We could not be more pleased with Scientific Home Services products or their service. Jon came out to our home to give us an estimate on what the cost of the new windows would be. He understood the dilemma we have as there is a portion of our home outside that never sees the light of sunshine. So in the winter, as snow collects, this part of the house is the very last to have snow or ice melt. We wondered about windows and asked a million questions to try and understand what all the specs meant. Jon explained everything and suggested a company from Ohio who produce quality products at a much lower cost. We knew that the cost of our windows would be higher than the big box stores as I wanted the grid work between the panes of glass, we wanted them pre-stained, etc. Jon gave us a very thorough quote. We knew they would need to be ordered and so there would be a delay in the installation until they arrived. We told Jon we were waiting for another quote and would get back to him as soon as we made our decision. Another company did come out and measure and seemed to suggest that there may be problems with the sill to floor ratio, it might be difficult to get the grids we wanted between the panes, etc. He told us he would be sending us a quote in email within 3 days. We have yet to receive that quote. After 3 days, we called Jon back and told him he had won the job. We then communicated on email. Mark came out and measured and confirmed the build specs. Both gentlemen were extremely knowledgeable and professional. Once more, via email the details of the windows were confirmed and frankly, I found that to be a sign of this company's desire to have complete customer satisfaction. After about 8-9 weeks, our windows have arrived and are installed today. Damian Kusek and his team arrived this morning, very professional and meticulous in their work. Absolute craftsmen! We can't stop going into the rooms to just look at the windows. I am somewhat torn at putting draperies up again in order not to block the view. And from the outside they are spectacular. The only thing left now is to have the surround trim stained on the interior. We also appreciate the fact that Damian and his team cleaned up as though there was never any work done in our home. Unfortunately you do not often see this caliber of workmanship. We know that we will also be looking at some point to replace our bedroom windows. Scientific recently installed 16 double hung and 1 picture window and we could not be happier with the process. Jon came out to provide an in home estimate and thoroughly explained the different window options. He was very friendly, professional, thorough in answering our questions and was not pushy with his presentation. Out of the three vendors we contacted, Scientific clearly was the best. Jon recommended the Imperial LS because of the superior construction and insulation of the window frame. I was concerned with air penetration from the weight pockets and Jon assured us they will be thoroughly insulated during the window installation. Damian was the install project manager and arrived promptly and began right away. He did a fantastic job pulling out old weights left behind by previous installers, replacing wood that was rotted and insulating the weight pockets that previously would leak air. Damian and his assistant were very meticulous in making sure the windows were installed correctly. They made sure the inside and outside of the house was clean and Damian explained how to clean the windows. Damian also pointed out 2 of the windows had damage to them and he already called those in to the office so they could order replacements from the manufacturer. Damian was fantastic and very professional, I could not be happier with their work. Thank you Damian. Two weeks later, our replacement sashes came in and were installed. Took about 15 minutes and I did not have to do a thing. Scientific took care of it. With our previous windows, I had to take out the bad window insert, scrape the caulk off, apply new caulk and hope I installed the new insert correctly. Not this time, Thanks to Scientific. Its been a month and half since our windows were installed. We have weathered two very cold stretches of single digit temps and they have eliminated all cold drafts. The Soft-Lite Imperial LS windows are Fantastic, look Great and Perform just like Jon said they would. We could not be happier. Our house looks like it has had a renovation after Scientific Home Services replaced our original front windows, including the corroded old aluminum storm windows, with white Imperial vinyl windows. I called their office and arranged for Jon to come out to our house. Jon thoroughly explained our options and provided an estimate for replacement of all our windows, breaking the estimate into increments so we could consider consider affordable pieces of the work. There was absolutely no pressure. Later I looked at replacement windows at a near-by big box store. The company does not have a showroom, but I was allowed to stop by the facility to look at similar windows prior to their being installed elsewhere. I liked the barely discernible seams at the bottom corners and the proportions of the framing (I had not thought there would be aesthetic differences in vinyl windows, but there are.) Our budget limited us to replacing the front windows: two picture windows and four double-hung windows, one on either side of the picture windows. The cost was slightly more than $3500. Mike came out to double-check the measurements. The windows were ready in about six weeks. The installation crew (Jay and Scott) were courteous, efficient, and took care with our furnishings. I watched much of the work, as I was curious about the mechanics of how you replace a window. The whole job took about three hours. The window spaces were open for only a short time. This was in February with temperatures about 40 degrees. A few days later, Mark, the firm's president, called to make sure I was satisfied. I told him truthfully we were very satisfied. When we are able to replace our other windows, I will call them for the job. The new windows look great inside and outside. You have to give Scientific Home Services a chance before you have another company do your windows and or other work on your home. I called them to see how and what they could come up with with a wall of windows that were 60 years old on the front yard of our home. Other companies were not only over priced, they had very few options based on what they even new. I worked in the building trades for almost 26 years before my health made that work impossible to do. To many companies are simply charging too much for lower quality items. Too many companies have very limited means and experience so they only sell the most expensive way as the right way. Scientific Home Services did not even try any hard sales methods and really came up with a great solution to our wall of windows. They listened to what we were thinking and came up with a great idea for the project which my wife and I both felt very comfortable with.The pricing was half of some very famous window companies that advertise on TV but even more importantly, the knowledge and quality of the product - service - installation was far better than we could have ever expected. I contacted SHS for a quote and an informal information gathering for our association after I had been informed of their being in charge of the installation of all windows of one unit in our association, which was speedy, clean and looked great from the outside. In our association windows are the individual owners responsibility. The owner of SHS came out first for myself and after I asked him for our residents to meet and inform them of their options regarding window replacements and capping. The owner is the sales person and project manager in charge of all the windows planned and purchased by our association from his company, including mine. Measurement, quoting and planning was handled professionally and without a hitch. His diligence in making sure the end product (installed windows and capping) exceeds my expectations and the product I got is exactly what he represented in the first place. His quote was in line with competitors and the provided information during my research phase was more in-depth and impartial than his competitor's whom I interviewed. He in fact talked me out of a more expensive product I considered because it was the wrong product for this climate with insulation properties equal to the less expensive product he recommended. I will continue getting all my windows replaced by Scientific Home Services and will gladly recommend Jon Koloms and his company at this point. We had a great experience with scientific home services! We would use them again in a heartbeat. We replaced 7 windows (all the windows on the 2nd floor of our townhouse). The entire experience was great. One of the owners came out to our house and measured to give us an estimate. It was really low pressure, fast, and very straight forward. They were incredibly responsive over email for all my questions and my husband's questions. It took about 6-7 weeks for the windows to manufacture. Scientific Home Services told us they would be ready to install by late December. They installed them on 12/23, right on time. They also emailed periodically to check-in throughout the manufacturing time period. I loved that we could pay by credit card for the deposit and the final amount. On 12/23 Damian Kusek and his crew arrived to install the windows. They were fantastic! Super clean and efficient. They were careful to put boot protectors on as they came in and out of our house to our floors didn't get mussed. They left the house in perfect condition. The windows were also highly insulated as they installed them and we immediately noticed a difference in terms of how much wind, etc. was coming through. Damian was so kind and walked me through how to clean and operate the windows properly. He also reminded me about the lifetime warranty which I really appreciated! These guys are great! read more

