i visited the Great Neck office 10/22/20 7am  I love that I got a 7am appointment s could still go play Golf lol  Parking is easy. The office is clean and well organized.  The receptionist/assistant at the front desk was very helpful, polite and professional. The doctor was extremely thorough in her examination of me. She answered all of my questions and addressed all of my concerns. I felt safe and secure by the doctor's handling of my visit and the safety precautions taken by the office staff. read more

I went to this dermatology group for help with a recurring spot on my face. I paid my $75 copay to see a PA who told me she couldn't treat it and that I should instead book another appointment with a different doctor at another location. Before sending me away, she asked about my skincare regimen and wrote me a prescription for a stronger version of something I was already using--unrelated to the problem I came in for. I filled it before realizing it was redundant. That was apparently enough to count the visit as "successful," because now I'm not only out the copay, but I've also received another bill for $45. In short: I paid for a visit where my concern wasn't treated, was given a redundant prescription, and then was billed again on top of my copay. This feels far more like a billing racket than medical care. read more

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Mann. He looked at a rash that I had and give no solution what so ever except to put lotion on it. What kind of lotion, I asked. "Any kind you find at a drug store" he said.... -but it's itchy and this is a rash, I don't want to make it worse. Then he said if it gets worse, just put more lotion on it. Like is this guy for real? Is he a real dermatologist? I am shocked someone like that is in practice for so long. read more

The most disrespectful office I've ever been to. My first visit was due to a really bad skin damage after a very recent car accident. I got there 10 mins late and they had already cancelled my appointment! They told me I can't be seen because they are really busy, meanwhile I was literally THE ONLY PERSON in the office. I showed the office manager my really badly injured hand in the cast and how I had a hard time getting there not being able to drive and asked to PLEASE be seen .. she said no!! As I was walking out, she goes, very rude and cold, "You can wait but there is no guarantee and the wait could take another hour" (again I was THE ONLY PERSON in the waiting room). I agreed, cause I had no choice and really needed medical attention. 5 mins later, she calls me in!! Why giving me such hard time then???? I made a follow up appointment in 2 weeks.. They called me the day of and cancelled the appointment! The 3rd time I made an appointment, they called me at 7am the day of again(yes 7am) to tell me that the doctor doesn't want to see me, because I'm a new patient ... WOW. You couldn't tell me this when I made the appointment? Do not give them your business, they do not want yours! Choose a doctor that respects you... read more

If you want to be convinced that we live in a third-world country, do business with the Schweiger Dermatology group. I called on Monday for an appointment and was given one on Tuesday. I thought, how wonderful. I left work early at the chagrin of my employer to arrive on time for this visit. Unbelievably, upon arrival, the office was closed. I attempted to call and I connected with what appeared to be a call service because the person I was talking to was clueless. He kept me on the phone for about one half hour until I finally hung up. I was emailed on the morning of the visit making sure I would be there. How pathetic. I would like to add one more outrageous thing that they do. I was set to see Agnes, a PA. At no time during the appointment setup was I informed I was to see a PA. It came out after the process was completed and it was sloughed over. (I caught it) I consider this a bit of sneakiness. I didn't hear that there would be a fee reduction. In summation, this is the state of medical affairs these days. read more

They've figured out a way to see a lot of patients with minimal use of doctors. I was looking for a new local dermatologist and made an appointment. I've had skin cancer twice and I thought that they would be a good choice since there are so many doctors in the practice. I agreed to have my initial skin check done by a PA (no doctor available for 90 days out for any reason) figuring that then I would be a patient of record and it would be easier to get in with an MD should I need one later on. The PA came in along with a man. The man was wearing scrubs, did not introduce or identify himself, I made the assumption that he was a nurse. I was basically unclothed and wearing a gown. When the PA opened the front of the gown, he became agitated and asked if he should leave the room. It appeared that he had not been in this situation before. The PA told him to stay. I was extremely uncomfortable but wasn't sure how to react. An individual is very vulnerable in this type of situation. The practice texts for your opinion after the exam. I responded to the text and asked two questions. First, the identity and training of the exam observer and secondly, why, as a skin cancer survivor wasn't a doctor asked to examine two lesions that the PA identified since squamous cell carcinoma is easily confused in a visual exam with the more benign lesions that were identified just visually by the PA. I received a call and was told that the man was a 'medical technician'. Upon further questioning it became clear that the term was being applied to a scribe with ZERO 'medical' training of ANY KIND, I think it wrong and outrageous that a non medical person of the opposite sex is being allowed to observe an unclothed exam without identification, explanation or the permission of the patient. I've tried to find out what the law or medical ethics are in this regard and it's probably legal but certainly off putting and creepy. In regards to my skin lesions, the best she could offer me was a doctor at another location as NO doctor could be made available at the Great Neck location. Really? NO DOCTOR? I have been a long term patient with this group for over a decade. Dr Garofalo is wonderful, knowledgeable and caring... However, once Schweiger took over their billing department is absolutely horrific. I have been fighting a bill from 3 years ago that I keep receiving despite my proof that the insurance company has already paid. Multiple phone calls, mailings and emails to their outsourced billing department located in Pakistan have gone unheard. Even my insurance company has called them. Once it became Schweiger it all went down hill. After going for 30 + years , I have now looked for another practice.

