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! We don't want anyone (especially hard-working, good folks on a budget) to be up the creek without a paddle. Or, in this case, up the creek without a FLOTATION DEVICE. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would!! I bought a car from here roughly a year ago. They initially sold me the car about 10k over oil change due. One month after getting my car the check engine light was on they had me bring it in to their mechanic who did nothing but clear the reading, the light turned back on same day. I decided to take it to a different mechanic of my choice. Finding about 4k worth of work needing to be done all Schroeder offered was $500 to help with repairs since I went to a different mechanic of my choice since I couldn't trust that theirs wouldn't just clear it again. The exhaust was plugged which was setting off the engine light as well as many other things wrong as well. Then about 4 months later I started losing coolant like crazy and following that a few of the hoses blew causing another $1,000+ in repairs. Another 6 months later the fuel pump goes out costing another $900. They have sold me the most unreliable car ever and being a single mom with these repair costs and being without a car has put my family in a very tough situation multiple times. I would definitely not recommend buying from this place and if you do... good freaking luck. read more

These guys are dishonest and will mislead you. I bought a 1987 Subaru (manual transmission) at Schroeder Auto. The salesman (BRIAN PATTINSON) lied through his teeth about the car. It needed SO MUCH WORK including THE CLUTCH which cost me $900 right off the bat. It also needs a catalytic converter and front and rear cap + rotors which cost another $600. When my girlfriend and I went to test drive the car the salesman (BRIAN) was as manipulative as it gets. They will lie to you about the condition of the car and if they are able to bully you, they will. The salesman (BRIAN) positioned the car in a very certain way, and had me pull it back in in a very certain way - so as to not let me discover the mechanical malfunctions that he obviously knew were present at the time. (BRIAN) also would not let us take the car out on our own. I should've known that was a red flag. He talked the entire time in order to distract us and limit our own discourse about it, and also made sure the test drive was very short. Schroeder Auto covers up and temporarily masks any issues the cars may be having. They told me the car had been detailed, tuned up completely, with an oil change - and the only thing it needed was the struts on the trunk. Literally the NEXT DAY my car started having MAJOR issues (loud ringing noises while driving and car randomly dying when shifting to neutral) (stick shift also locking up when pulled into tight parking spots) and it has cost me a lot to repair it - $1,500 just to get it running. Pay no attention to that 5-star review below. Tyler R is not a real customer here. He is just part of this business's pattern of dishonesty. Bottom line - AVOID SCHROEDER AUTO at all costs. They did not pressure me to buy. They provided a copy of the Blue Book value so I could evaluate the price, which was a fair price. When the key to the car only worked intermittently to start the car, they paid for the reprogramming of all the keys to the car, and now the car starts every time. They allowed me to take the car even though I only had cash for part of the price, and gave me a week to get the rest of the money to them. I would recommend them to my friends. read more

I purchased a 2005 Subaru Forester XT from Schroeder about a month ago. After I purchased the vehicle the turbo went out about 2 weeks later. I talked to Brian, the salesman and he was able to get the company to pay for a new turbo. I was greatly appreciated, and didn't expect anything considering I bought the car as is. The car runs great with the new turbo and I'm happy with my sales experience. When I went in to look at the car I never felt hassled, and they were able to get my payments exactly where I wanted. Aweful all around!! The typical slimy used car salesman we all try to avoid like the plague. Check engine light came on the day after purchasing the vehicle and revealed transmission and emissions issues. It also needed a power steering pump which would explain why they wouldnt allow it to be driven in the parking lot, and only in the driveway.... they refused to trade it in or take it back or help fix it. They paid for half the power steering pump after I was very very aggressive about it. Now we are stuck fixing the transmission and emissions.... read more

