Our family enjoyed this historic seafood restaurant in Sausalito. We came here on Saturday for our birthday lunch . There was a traffic accident on the highway so our arrival time was delayed . We called the restaurant and the lady was very kind and helpful. She helped us move the reservation time from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm . She promised that we may have to wait a little bit . By the time we arrived , our table was reserved and set up so that we could start ordering out late lunch. We were very hungry and they gave us another loaf of bread after the first one ! We ordered calamari fritter as appetizers. The calamari was fresh from the ocean ,so tender and delicious. It was marinated and cooked to perfection . We wanted to order a second one right after we finished it ! We have tried the signature clam chowder , Alaska halibut, three orders of the lazy Cioppino ( it has Fisherman 's stew of crabs , clams , mussels , fish , calamari in a tomato clam broth ) The crab meats were fresh and delicious, clams and calamari were tender and fresh from the ocean, so many giant prawn and fish cooked to just right and I could barely finish all the seafood in one order . The broth tasted amazing and it came with two roasted garlic butter sour dough bread . We love seafood Cioppino and this was one of the best one I had , both in presentation, quality and quantity of the seafood . Another family member ordered linguine con vongole ( linguini with fresh Manila clams , garlic , white wine , butter , chili flakes and butter ) . It tased like heaven with the white wine sauce and the fresh clams were so juicy and tender. The restaurant is nicely decorated with windows and ocean views . I love the handing lamps and the wall paintings. It offers elegant dinning with a warm and personal ambiance. Focus from " pier to plates " dinning with daily fresh catches . Guests consistently praise the exceptional freshness of the seafood and the romantic bay views . A blue ship was moving into the bay while we dinned and we enjoyed watching and experiencing the fresh ocean breeze and took photos outside and indoor . Service was exceptional and attentive . I am so pleasantly surprised how good this place was! I was skeptical with any "iconic" or touristy location and a lot of times its gimmicky and the food is sub par. However Scoma's delivered! Had a reservation at around 6pm on Labor day and I've never seen Sausalito so crowed before! We luckily wound free street parking. Had a table with a great view. We ordered: 1. Clam Chowder: Super creamy and delicious. Bowl is kind of small but it was enough to share between 4 people to have a taste. Lots of clams. 2. Lazy Cioppino: This was the dish I was most excited about because it's going to either make or break the restaurant and DAMN was it good! So much seafood and it was SO fresh. I only had 1 clam that did have some sand in it but the rest was super fresh and flavorful. Lots of crab on top. We ate every single bite with the bread to soak up the sauce. 3. Fettuccine Linguini Frutti di Mare: of all the dishes, this was probably the weakest. Not that it was bad but it wasn't anything special. The shrimp were really big and crunchy showing it's fresh. The sauce was good but not as good as the Cioppino. 4. Risotto Milanese & Scallops: This was my favorite dish of the night. The scallops were probably the best scallops I've ever had. A bit on the salty side but I loved it. Super fresh and soft. Melts in your mouth. The risotto was perfectly cooked and seasoned. 5. Calamari Calabrese: This was also delicious. I was wary because they have a sauce version (calabrese style apparently) or the non sauced which we wanted to try something different and the sauced was perfect amount of sauce and didn't soften the crunch. Overall, great restaurant with great views and great food. Food came out pretty quickly within 10-15 minutes. Service was good but not amazing. They kind of just drop off the food and otherwise are kind of hard to get in touch with. I felt bad because the table next to us tried to get the waiters attention for like 20 minutes and they were kind of ignored after their food came out. One thing I also noticed that a lot of different restaurants do now is they will settle the bill at the table which is great but they put the tip choices in front of you and stare at you as you pick rather than writing it in. Yes we will tip but not sure if they're just hunting for bigger tips if the customer feels more pressured? I've had it happen at multiple different restaurants now which is uncomfortable. The calamari was super fresh and really tender. The batter wasn't my favorite since I prefer something more crunchy, but I did like that it was light enough to let the