We had a wonderful lunch here during our first visit to Sausalito. The food was outstanding, the waterfront views were beautiful, and being able to sit outside with our dog was a huge plus for us. This is definitely on the more expensive side, but for a special lunch or a first-time visit, we felt it was worth it. The quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the location made for a memorable experience. The only service issue we experienced was at the beginning of our meal. It took approximately 15-20 minutes before we received water, and guest ( they knew pretty well ) arrived after us appeared to be served immediately by 3 different servants with water and wine. We felt a bit overlooked and unwelcomed during that time. However, I do want to give credit to our waiter, who recognized the delay and apologized, which we appreciated. One additional surprise was being charged $2 for hot water with lemon. As someone who does not drink iced water, I often order hot water with lemon and have never been charged for it before. On a lunch bill approaching $150, that charge felt unnecessary and a little unwelcoming. It certainly wasn't about the $2 itself, but rather the principle of it. That said, the food and overall experience were excellent. I would not take any stars away because this place is truly a gem with delicious food, gorgeous views, and a welcoming outdoor dining area for guests with dogs. This restaurant is located on the pier of Sausalito with a beautiful view. The restaurant is small but offers a lot of character. We waited for an outdoor table for about 30 minutes. Service was very good. The wait staff was very attentive and gave advice when asked. I had a glass of white wine, 2024 pieropan soave, which was crisp and paired very well with the items we ordered. My bf got a local pilsner, which was refreshing. We ordered crab cakes and a bowl of clam chowder for starters. Both were very delicious! The vinaigrette dressing on the salad paired nicely with the crab cakes. The chowder had the perfect consistency. For mains we had the red snapper and the Mediterranean branzino. While both were tasty, I think they could've done a better job flavoring the fish itself. With the toppings on my Mediterranean branzino it made the dish but without the sauce and slaw on top the fish itself was a little bland. Same with the snapper. The fish had a delicious crispy skin and sat on a bed of vegetables and clams in a sauce. The fish itself was a little bland but together it worked. I think I would've liked to experience stronger flavors. Having said that, I can appreciate the dishes for what they were. For dessert the waiter recommended the tres leches as his personal favorite which is what we got. It was delicious! And while it was sweet it was not overly sweet. They are known for their fresh sustainable seafood and beautiful views of the San Francisco Bay. I had made reservations a week before our trip, for our Anniversary, to guarantee a nice table with the best views, and that's exactly what we got. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and taken to our reserved table. I think they gave us the best table they had. We could see the city of San Francisco and lots of pelicans. Their menu isn't as big as their San Francisco location, but it offers the most popular items like their famous ciopppino and many other dishes. We were brought ice waters and sourdough bread and butter. The bread was so warm and fresh. Very comforting. My husband ordered their special of the day, which was the grilled wild California king salmon. And I ordered the linguine con vongole, which is linguine with clams. Our food came out fresh and hot. My husband loved his salmon. My linguine and clams were good but overly salty. Our waiter noticed I wasn't eating my dish and asked if everything was okay. I let him know that it was very salty. Without hesitation, he removed my plate and had the kitchen remake it for me. He was so nice about. My remade dish was brought out to me and it was perfect. There were a hefty portion of the clams and the linguine was cooked at a perfect al dente. The manager came out to apologized for my first dish being overly salty and wanted to be sure the remade dish was just right. I really appreciated their kindness and making sure our evening was perfect. You can tell that they really care about their customers. Last night, we went to Scoma's for our anniversary dinner. I got to wondering why I ever go anywhere else. This restaurant is perfection every time from start to finish. We were seated in the half booth almost towards the end, on the left of the main room. I loved that table. Most of the tables there are great. We were greeted right away and asked for our drink order. Our waiter was fantastic. He was spot on, friendly, didn't forget a thing, and gave us the best recommendations. We also had someone assisting our table and he was the best too. OK onto the food. What I love about Scoma's is that they have seasonal menus along with their regular menu. First up for me was the stone fruit salad. It was a taste sensation unlike anything else I've ever had. White peaches, cheese, beautiful, crisp, lettuce, and a peach vinaigrette that was to die for. My guy had the heirloom tomato salad and I also had my fork in his plate. The multicolor tomatoes were so sweet. Our entrées came next and I ordered the Dungeness crab spaghetti again. I can't give it up when I go to Scoma's because it is so awesome. My guy got the ahi tuna and we both were crazy happy with our meals. Interestingly, there was a chicken Parmesan on the specials menu. Well....being from back east that is one of my absolute favorite meals of all time but how could I give up the crab spaghetti? I told my waiter I wanted to bring home the chicken Parmesan! So the two of us ordered three meals. We had the chicken Parm today for dinner and added some pasta