A very cute spot to end the day in Sausalito! Sausalito is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Bay. Aurora is a restaurant where you can do exactly that! Their floor to ceiling windows allow a comforting view of the local hilly residential area. The food itself was reasonably priced and delicious! It all came out so quickly as well. Our waiter was wonderful and ensured our water glasses were never empty. I loved the prosciutto pizza; it felt light and savory and served the two of us very well. The salad was also refreshing, and the arugula and beets paired nicely together. I recommend this place if you want to try something off the main road! read more

All the pastas are delicious here! I ordered the traditional pappardelle alla bolognese- pasta was homemade with a delicious meat sauce. My husband ordered the Alfredo fettuccine with shrimp and he loved his dish. I ordered spaghetti marinara for the kids and it was as very flavorful with tomato and basil. Our friends ordered the carbonara and loved that. They also ordered ravioli and seemed to enjoy that. Overall it was a great pick for something both adults and kids would like. The service was attentive. It does have nice views of the neighborhood but not of the bay. It's off the Main Street so not as crowded which I liked. I took a last minute trip to Rodeo beach and found it was a bit late to make it home by the time I wanted to eat. Popped onto Yelp and found Aurora, but not by accident, I was looking for a gluten free menu. After a few twists and turns due to the tunnel being shutdown on the way back, I of course landed a spot doors away. I could see the white linen before I got to the door and felt a bit shy with my shorts, T and hiking shoes but I want in anyway. I apologized for my appearance and the host was super sweet and let me pick a table. At that point, there were 3 families there. There was also a good stream of take-out happening tho I'd definitely suggest eating in. I picked a table with a view As tempted as I was to get a drink, I was just getting over something with flu like symptoms and didn't want to risk getting tired from alcohol or the 'very hard to turn down' lemon-soda. In stead, I kept my adult hat on and ordered the arugula salad and the sausage and mushroom pizza. I needed both and knew I could take some home. People around me were really enjoying their wine The atmosphere was calming and relaxed, the view was sweet, there was fun (much in the background,) music. Then came the food! The salad was so fresh and delicious. Before I knew it, I ate all of it! So good - Yay greens and beets! The cheese and nuts were also fresh! I only have a photo of my pizza because I wanted to tell friends about the place. The gluten-free pizza was perfect in size, which means I had a little leftover after eating my salad. The quantities and freshness of the ingredients was also very pleasing! I wouldn't change a thing. 3.8 Stars Overall. The interior is home-y, open floor plan with wide windows. Some seating offered outside as well. Came in on a Sunday afternoon after strolling through Sausalito. A little bit of a wait for a party of 2 but once seated, service was fairly quick. We ordered two pasta plates, ravioli and a penne. Ravioli was a little undercooked, not quite al-dente. The sauce for both we went with a red (marinara) and just was not impressed by either but preference was definitely for the ravioli sauce. A little bit of a hassle for parking as it's in a residential area so do keep that in mind especially if visiting on a busy day. read more

