Seniors BEWARE. All the banners for an unlimited miles Drive Train Warranty is a $4000 charge on the window sticker. It was not disclosed to me while working with Levi, but caught it when I got home and saw the sticker. Called Nick about it and he implied I should have seen it so good bye Sucker! This warranty is nontransferable. If you sell the car or pass away and leave it to someone else. Southern Oregon Subaru pockets $4000 if you don't make a claim. Chances are the extended warranty will cover you for 10 years. Why pay the $4000 when you may not use it. Also, Levi told me he had an Ascent and it was not nosey. Drove 6000 miles roundtrip to Alabama and depending on the road surface at Highway speeds, it is indeed nosey. Some places I could not hear my wife in the front passenger seat. Maybe it's my experience in the service industry that makes me believe you should serve customers that come during the times you are open, but it seems to me that if you're going to stop taking clients at any time, that is the time that you close. This review is for the service department. These guys are the greatest!!! I could not have been more impressed. People who will try their best for a stranger, who might not be a repeat customer (because of living far away) is the real test of a place, and these guys were fantastic!! I was traveling through Oregon and was going to head over Grants Pass, and found my brakes were not working well. I headed to the nearest dealer, Southern Oregon Subaru. I got there about 3 PM and let them know I was traveling through. They were amazing. They jumped right on it, and replaced my brake pads and re-surfaced the rotors. There service was impeccable, their people amazing, and their prices very reasonable. Keep reading. This has all been reported to Subaru of America, as the GM (Randy couldn't be bothered to message or call back). I've been a loyal Subaru owner for nearly 18 years, purchasing multiple new and used Subarus. I've also been deeply involved in the Subaru community, and have referred many people to this dealership. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend them. The service department has declined significantly. Calls go unanswered, voicemails aren't returned, and getting warranty work done is an exhausting process. I've had to fight to get simple issues addressed, including getting my 5th tire properly recognized in the system and securing a loaner when my car was unexpectedly kept for a week. Repeated visits still have not resolved on-going issues. On multiple occasions, interactions with service advisors have been frustrating, with unprofessional behavior that left me questioning the quality of customer service. Most recently having a service advisor who kept ignoring me, then when I was trying to explain a situation to the shop foreman kept interrupting and raising his voice to me. It seems there is a reason their season Service Advisors, Technicians and Manager are leaving this dealership. If I buy another Subaru, I'll be taking my business elsewhere--because dealing with this service department isn't worth the hassle. read more

It was my first time buying a used car or any car for that matter. Carlos L was the first to greet me when I walked into the sales office. I let him know what I saw online and was looking to do a trade in. He took me over to the RAV4, suggested some other similar cars, but I had my heart set on another Toyota. He pointed out a bunch of features, and hooked me up with a test drive. It was smooth, easy pick up and quite spacious than the 2010 Corolla I was used to. We talked numbers and he worked to get me the payment I could do. Their Business Manager, Tony H also worked tirelessly to get me out of there, even 3 hours after they closed. They didn't rush, they answered my questions and concerns. This team genuinely cares about their customers. Nothing felt artificial about this experience. They weren't trying to up sell me. The thing that took the longest was getting an updated policy for insurance before I drove it off the lot. I tried to update the policy on the app, but it needed an Agent to approve. Carlos suggested Progressive and I was able to get a quick policy and provide a copy. Once that was settled, Tony helped me with the contract and warranty and paid the down and was on my way. We ended up purchasing a brand new Crosstrek Limited, and he paid us more on trade-in value for our Crosstrek Hybrid than we could've gotten from a private party sale. Our Associate, Mark Stockstill, devoted several days to helping us explore various platforms before we settled on our vehicle. He's patient, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Mark's a modest guy with an intriguing story. Ask him to show you the historical models they have on site for a quick trip down nostalgia lane. Valerie Terrones spent time with us reviewing all of the various coverages available, and we eventually decided on a package that suited our needs. Her office is teeming with plant