and it was tremendous. So glad we brought it home. We loved our meals so much. Our waiter asked if we wanted a dessert and of course we did because it was our anniversary. I ordered the coconut cheesecake and my guy had the seven layer chocolate cake. Every bite on both plates was delectable. Upon being seated, guests are offered either still or sparkling water, and the meal begins with complimentary bread. The portion was just right -- about four pieces -- enough to enjoy without getting too full before the main dishes arrived. We also ordered the calamari as an appetizer, and it was excellent. Came here for my birthday and had such a wonderful experience! Our waiter made the occasion feel extra special with a thoughtful birthday wish and excellent service throughout the meal. For dessert, I had the beautiful tiramisu topped with edible flowers, and it was absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed the crab cake appetizer, which was fantastic, especially with the sauce. For our entrées, we tried the chicken sandwich and the Chianti-braised Wagyu short ribs with polenta and baby carrots i loved this one! It all was flavorful and cooked perfectly. One thing to note is that they don't offer the lunch special that's available at the San Francisco location. However, for a special occasion, I would definitely come back. The clam chowder was really good and comforting, and as someone who usually isn't the biggest fish person, I genuinely enjoyed the ling cod dish. I must admit, I faced Scoma's with a certain amount of trepidation - restaurants in heavily touristed areas are rarely spots you want to eat. Scoma's is an exception. Even though it was a beautiful day and Sausalito was packed, they honored our lunch reservation and seated us immediately. For starters, we had the artichoke and Caesar salad. Caesar salad is my acid test for Italian restaurants and Scoma's did a excellent job. The lettuce was whole leaves, not chopped, and the dressing had plenty of flavor. (So many places push something akin to mayonnaise.) For my entree, I had the sole and the partner had the Cioppino. Both were generous portions. My sole was cooked perfectly with just a bit of crunch on the outside but tender and moist in. We were very pleased with the service. Even though it was crowded, we were never rushed. There was plenty of time to enjoy our starters before our entrees were served. I'd be cautious about getting an outdoor table. Several of them are situated where all the guests are entering and exiting the restaurant. The views of the bay are most delightful. Perhaps it was that we weren't clear on our orders, but instead of bringing us one tap water and one glass of sparking we got two bottles. Next time we'll be a bit more specific. read more

It's been a while since I visited Scoma's, a true classic waterfront, platform restaurant in Sausalito, with outdoor and indoor seatings and public shore access. It's a beautiful gem on the bay. The best food here is always various seafood, though it's not Michelin quality, it is quite a classic. Here are some of the stuff we tried in a group dinner (they had no problem accommodate a group of 8-12. We were in a group and tried them all. Appetizers: mussels, oyster (pink foam was cute), fried burrata cheese was a hit - delicious. There's calamari and octopus a bit dry and fried but all pretty decent. Rainbow potato's are sautéed well. Sparkling water or tap flat water. Illy coffee espresso, cappuccino (small cup, delicious, but small portions). Butter and sourdough bread. Entree: try the special halibut it was really good not too dry. People run the table tried the lobster tail, which looks pretty cool, lobster. Risotto are popular, but it does not immediately shout out lobster. Dessert: tiramisu, fruit tart, tres leches cake. The tiramisu is delicious when consumed in-house or taken to go. Staff was very friendly attentive. Good at opening wine for corkage, kept it chilled, poured and brought us excess bottles back. Staff was also very friendly about allergies and food restrictions, though there is no alternative to whole milk, there was an effort to identify allergen such as honey and nuts versus dishes, and it was quite helpful. The sunlit restaurant is beautiful, bright, and very great for basking on a fine day. The crowd here is a bit more senior and classic. Even on weekdays, it can be filled because of tourism. There's a convenient tourist lot a block away (tickets will be issued promptly if failing to pay or extend.). It's rare to find parking on the street near the restaurant and even if you do the limit is 2-3 hours. The two hour one isn't enough for a meal. Parking is tight but not bad for those of us from SF. Also a popular destination for Asian Americans because of the view ambience and seafood. read more

We came by for a late lunch after taking the ferry from San Francisco and were excited to sit outside on the patio on a nice sunny Saturday. The patio is fairly small but provides a nice view of the waterfront and has heat lamps in case it's chilly. For food we shared the Coconut Curry Mussels and Lazy Cioppino. We loved the steamed mussels in a Thai curry sauce. The flavor was on the lighter side and not spicy at all but paired well with the mussels which were super fresh and tender. The complementary bread was perfect to dip into the curry sauce. The Cioppino was great as well and easy to eat as the crab meat is already deshelled. I do which there was more seafood flavor in the broth as it mainly just a tomato stew despite the shrimp, squid and mussels in the broth. Overall while the seafood was cooked well, it lacked the richness that I love in seawood stews. Service was nice but we felt very rushed towards the end. We only ate for about 1 hour when the server kept coming by every 5 min to ask if we were done with our plates when there was clearly food we were working on still.