Scientific was recommended to us by an individual who had retired from the same line of work. We needed patio doors and had gotten estimates from 3 other companies prior to John coming out .John was great to work with, really knew his product and was not pushy. We decided to sign with Scientific and were told that it would be a appox. of 7 weeks to the install . During the course of conversation we mentioned our bathroom window needed replacing so we added it to the job. Installation day brought Damian and his crew to the house and there were absolutely fantastic!! Only issue was that the window was supposed to be a slider and instead they sent a double hung. However they finished the install of the incorrect window and submitted an order for the correct one which arrived about a month later. Was a bit surprised that there was no offer of compensation for the mix up on the window, especially since the doors had arrived earlier than anticipated and the install was delayed as they were waiting for the special order incorrect window to arrive. We live in the city on N. Dearborn St, and own a historical row house that dates back to 1870. We used Scientific to replace our 4 street view windows 20 years ago, and they are still functioning perfectly! So, when we needed to replace our back door with a picture window, we got several quotes but ended up using Scientific again. The delivery process took a little longer than we anticipated, but the door was extremely complicated, and a highly special order-so no surprise there really. The installation went extremely well, and the employees could not have been more professional, trust worthy and most importantly, neat and clean! We are elated with the project and have been told that this door has added great value to our home, which of course is imperative in this market. We now spend most of our home time in our kitchen either looking outside our beautiful new glass door, or on our deck looking in. It truly is a masterpiece. Scientific Home Services came out to our house to show us the windows they have available and take measurements. The salesman wrote up a contract on the spot and told us to call or email to put down a deposit if we were interested. No hard sell! They mainly sell high end windows, especially the Elements/Imperial LS by Soft-Lite, so they are expensive. But we found that Scientific Home Services was less expensive than other companies that sell the same product. We paid about $4000 for 5 double-hung windows (including installation, tax, etc.). The installers definitely knew what they were doing and worked in a focused manner. They cleaned up everything, hauled old windows away, took stickers off the glass, cleaned the glass, etc. The caulking job was first rate. The windows look beautiful and operate nicely. We will definitely use them when we do the remainder of our windows. read more

We needed to replace our old living room picture window unit. I remembered that we had used Scientific over 25 years ago on our first home. They replaced all the storm windows with triple track storms and they were awesome back then. I gave a call and met with John a few days later. Again, the entire experience was fantastic and the products they carry are first rate and fairly priced. The picture window unit came in way less than all the other quotes. We just replaced six windows. Everyone at Scientific Home Services was knowledgeable and easy going. The installers were very professional. The whole experience went smoothly. The windows we took out were purchased at a big box store. They were total garbage. And trying to get someone on the phone at the store was impossible. if you did get through to a human, that person usually had no idea what I was talking about. Scientific, on the other hand, is a locally-owned company. They were easy to reach by phone. They were very responsive. And their pricing for Soft-Lite windows with Super Spacer inserts was pretty reasonable. Bottomline: I would tell anyone who is looking to buy windows in the Chicago area to stay away from the big box stores and call Scientific instead. 10/10 read more

Wonderful company, we used them for replacing all our windows at our home. And in the cold winter time. Honest company, price was excellent. We installed A grade windows, where I was offered only C grade windows if the installation would have been done by one of the major companies in the Chicago area. This is a very big difference in quality. Our home temp showed immediate impact and has fallen down for 3-4 degrees in average, which immediately reflected in the monthly electrical bill. This company has a great business philosophy and treats customers with greatest respect!
