I'm not one to eat pizza crusts. In fact when I'm eating pizza I shamelessly leave a pile of crusts on my plate. Sandrino was the exception. Not sure if it's their oven or their crust ingredients but this crust-dodging Yelper finished every crumb. Sandrino had lots of seating outdoors which is perfect for mild Sausalito weather. I ordered the Stracciatella San Daniele ($27) which was a tomato-based pizza that had stracciatella (inside of burrata), aged prosciutto crudo and topped with Arugula. In my excitement of taking a photo, I knocked the pizza over. It was akin to dropping your ice cream on the sidewalk. I was so irritated and sad! A chill family vibe, the inside of this restaurant is adorned with pictures of family and friends making you feel like you're in their home. It's a short walk from the main street in Sausalito and has a distinctly local feel to it. The service was prompt and friendly. This review is not about the food but the service. We walked in and suggested bearded gentleman was standing behind the counter. He didnt say anything so it looked like a order at the counter type place. We enjoyed a delicious lunch here today for my birthday! We found a nice spot outdoors with shade. The Greco pizza was divine- thin & crispy crust & the filling was bursting with flavor. Their Caesar salad was perfect- the green were so very fresh and the dressing not too heavy. I enjoyed a delicious affogato for dessert. I would've loved to have given this great spot five stars however we found it challenging to communicate with our server who spoke little to no English. Ever since it opened, I've been wanting to try Sandrino, but the timing never quite worked out.... until this past weekend! Not sure if I caught them on a bad day, if quality has declined, or whether the reviews are misleading, but my experience was disappointing. Wanting to give a Caledonia Street restaurant some business, I forewent the lines at Joinery and sauntered over to make my choice - Sandrino, Arawan, or Sartaj. Having tried the latter two, Sandrino it was! Cue anticipation. Ordering what apparently is a "favorite", I sat down to enjoy the aptly named Sausalito pizza and a salad. While the insalata mista was fine, the pizza was a letdown. Featuring a crunchy yet bland crust, and very poorly distributed and undercooked toppings, the first slice had its toppings slide right off. Not a great start. Biting into the slice, my internal smile turned to a grimace as I rapidly realized this is the quality of pizza one can get anywhere in the country. The rest of my bites confirmed this unfortunate reality. Sandrino is simply not even in the same league as the great pizzas of Marin (PizzaHacker, Oliver's, Fratm, Picco, et al.) or even Fieldwork. The cannelloni was great. I was surprised by the almond flavor of the panacotta (and realized that I much prefer vanilla instead), but it was interesting and had a lovely texture. My son ate the bite of coffee sauce on top, thinking it was a sugar reduction- so he ate all ox the very creamy and delicious vanilla bean gelato instead. Sandrino is a very cute Italian spot that makes you feel that in your mother's kitchen. The servers were welcoming and answered our questions regarding the menu. For our party of 4, we ordered the Truffle Caciotta pizza and the Mozzarella Speck appetizer and it was enough to share! The Mozzarella Speck was delicious and I highly recommend. The server was very sweet and brought us two extra pieces of bread for our party. The bread was warm and I liked using it to soak up the remaining sauce on the plate. The Truffle Caciotta had a nice truffle flavor that was not overpowering. The pizza crust had a nice chew and was a solid pizza overall. Very quaint family run place with lots of photos of loyal patrons scattered around. The place inside is intimate and small and the owners are very nice and make you feel welcome like family. The pizzas are over $20 each some are near $30 and they are thin crust style. I ordered the rustic because I love potato on my pizza. My favorite dish was the burrata with the red peppers, delicious! It can be kind of expensive if you have a bigger group and order multiple items we paid about $70 each for a party of 6 people. They were nice and asked if we minded sitting at the communal table, we didn't mind. She, I believe the owner, told us about her special that was homemade ravioli with pesto inside. We were going to get a salad but it sounded so good we got it. It didn't disappoint. We got the burrata pizza and a lovely bottle of wine. All the food was delicious. My friend and I decided to head to do a vodka tasting in Sausalito and while we were doing a tasting, we started chatting with the bartender and another (local) patron and asked them for food recommendations. Without hesitations, this was the first place they recommended, and after listing a few more, they reiterated that if Sandrino was open, we had to go! Fast forward a quick 10 minute walk in the rain and we found Sandrino, a really cute homey place, with a wife/husband super duo running the kitchen. I'll get to the food, which was amazing, but the service and just how nice and homey this place feels gets a 6 out of 5. They told us about the restaurant and where they were from and it was just a nice chat that made this place feel all the more authentic. *Burrata salad - apparently the burrata gets flown in! It's served with bread that they owners make every morning! It was all delicious. *Bufalina - my friend is a vegetarian, so we each got our own pizzas, and she says hers was great! *Valtelina - this pizza was bomb! It had bresaola, which I've never had before, but now must go and hunt down because this was delicious! I loved that this pizza had artichoke on it, which made it unique and yummy! *We finished with tiramisu, which the owner also makes daily! The pizzas are definitely big enough for 2, so I had pizza for dinner that night too (not complaining!). My only regret is that we didn't get to try their lasagna, which we were told, is amazing! We had two pizzas, both were fairly average. The crust here is crunchier than you would expect. Prices are somewhat above average for this style of pizza, $21 for a margarita, $27 for a sausage & mushroom pizza. The Brushetta Tartufo appetizer and the Tiramisu were very good. What was really disappointing though, is the 10% fee that is being charged to customers to pay for employee health insurance. I dine out a lot in the bay area, and this is by far the largest restaurant imposed fee that I have seen thus far. While I commend the business owner for trying to get their employees benefits, offloading the cost to customers in this way is really not acceptable. read more

Website gives one price 20.00 for a pepperoni pizza and when i picked it up it was 22.50 added porcini mushrooms 7.00 (no idea of the cost figured (3.00) THEN they charge 10% for employee healthcare? 3.75 Out the door at 35.75!