life. Not surprisingly, it was like a breath of fresh air. We got a great vibe from Valerie, and she passed on some exciting tips about the local area. Truth be told, the entire team is incredible. Paul and Eugene from service took care of our old car before we became determined on upgrading. They put us in touch with the sales team during one of our service appointments, predicting strong interest in a trade and a generous offer in the end. Drew, my go-to service writer is awesome and he has helped me on several occasions with pretty crazy problems I just happen to have to deal with. I recently took it in for an oil change and Sara was very friendly and courteous. It only took 45 minutes, but I was first in line for Express. It usually takes a little longer. The service department here was next level bad. I have a 2014 outback. The window stopped going up and down. We took it in to get it fixed. My son was representing me, and said he thought it was a motor, but needed the window working. These guys - they charged 680, said they replaced the motor for the window. I don;t know how they tested it SINCE IT DOES NOT WORK. It could have been a simple broken wire, I'll have to pay someone else to find it and fix it. They had the frigging audacity to write "Customer said no diagnosing", which was never said. They just did a shit job , no validation that the work even solved the problem and charged me $680. I highly recommend that you NEVER use these guys or trust them with your car. read more

For the last 5 years or so, I've been driving all the way from Nor. Cal to have by Outback serviced by this dealership. STEPHAN was my guy and he ALWAYS took great CARE of me and my car. Unfortunately, he is no longer working in Medford. I decided to continue doing business with the dealership after Stephan's departure because I liked the vibe of the Service department. On February 1st, I had my annual oil change and was SURPRISED to know the cost for synthetic oil was now approx. $90. Not only that but the dealership is now charging customers a 3% surcharge for credit card use. SERIOUSLY? Maybe you should try cutting cost corners internally! I sent an email to their customer service rep. regarding this "nickel and dime" practice, in addition to the inflated cost for an oil change. Gail said she had forwarded my complaint to "Management." NO response as of 2/26/25. So much for their "customer satisfaction" promise. REPUTABLE businesses choose to "absorb" the day-to-day costs of doing business vs passing on "inconvenient" fees to customers. My mom goes to a local Medford mechanic and gets her RAV4's synthetic oil change for $54 and no BS upcharge for paying with a credit card! I don't need to pay $90 for a "Subaru" filter with my synthetic oil and I certainly don't need to be covering the company's Visa FEE! Congratulations Southern Oregon Subaru Service! We've only had two previous car buying experiences at different dealerships and they were full of pressure, empty promises, and being treated as transactions, not people. We didn't know car buying could be anything other than stressful until we went to SO Subaru. Mixed review of Southern Oregon Subaru Let me preface this with the belief that S.O. Subaru has some very nice employees working in their dealership . I traded a 2021 Lincoln Corsair for a 2018 Ram 1500 as I needed to be able to haul wood/gravel etc. The Ram appeared to be in good condition and all I was looking for was a safe truck to work around my place. Issue 1. Tint on the front windshield (aftermarket) was beginning to bubble. I was told to just hang on to my car and that I could pick up the Ram in a day or so when the tint had been removed from the windshield. Issue 2. On the test drive a service air bag light came on. I was assured it would be taken care of and we closed the deal. The tint was removed from the windshield within a day or so and I was informed they (SO Subaru Service Department) was working with Lithia Dodge to address the air bag warning light. In the end the truck stayed at Dodge for approximately 6 weeks awaiting parts and the repair. In fairness, SO Subaru did loan me a half ton truck once I told them that my bank had already paid them for the truck and I still didn't have a truck to drive. Issue 3. OEM radio had begun to delaminate (worked fine during test drive) and the day after I picked the Ram up from SO Subaru (approximately 6 weeks after the close of the deal) the radio became inoperative. As most of the settings for door locks, windshield wiper operation, headlight delay, etc are all accessed through the radio this was a major concern. I reached out to the salesman I dealt with and told him of the issue. He asked me to bring it in and have the service department take a look at it. While the serviceman was looking at the radio he mentioned that he had noticed this issue with the truck when he was conducting the safety check prior to my purchase. I had not been informed of the issue with the radio but don't think