Today I was a walk I. With my son, 2 1/2 years, and he needed a haircut. He has unique long super curly hair and it needed a cut badly. I found them here on Yelp and saw the great reviews and decided to try them out. They were super nice when I arrived and the lady, I can't believe I forgot her name, she was amazing with cutting his hair. She was patient, gentle, and so kind. He was quiet and didn't put up a fight which is a lot with my boy cause he's so sensitive and shy. And the end result was wonderful. I'm new to Long Beach and have been having trouble finding a stylist. I went to Scissor Hands based on Yelp reviews and I am so very glad I did. That was about 2 years ago, Ive been seeing Sophea since then and Ive been happy with the results. So I came in to ask for my hair to be cut short to my shoulders. The lady said it's fine and everything, but she needed to flat-iron my hair to make sure she was cutting my hair evenly. Understandable, because my hair is wavy. The thing is, they charge $25 for women's haircut and she charged me $35 because she used the flat iron on my hair. I didn't ask for it, she just charged me $10 extra for doing that based on what she thought would be good for me. Be wary of what extra things they will charge you with. I would suggest asking them if they will charge you extra whenever they do something extra with your hair. Other than that my haircut wasn't exactly what I wanted but it's acceptable. read more

I got online to yelp and found this place, booked an appointment and was fitted in almost immediately. As soon as I walked in I was instantly greeted, the people are very friendly and easy to talk to. They even helped when I got lost trying to find my way. Great prices and above decent cuts/color! Sophea is easy to talk to and is great with hair. The first time I came I got a haircut in 20 mins and it came out great (She knew what she was doing)! The second time I came i had a color correction/balayage done by another stylist. She was great too, maybe not as experienced with this particular style but still very good. She was able to tone down this horrible brassy color job from another salon and give me the balayage I wanted.