I had a great 2013 Jeep Patriot but I wanted the truck because I live at Lake of the Woods. I traded in my vehicle and when I drove the truck the oil pressure light came on and they assured me they would fix it so I let them fix it. I drove it up the mountain and the oil pressure light came on I had to take it back down the mountain to Medford and they told me they would fix it, that they did fix it. I drove it back up the mountain the oil pressure light came on. finally I called him and told him I can't keep driving back and forth with this oil pressure light so they kept it for a week assured me that it was fixed. I drove it back up the mountain and because I work at Lake of the Woods I don't drive my truck during the week because I live at Lake of the Woods resort I let the truck sit for a week. The next Friday my day off I drove 7 miles to Rocky Point and when II get there and my truck is leaking oil all under the chassis now perfect I called them and they tell me oh drive it back into Medford . however I don't want to do that because what if it's a major problem? so I get a tow and tow it back to their mechanic . the mechanic tells me it's the rear main seal the oil pan and the valve covers I pay half of the labor, parts and I take it home last Friday. I let it sit for another week while I work I take it out the next week engine light comes on I call to figure out what it is lo and behold my second cylinder isn't firing. As of now and all of this I've had the car exactly 31 days these people are liars!! they only want their money and of course I got a loan from my bank so they got paid in full . they are liars they're cheats I had to pay for half of the labor and parts after I had to pay for a tow and now I got to pay for a full tune up all of which they told me they did before I bought the vehicle. my 2013 Jeep Liberty they already sold and it was in good condition other than a gas cap light that kept coming on because of the emissions not a big problem you put a new gas cap on and it works. these people are liars and cheats! Save yourself money because they are not going to tell you the truth and then they're going to act like it's all on you because they lie do not buy a car from them I wouldn't even give them one star but you have to on this app do not buy a car from Schroeder's not either man they're both liars and cheats and they're only out to make money I'm sorry if you do it's not worth it ! please ! please ! please! don't buy a car from these men they lie they are cheats and they are horrible please read these reviews before you buy a car! We were in a desperate need of a car after an accident, and we thought that they seemed nice enough. Now we are stuck in a situation where we are still making payments on a car but it needs a ton of repair work. We don't even know how fast we are driving about 7/8 of the time, which is really scary when a cop is behind you and no cars are around to match your speed to. We told them about our situation and they won't budge. Their excuse was, "cars break" and then proceeded to tell us the amount they spend on repairs in their shop which is totally irrelevant to our situation. If they spend so much on fixing up their cars, then why did they sell us a car with so many problems? He also told us this used to be his personal car, surely he would have noticed issues in his own car. Apparently you're allowed to be a heartless jerk when you're a used car salesman. DON'T BUY A CAR FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS! Traded in my car i only owed 1200 bux on for a truck. Had a check engine light on they agreed in writing to fix. A week later the light came back on. We took it into the shop and the mechanic said all they did was turm the light off, nothing had been worked on and the truck had multiple problems. Fine, I'll fix it but then they never paid off my other car! OMG! To keep our credit good we were making both vehicles payments, for three months i made payments on a car I didn't even have in my possession! We called and called, check to pay it off was always in the mail they said, this was a nightmare. They owe us money but we will have to take them to court... worst experience ever! Guys, be aware that this place is under new ownership and they seem to really be trying to turn things around. The staff was incredibly helpful and honest, and helped us find exactly what we were after. They didn't try steering us to what was more expensive, and they were honest about what cars were clunkers we should stay away from. They worked late with us, and offered to take care of a few issues with the car right away through their shop free of charge. Also offered any work done at their shop for a discounted cost. Best of all they were open to some major negotiations on the price of the car we wanted. Been driving the car for a few weeks now and there hasn't been any issues. I just wanted to add my experience to help the greater Yelp community avoid yet another bad experience- I used to have a Honda Civic- I had that car for years- I took really good care of it and it had almost 300,000 miles- I decided after replacing the hoses, the battery, the radiator, and finally the distributor, that it was just getting old and everything was wearing out- I found a nice looking low mileage Honda Accord online at Schroeder's- I went to look at it and the whole thing felt so weird- it was late and banks were closed but we filled out the financing paperwork- then they said to take the car home with me- the deal wasn't done and I wasn't really comfortable leaving my car there but we agreed I'd come back in the morning and wrap it up- the problem is they advertised and even provided me with a totally clean car fax report- the problem is it looked off to me- I pulled my own when I got home and there was an open recall on the automatic transmission that hadn't been addressed along with some other issues- it sure is odd that they basically supplied me with a falsified car fax report- the next morning I called RFCU and told them I was refusing financing- I would not agree to the loan- lucky for me she shredded it and sent a denial to the dealer- I went back to Schroeder's to drop off the car and pick mine up but mine was gone- they weren't going to reverse the deal even though I had the falsified documentation in my hands until I walked back and told the owner the financing is denied and you'll have to sue me to get a dime for the car- they suddenly found my car in a sketchy body shop getting prepped for paint- the salesman brought me to it and was rude as hell the whole time- the salesman implied I had gotten him in trouble- the whole experience was so ridiculous I'm glad I stopped the money or they would have totally screwed me over- never ever buy a car from them they are so shady and deceitful read more