it was intentional. I was told that I could have the radio replaced with an OEM radio (approximately cost of $1600 per salesman) and that SO Subaru would cover approx $800 OR I could install an aftermarket stereo and they would cover the first $800. I went with the latter and spent $300 + out of pocket. Approximately 1 week ago (after driving the truck for about a month) the Service Air Bag Light came on again. I reached out to SO Subaru and was directed to contact Lithia Dodge. SO Subaru also called Dodge service department to let them know I would need an appointment. I called Dodge and was told that it would be October 8th before they could look at my truck. I am not a mechanic and have no idea if the light means that the airbag may deploy for no reason while driving OR if it won't deploy in the event of an accident. Again, I was just looking for a safe work truck. I went back to SO Subaru to ask if they would but the truck back from me. The asking price at purchase was $28K and research told me that the vehicle should have been worth that much so I didn't negotiate the price but paid $28K. After the "Air Bag Light" came back on I approached the sales manager and I was told they would buy the truck back from me for $22K. That works out to be a cost of $6K for about 6 weeks of use and around 2000 miles. So here is the thing. I think they tried to do what was right but since the radio was known to be defective at the time of purchase and wasn't disclosed, I probably shouldn't have been out the $300+ but not the main concern. The issue with the airbag is definitely a safety issue, was known at the time of sale. They tried to do the right thing but still I am saddled with a vehicle that I don't know whether it is safe to have my family in and the cost of that lesson is $6000. Maybe I am whining but seems not quite right. read more

I have always liked everyone at this dealership and had a good experience both buying a used car there as servicing my other Subaru. However, in the last 5 months, I have been seriously 'upsold' services not needed, and will not be returning to this dealership, as I have lost trust.. I declined all the recommendations at the time and went to other shops. One was a recommended $4k exhaust job that turned out to need only a $200 repair. The other was a $1500 job bid that turned out was only a bolt that needed tightening! And recently I was told I needed all new tires immediately, yet the depth was never listed, and after about 2 hours in investigation, it turns out that recommendation was a mistake and my tires are fine. When I wrote to the dealerhsip about 2 of these problems, I had to make contact 3 times before I was responded to, despite my request that my letter be acknowledged. I was told "we did not realize you needed a response," which told me they never read the letter all the way through. Disappointing, despite very nice service people! read more

Buying my first Subaru was a great experience, they were helpful at getting the price to the point where I could finance it with the money I had down, which I was super thankful for and recommended others to buy here as well. The service dept on the other hand really needs help with how they talk/treat their customers. I had a free detail coupon so I scheduled an apt, I was told it would only take 45mins. I dropped my car off and called back after an hour and a half when they state that the detail takes 2-3hrs and they hadn't even had time for my car yet, so I re-scheduled without issue, they were very apologetic and professional and offered a rental car for my time when I came to the re-scheduled apt. Here I am today, I dropped my car off and mentioned the free rental. The man I worked with was so rude, he automatically cut me off in the middle of my explanation as to why I was asking for a rental, i'm not sure why I was questioned so hard in the first place. Having a rental was not a big deal to me... but I figured since they offered I would take advantage of it. After passive aggressive rude attitude towards me for no apart reason, I just said forget it. I was cut off several times with a dismissive attitude after he said several times "i don't know who you talked to but it wasn't me" and "we've never talked before" when I was trying to point out the kind man who told me I could have a rental this time. He dismissed the whole conversation I had with him. I would expect the same respect that I give anywhere but Subaru doesn't treat their customers with respect. I don't normally ask to talk to anyone above anyone but this really rubbed me wrong, the manager above him was also very dismissive and kept repeatedly "do you want the rental car or not?"... I shouldn't have expected anything different after my first interaction. Really let down by the service i've received and how badly I was treated. I would recommend buying a car here but not the service dept. Do better. -Response from Subaru employee states things were left in good graces which they were not.