Came here for brunch with my friend and ended up having a really great time. I was a little nervous at first because it was pretty quiet when we walked in, but the service was super friendly and fast, which immediately put us at ease. Arugula salad While it's true the word "beet" isn't in the title, you still wish the salad was better balanced with more beets. It's a lot of spicy arugula to digest without beets (or nuts or cheese) to equalize. Papardelle Bolognese Homemade noodles and delicious. Portion size on the smaller end, but still very satisfying. Sautéed Spinach I know it's just a side but I really liked how it was prepared. Just the right amount of salt and not overcooked where you completely lose the structure of the leaves and stalks. My new favorite dinner spot in Sausalito! Came here with my bf on a Friday evening and ordered the Caesar Salad, Margherita Pizza, and their Lasagna. Everything was delicious, each dish was balanced in flavor and generously sauced without being overdone. For dessert, we had their Tiramisu and it was the perfect treat to end our meal. Aurora wasn't quite what we expected. We were hoping for standout Italian food, but overall the dishes fell a bit flat. We ordered the cheese pizza, calamari, bruschetta, and Caesar salad, but it all lacked seasoning, and the pizza in particular was pretty mediocre. That's what I was hoping would be a standout. Whomp. That said, the service was excellent--attentive and friendly--which we really appreciated. We did order our food togo, so maybe that had something to do with the taste. We stopped at Aurora for lunch on our way back from a visit to Muir Woods. Aurora is situated on the way into Sausalito and there's street parking, which makes it easier to avoid the crowds closer to the water. This is a big plus in my book. Ambiance and Service: The interior of Aurora is lined by massive windows with nice views of Sausalito (but not of the water, unfortunately). I was pleased when the host, who was also acting as a server, bartender, and barista, sat us at table in the corner with the best view. He was juggling a few tables at the same time by himself, but we never felt neglected. The interior walls and linens are light which contrasts nicely with the wooden floors, tables, and the dark-colored bar. Food: After our hike at Muir Woods, I was ravenous. Fortunately, the food at Aurora was quite good. I ordered the salmon alla siciliana (think capers, basil, and tomato sauce). The salmon was excellent -- perfectly cooked and the tomatoey sauce complimented it well. Accompanying the salmon were mashed potatoes and pan-roasted zucchini, broccoli, and carrots. The veggies, which were surprisingly good, were cooked al dente and with just the right amount of salt and butter. This dish made my hangry heart happy. My partner opted for the house made pappardelle with bolognese. He shared a taste with me -- it was comforting and meaty and everything you want in a bolognese. He completely cleared his plate, which I firmly believe speaks volumes about a dish. My mother-in-law did not have much of an appetite, so she ordered and finished the proscuitto-wrapped cantaloupe. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by our visit to Aurora. I'd absolutely recommend a visit if you are in Sausalito, particularly if you are looking to avoid the regular tourists traps by the water in Sausalito. read more

Great little gem in Sausalito! After talking with my favorite AI, decided to try this place which is only a four minute drive from the Boardwalk. This was ideal for my goal: to find quality food, not tourist crappy food. Had Caesar salad and 2 pizzas that we shared in our group of three. Spent $74 total plus tip. Server was owner, very friendly. This place had a really welcoming vibe. At first, I wasn't sure because of the white table cloths, but it ended up being just the right balance of a little bit of fancy and just the right ambience. It was very pleasant. First time at this restaurant very nice experience. Had a long day with a group of friends from a hike and beach day so we were hungry. Very good service and food. Definitely nice ambience with great views to outside. Lighting was low but had these very unique table lights to provide lighting onto the table without over powering.. any way we got different dishes ravioli, spaghetti calamari. Pleasantly surprised by this place! Our server was very kind and friendly with us. The decor here is very nice and is a mix between casual and classy. I got the spaghetti carbonara (5/5). This was very good! Spaghetti was made just right, it was very creamy, and the pancetta added the saltiness I wanted. I just needed to add more salt and it was perfect. Definitely recommend and would get again for sure. My bf got the funghi e salsiccia (3.5/5). It tasted as expected, wasn't bad but didn't stand out either. Next time he'd try a different pizza Tiramisu (4.5/5) was also very good. My bf is picky with his tiramisu and he liked it and thought that it had a good amount of coffee flavor. He still thinks it could have more coffee but overall it's one of his favorite tiramisus he's had. I prefer sweeter desserts but I still liked how creamy this was. read more

We just spent five great nights in Sausalito. We're old, and it's getting harder to go out to dinner, so we had food delivered from Aurora to our hotel five nights in a row. It could not have been better. We tried several things (Aurora salad is great) and they all were equally good. They arrived on time, and hot when they should have been, in generous portions. If you are taking time to read a review, this is the worst Italian restaurant in Sausalito. Anywhere else is better. We ordered 3 dishes beef carpaccio, veal piccata, and lamb chops. The carpaccio tasted like it was just taken out of the freezer. The lamb chops were cooked to well done when ordered medium rare. The piccata was not horrible. Went here with family for weekend lunch. The place had a table for walk in and we were seated quickly. The server brought out the waters and kids glasses promptly. We ordered Bruschetta, Arugula salad, Ravioli, Ortolana pizza and a margherita pizza. The bruschetta was delicious but was not as crisp as I have had at other places. The salad was pretty good; especially the dressing. We finished it in no time. The ravioli came without a lot sauce, just 3-4 spoons of tomato sauce. That was a complete let down. However, their pizza was super amazing and we ended up doubling the pizza order. Overall, a great place with a good view. There were a lot of folks there for lunch so it was pretty noisy.