squid shine. The sauce it came with was also good. For the linguine frutti di mare, the garlic was a little too sharp for me. There were some pretty big pieces of garlic that didn't seem fully cooked through, which made the flavor a bit overpowering. The bread was great with a nice crunchy crust and salty butter. Took a trip to Sausalito for a date and we happened to stumble upon Scoma's while my lady and I were just walking around! The interior of the restaurant gives a totally different vibe than outside. We got seated fairly quickly and our server was very friendly and gave great-sounding recommendations. My lady and I ended up ordering the Curried Cashew Ling Cod, Lobster Fettuccine and Calamari Fritte. We couldn't find any pictures on Yelp on the fettuccine since it was a special so we definitely wanted to try it. Everything was very delicious with my only concern was wishing the cod had a little more flavor. To me it tasted a little plain but everything else was amazing. We had a lovely dinner at Scoma's of Sausalito. They are located on the waterfront and they have the most spectacular views. They are known for their fresh sustainable seafood and beautiful views of the San Francisco Bay. I had made reservations a week before our trip, for our Anniversary, to guarantee a nice table with the best views, and that's exactly what we got. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and taken to our reserved table. I think they gave us the best table they had. We could see the city of San Francisco and lots of pelicans. Their menu isn't as big as their San Francisco location, but it offers the most popular items like their famous ciopppino and many other dishes. We were brought ice waters and sourdough bread and butter. The bread was so warm and fresh. Very comforting. My husband ordered their special of the day, which was the grilled wild California king salmon. And I ordered the linguine con vongole, which is linguine with clams. Our food came out fresh and hot. My husband loved his salmon. My linguine and clams were good but overly salty. Our waiter noticed I wasn't eating my dish and asked if everything was okay. I let him know that it was very salty. Without hesitation, he removed my plate and had the kitchen remake it for me. He was so nice about. My remade dish was brought out to me and it was perfect. There were a hefty portion of the clams and the linguine was cooked at a perfect al dente. The manager came out to apologized for my first dish being overly salty and wanted to be sure the remade dish was just right. I really appreciated their kindness and making sure our evening was perfect. You can tell that they really care about their customers. We had a wonderful lunch here during our first visit to Sausalito. The food was outstanding, the waterfront views were beautiful, and being able to sit outside with our dog was a huge plus for us. This is definitely on the more expensive side, but for a special lunch or a first-time visit, we felt it was worth it. The quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the location made for a memorable experience. The only service issue we experienced was at the beginning of our meal. It took approximately 15-20 minutes before we received water, and guest ( they knew pretty well ) arrived after us appeared to be served immediately by 3 different servants with water and wine. We felt a bit overlooked and unwelcomed during that time. However, I do want to give credit to our waiter, who recognized the delay and apologized, which we appreciated. One additional surprise was being charged $2 for hot water with lemon. As someone who does not drink iced water, I often order hot water with lemon and have never been charged for it before. On a lunch bill approaching $150, that charge felt unnecessary and a little unwelcoming. It certainly wasn't about the $2 itself, but rather the principle of it. That said, the food and overall experience were excellent. I would not take any stars away because this place is truly a gem with delicious food, gorgeous views, and a welcoming outdoor dining area for guests with dogs. Upon being seated, guests are offered either still or sparkling water, and the meal begins with complimentary bread. Went there for lunch today. It wasn't too crowded and service was fast and efficient. My wife and I split are meals when we eat out. Had the clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. To both of us this was better than Boudin in San Francisco. We devoured it before I could take a photo. For our main course we had braised wagyu short ribs. Delicious and rich. Portions were average but the sauce on the short ribs was a reduced wine sauce with tons of flavor. Ambiance was amazing as it was a beautiful day. We sat