Have been going to Scojos for years. Our family has gotten to know Scott and Joe, as well as the staff over the years. Great people. Not apologizing for anyone's attitude but I'm sure you have been there when they are extremely busy. The phone rings non stop and people are coming and going like it's a turnstile at a NYC Subway. IMHO it's because of the good food and service, not for a lack of options on the island. A lot of restaurants on the island treat regulars a lot differently then renters, but not the staff here. Everyone is treated equally. Food wise, I find it to always be great. Whether it's breakfast or dinner portions are hearty and food is rarely if ever bland. I recommend their breakfast burrito and their chicken parm. Prices are on par w other restaurants on the island with similar offerings. Only negative is that the place is never empty and tables are close together that you sometimes feel like a sardine while dining. If you are looking for a quiet meal look elsewhere because this place is LOUD! read more

Travelling through LBI for the day, as my family used to spend a lot of time on the island. Stopped in and noticed right away that Scojo's is a pretty simple diner setting. Quick seating and ordering for lunch. Food came out quick from the attentive server. I ordered the Fishwich Hoagie (basic fried fish pieces, lettuce & tomato on a long roll). Good flavor, needed salt. Had to remove the lettuce immediately as it was not fresh at all, and frankly gave the whole sandwich a bad taste. As someone who normally avoids cole slaw, I wish I had here. Second bite included an enormous black hair. My father said "meh" to the Scojo-burger with roasted peppers. Mother ordered the Crabby burger (crab-stuffed mushroom), said it was good - but again, the lettuce problem! She ended up taking it all off of the bun completely and finally enjoyed it with a fork and knife. Visiting town again won't include a stop here. read more

We love this place...for the food. Never had a bad meal here. We look forward going as we know we will enjoy the food. But the only thing we hate is the tightness in which you are seated and no privacy. They really need a bigger place and with the way they make the portions and the food so very home style, they should move into a bigger place. It is very popular with the locals and we love it. Staff issues. I saw the other reviews and all the times we have been there we never had a problem. Yes, they could be a bit friendlier and yes, I feel like screaming to get my coffee refilled some times. But it is what it is. Last year I came in the off-season and had the most AMAZING pumpkin soup ever here, it disappeared the next day but I'm hoping they'll bring it back in the fall. Anyway, it's summer now and we ate here, i think, 3 times in the past 5 days. We found this place simply by checking Yelp for restaurants nearby where we were. We both got the early bird specials and wow-they had great early bird specials! You could pick from a long list of entrées for only 14.99. The special included a salad or soup, entrée, potato, vegetable, dessert and either coffee or iced tea. You could also pick ANY dessert. We had the cheesecake which was SO GOOD you would have believed you were in a fancy restaurant. The service was good and the place was packed which is a sign you know this is a great place to eat. The first thing you will notice when you sit down is the HUGE MENU, I mean if they dont have something you want here I dont know what to tell you. The food comes in generous portions for reasonable prices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is no parking lot and trying to find a spot in the summer on LBI is really a pain and the place fills up with tourists so i stay away during the main season. When it's busy there is a lot of people in there and i feel the tables are really too close where you feel like anyone walking by has to rub against your chair cause theres nowhere else to go. The food & pricing gets 5 stars from me, the lack of parking and space inside brings it down to a 4 though. read more

This was a delicious breakfast. Love the hash browns. Service was good, and restaurant had a nice atmosphere. It looks like it was recently renovated. My daughter loved the basket of apples at the front of the restaurant and took one on the way out. The little details were really neat! Scojo's holds a special place in my heart. Have been coming here since before it was scojos. I share this special spot with my wife at least once a month. You are not going to get a fine dining experience here but what you are going to get it top notch quality comfort food. I have no problem going to scojos for any of the 3 meals. Breakfast is very good. U like other restaurants the specials are special. They aren't trying to dump something mediocre on you. Lunch I usually grab something like a wrap, sandwich or even an appetizer and some soup. If you go for dinner hit up the early bird specials which I believe you can get til at least 7 every night of the week? You will get soup/salad, rolls, your meal and even a dessert and drink. Owner was very polite and accommodating. Decorated very uniquely with glass fish and beautiful pictures. Our food came out quickly and portions were hearty. I had the Salmon with a Dill sauce that was to die for!! Another meal was The Ravioli and 2 HUGE meatballs. And last was the meatloaf. I will definitely come back to have breakfast on the next trip. The only reason I didnt give a 5 star is because we all felt the meatballs and meatloaf needed some sort of seasoning to meet our taste. I love this place. My family has been coming to the island for 30+ years and this place has been a staple for us. I love their soups, salads, and pasta specials. My dad dreams of their chicken parm- it is just that good! My sister has also tried just about every chicken and turkey sandwich they offer and every single one has been good. Making a reservation a few hours ahead is always a good idea with Scojo's. Don't go expecting a quiet or romantic dinner- this place is loud and the tables are close together. LBI is all about finding those hidden gem places to eat and Scojos is one of those places! If you are looking for a great place for breakfast on the island I highly recommend Scojoes. It came as a recommendation from an old co-worker who use to live down on the island and we gave it a shot. The portions are just huge and you can easily have food for two days. The always have a huge selection of breakfast specials and we have yet to have a bad meal. The egg scramble was delicious and I had a spinach wrap with hot peppers and sausage which was one of the best breakfast wraps I have had in a long time. Pretty delicious sandwiches! The fiancé and I visited LBI most recently for 4th of July weekend and were craving sandwiches and burgers. Given the reviews, we figured Scojo's would do the trick and were not disappointed. We placed a take-out order and both got the "Boardwalk Wrap," which was comprised of: philly steak with crispy bacon cheddar and fries inside a wrap. Delicious, and it came with a side of fries as well. My only complaint is that the meat to fries ratio inside the sandwich wasn't amazing - there were too many squished up fries in there, which overwhelmed the meat. But overall, a decent and filling meal if you're in a particularly sandwich type of meat. I'd visit again when I'm on the island in the future! read more

This is my favorite place for breakfast on the Island. My go to is the farmers omelet. The coffee, toast (great whole wheat toast) and orange slice that compliment the omelet are great. Call ahead during the summer months. Their app and other electronic features / rewards program is great. Scott and Joe are great guys. They take great pride in the restaurant and are very friendly.