I am a medical professional who took my son to the office for visit. The NP was good and did what she was supposed to do. I am giving this facility 2 stars because we were unable to follow up. It was requested that my son see the physician because of a complication during the procedure. I called on a Wednesday to make the appointment and was told there was nothing open for 6 weeks. When I told them that I needed a follow up at the request of the MD I was told they would call me back; Which they never did. 5 days later I called which took me 3 phone calls to get a live person. I kept getting a machine after sitting on hold for 10 min asking me to leave a message and they would call me back within 24 hours. When I finally did get a live person they had no record of my conversation 5 days earlier and they did not have any appointments with the MD. I explained again and was placed on hold then hung up on. I will never return to this office!!! I called the other dermatologist Wesson Dermatology who was also recommended to me. I called and immediate got a love person. Then got a follow up the next day. read more

I have had skin issues for more than a decade. I can't tell you how many different doctors I have gone to, including several dermatologist. Most of them kept giving me creams to deal with the topical issues I had, which they said was eczema. I had given up until I was referred to Dr. Gian Vinelli. By just asking me one question, about my joints, Dr.Vinelli changed my life. So apparently I have psoriasis and more to the point psoriatic arthritis. He directed me to a rheumatologist and even she was impressed that he caught that. It's been only been a couple of months but I am FINALLY getting back to my normal self after a decade. read more

I took my 14-year-old daughter to see Dr. Vinelli last Wednesday, October 24, 2018. I can honestly say he was absolutely one of the most patient, friendly, funny and reassuring doctors that I have ever met. My teenage daughter really was receptive to him and listened to what he had to say. He examined my daughter, answered her questions (and mine). He even took the time himself to find her some samples to use while she waited for her prescription to be filled. Dr. Vinelli is a really great doctor and has not forgotten that his patients are a priority. Also, the office manager Rebecca was very accommodating with regards to getting my daughter an appointment. My appt was for 9:20 AM and I waited 1 1/2 hours before being called to see the Dr. I do not want to give all of the details of the experience but it was quite upsetting. This needs to be corrected. If I can give zero stars, I would!! Schweiger Dermatology Great Neck Office is the worst!The staff (nurses to be more specific) are rude, obnoxious, and could careless about their patients or their safety. While the whole world is aware of how important it is to practice social distancing, and how important it is to make sure your appointments are scheduled accordingly, this practice does not! They had me waiting in the office close to an hour (past my appointment) while there was about 8-10 other ppl waiting at the same time. When I addressed my concerns to two different nurses, their reaction was beyond belief. One of the nurses said "I can't help you - I don't work for you doctor - used a hand gesture as in "go to hell" and walked away from me. The other nurse said "if you don't like leave and come back another day" this after waiting over an hour in an office full of ppl during this Pandemic. Then when I finally saw the doctor, I was told they lost my previous photos and they have nothing to compare my moles to..really?? I've going there for years, and you lose my my photos? How carrels and unprofessional is that? Then, I call the manager "Joanna" I must've left 5-6 messages, and she never called me back. I guess I can see why the staff simply don't care about patients, and have absolutely no respect for their patients time, health, and they certainly don't care to follow safety guidelines during this Pandemic. I called for an appt and listened to the electronic message. I could either stay on the line or push a digit for a callback. I chose to stay on the line but was automatically told I would get a callback, which I never got. The next day I called again. I got a human and told her I would like an appt. she said I should hold on. I was then redirected to an answering service. I told him I wanted an appt, and he said he's just the answering service so someone will get back to me. Eventually I got my appt but the process was aggravating. read more

It was time to change dermatologists. I wanted a large practice with an office nearby, offering narrow band UVB treatments for my psoriasis. I selected Schweiger at it's Great Neck location and am extremely satisfied with my first appt. I met with Dr. Nikhil Shyam, a very young looking physician with great credentials. He performed a thorough skin check, then reviewed several ideas to help my psoriasis, which is on both arms and legs. He counseled me to use a prescribed ointment rather than cream, which is more effective. And he suggested a surprising way to minimize the frequency of use: apply the ointment at night then wrap my limbs in plastic wrap. He said I should see great results in two weeks, and I started doing so immediately. It's a pain to apply anything twice a day! He also said I should apply Aquaphor (or Cetaphil I think) during the day. Other OTC topicals wouldn't be as effective for me. So I'm doing as told and can't wait to report back on the results. Not having to go for UVB treatments 2-3x a week is a great motivator! But if I have to, I plan to use the Great Neck office of Schweiger. And I'm staying with Dr. Shyam, who may be young but who offers the kind of advice one would except from a highly seasoned, older dermatologist. read more