outside, what a view! OMG! This place is freaking absolutely beautiful stunning and amazing! I have always wanted to dine here and finally had the opportunity last Sunday. Not only was the food fantastic, the staff was amazing and professional, and very friendly. They made sure that not only I but my dog had everything that we needed. Moreover, the manager of the restaurant made it a point to come by and check on us and say hello to my dog which meant the world to me. This place is amazing and I will always dine here as much as I can. I highly recommend this place. The only caveat is that it's so popular. While both were tasty, I think they could've done a better job flavoring the fish itself. With the toppings on my Mediterranean branzino it made the dish but without the sauce and slaw on top the fish itself was a little bland. Same with the snapper. The fish had a delicious crispy skin and sat on a bed of vegetables and clams in a sauce. The fish itself was a little bland but together it worked. I think I would've liked to experience stronger flavors. Having said that, I can appreciate the dishes for what they were. It's been a while since I visited Scoma's, a true classic waterfront, platform restaurant in Sausalito, with outdoor and indoor seatings and public shore access. It's a beautiful gem on the bay. The best food here is always various seafood, though it's not Michelin quality, it is quite a classic. Here are some of the stuff we tried in a group dinner (they had no problem accommodate a group of 8-12. We were in a group and tried them all. Appetizers: mussels, oyster (pink foam was cute), fried burrata cheese was a hit - delicious. There's calamari and octopus a bit dry and fried but all pretty decent. Rainbow potato's are sautéed well. Sparkling water or tap flat water. Illy coffee espresso, cappuccino (small cup, delicious, but small portions). Butter and sourdough bread. Entree: try the special halibut it was really good not too dry. People run the table tried the lobster tail, which looks pretty cool, lobster. Risotto are popular, but it does not immediately shout out lobster. Dessert: tiramisu, fruit tart, tres leches cake. The tiramisu is delicious when consumed in-house or taken to go. Staff was very friendly attentive. Good at opening wine for corkage, kept it chilled, poured and brought us excess bottles back. Staff was also very friendly about allergies and food restrictions, though there is no alternative to whole milk, there was an effort to identify allergen such as honey and nuts versus dishes, and it was quite helpful. The sunlit restaurant is beautiful, bright, and very great for basking on a fine day. The crowd here is a bit more senior and classic. Even on weekdays, it can be filled because of tourism. There's a convenient tourist lot a block away (tickets will be issued promptly if failing to pay or extend.). It's rare to find parking on the street near the restaurant and even if you do the limit is 2-3 hours. The two hour one isn't enough for a meal. Parking is tight but not bad for those of us from SF. Also a popular destination for Asian Americans because of the view ambience and seafood. read more

For dessert, I had the beautiful tiramisu topped with edible flowers, and it was absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed the crab cake appetizer, which was fantastic, especially with the sauce. For our entrées, we tried the chicken sandwich and the Chianti-braised Wagyu short ribs with polenta and baby carrots i loved this one! It all was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Last night, we went to Scoma's for our anniversary dinner. I got to wondering why I ever go anywhere else. This restaurant is perfection every time from start to finish. We were seated in the half booth almost towards the end, on the left of the main room. I loved that table. Most of the tables there are great. We also had someone assisting our table and he was the best too. OK onto the food. What I love about Scoma's is that they have seasonal menus along with their regular menu. First up for me was the stone fruit salad. It was a taste sensation unlike anything else I've ever had. White peaches, cheese, beautiful, crisp, lettuce, and a peach vinaigrette that was to die for. My guy had the heirloom tomato salad and I also had my fork in his plate. The multicolor tomatoes were so sweet. Our entrées came next and I ordered the Dungeness crab spaghetti again. I can't give it up when I go to Scoma's because it is so awesome. My guy got the ahi tuna and we both were crazy happy with our meals. Interestingly, there was a chicken Parmesan on the specials menu. Well....being from back east that is one of my absolute favorite meals of all time but how could I give up the crab spaghetti?
