While awaiting a Dash order at neighboring El Taco Nazo, I snuck in for a rapid fire single scoop of their Ube ice cream. Imagine those starchy sweet flavors of the Filipino fave Ube, commingled with coconut...all in that uniquely dense Lappertian texture that makes them a Polynesian powerhouse!! read more

Went in a few nights ago with my boyfriend cause we wanted ice cream after Pho. Was unpleasant from the start, walked in & no one greeted us. The worker (guy longer hair) was doing something with his back towards us but the side view clear so he definitely saw & heard someone come in. There were 2 different guests in there already, a women & her kid & another women with a child. We stood at the ice cream counter for about 10 mins with no recognition from the worker. He then started to make crepes... & the both the guests left so I asked him I'm sorry we've been standing here for awhile now & I noticed both parties have left so who exactly are you making desserts for if no one is here... He said oh this is for a 2 go order.... So my boyfriend & I look at each other like what the heck... why can't you say something like "oh I'll be right you im sorry just finishing up this order" Aren't you suppose to help guests that have been waiting there 15-20 mins now first... or hey at least tell us something & him not stand there twiddling his fingers avoiding us until hes done with a crepe... & us waiting to be served. So rude & just ridiculous!! We ended up leaving. The guy was a joke. He shouldn't be working in customer service. I swear it's so hard to find good workers these days. Sucks for scoopz. PRO-TIP: You can get a stamp card here! It's located next to Mt. Sac. Plaza can get busy depending when you're here but my boyfriend and I visited during the evening and it wasn't too bad. You can get free samples of their ice cream too if you're not too sure what to get. We got a double scoop of their green tea and their pure milk ice cream. Basic, but a testament to how high quality their ice cream is. Creamy and milky, not icy in the slightest. They do not skimp out on how huge their scoops are. Definitely shareable! There's also board games here, so it's a great place for students or otherwise to hang out. I came by last weekend for some ice cream with the family after dinner next door. I noticed that they now serve Mediterranean items: Turkish coffee, Salaam Cola, pistachio & chocolate crepes (Dubai chocolate inspired), and Dubai chocolate. When I mentioned the new items to the employee, he informed me that Scoopz is under new ownership, and that the previous owner moved back to Hawaii. They still serve Lappert's ice cream and the menu is mostly same (ice cream, shakes, sundaes). I actually came back a couple days later to pick up one of their Dubai chocolates to see what the hype is about - apparently it's viral on Tik Tok. They sell bars here for $8.99 each. I spoke with the new owner, she was super friendly and when I asked where she got the chocolates, she told me she made them herself! The chocolate comes in a gold colored wrapper - I felt like I was opening a Wonka chocolate. It's decorated in gold and green chocolate on the top and is filled with a pistachio cream and knafeh. She said it was a lot of work to make and I told her it was made with a lot of love because it is soo good! It's creamy from the pistachio, but crispy from the knafeh, and such a decadent combo. Came here to get treats for the kids. We ordered Thatch Rood Sundae, Pistachio, Cotton Candy, Lychee, and Dubai Ice Cream Bar. All were good, creamy and good amount of bits and pieces of ingredients especially in Pistachio and Thatch Rood Sundae. I went with the Kahlua Truffle, very rich with dark chocolate. My wife and daughter went with the Princess cake (very fitting), sweet and flavorful. My son chose the Cookie Monster in a cone that made his mouth look like the Cookie Monster nom nom nom. Good thing there was water, the ice cream was full of flavor but sometimes you need to cleanse the pallet. Kids enjoyed playing games once they were over the afternoon treat.
