A cute little store that sells a mean chicken pie. Located in a city named Claremont, I like Pie Bakeshop should be on your list to eat. We came here on the weekend, and it was pretty busy. This store is small with only a few seats inside. But there are places to sit outside. I also got to try the spicy potato and a fall favorite pumpkin. When in Claremont, I must eat pie. I had this bookmarked for the longest time and happened to be in the area for a pickleball tournament and decided to stop by for some Lunar New Year goodies. The bakery is small and has a patio seating area in the front. The staff is patient, friendly, and helpful. The mini pies are limited and vary each day. I decided to get a dozen jelly jar pies. They are adorable and quite filling after eating one jelly jar pie. I ordered a variety to share with my family and our favorites were the Salted Caramel Banana Cream and Cookie Butter. The crust was honestly my favorite part. Even though the pies are delicious, it seemed a bit pricey to me. One jelly jar pie ranges from $8-$10. They get a ton of points for their cuteness factor. After accumulating 95 points on the Clover app, you can redeem for a free pie. Parking was easy and free. There's plenty of parking in The Claremont Packing House structure. read more

We were eating sushi nearby and didn't realize the I Like Pie shop was just right here! It was about 7pm or so and they still had a variety of selection of pies. Each pie is about $8, which feels kind expensive for what it is? I could get a whole one for around $15. The staff here was really nice as it was our first time. Although, the shop is a bit small and intimate, but enough indoor and outdoor seats to enjoy. We started off with the traditional pumpkin pie. Honestly, it tasted just like the one I get from Costco pumpkin pie lol. Although, at least the filling here is smoother than Costco's? I wish the crust would be a bit more crunchier. We also took an order of S'mores back home. We tried the s'mores the other day and it was extremely sweet. It was smooth as well, and the pie was pretty, but definitely toooo sweet for us to eat. I Like Pie Bakeshop makes me like pies! I wasn't a huge fan of pie in general, but I changed my mind after I started going to I Like Pie. They have very unique and delicious pie flavors. In addition to the flavors, the pie crust has light, flaky and flavorful thin layers. The place has nice and cozy vibe.The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. They greeted us once we entered the shop and were checking if we had any questions. We ordered multiple pies. For sweet pies we had ; -Key lime jelly pie -Lemon Buttermilk -Chocolate Sin -Salted Caramel Banana cream And for savory we got; -Chicken pot pie -Onion Potato Quiche Honestly, I liked all the flavors. I am a chocolate lover , but I couldn't decide which one is my favorite because all of them tasted scrumptious, delicious and flavorful. First time here! Loved the bright, inviting interior and appreciated the hospitable, helpful staff! I had a get together with two friends in the evening and decided to bring along three flavors of sweet pie in the jelly jar size, so I ordered them online to pickup after work. I chose strawberry rhubarb, key lime, and chocolate sin. The staff were super welcoming and friendly. (I truly believe they do like pie!) They had my order ready to go, and told me about the free rewards program for people who are regulars. They also gave me a helpful card that showcased all the flavors and their designs, plus gave instructions on how best to heat them in a microwave. My daughter wanted to try the chocolate sin flavor when I got home. I should've heated it 10 seconds at a time because the suggested 30 seconds totally melted it too much. The flavors were still really good and the graham cracker crust was still intact but I'll have to try it again either at room temp or less heated for the intended textures. Maybe the heating should be reserved for the savory pies. I don't know what I was thinking. The fruit pies eaten at room temp (2 cupcake-sized pies shared among 3 friends) boasted these thick but flaky crusts packed full of sweet and tart creaminess--two mouthfuls of each flavor was actually plenty of dessert for me! Walked in after having dinner in the promenade. This business has been in operation since 2013, it's a shame I haven't noticed it until recently. It's a clean cute little shop that serves bigger than bite side pies. We tried the two pies that are frequently sold; the banana caramel salted pie and the key lime pie. I like pie is finally open again. Went on their reopening weekend. Was able to enter a drawing for a free thanksgiving pie. Stopped in for some treats before hitting Route 66. So these little pies get me every time. The potato pie had the Indian flavors it was so good. I did miss the chutney that usually goes with it they were out that day. But nonetheless I really enjoyed every bite. The crust is so golden, flakey but holds its shape, buttery but not crumbly, moist not dry, just pure perfection. Had the other pie in the car the whole time and opened it when we arrived to our destination. Let me tell you the pecan pie... goodness gracious great balls of fire this pie was so good! The crust and filling were not overly sweet like others I've tried. There's surprises with every bite packed into this palm sized parcel. It had this zen balance absolutely delicious! Service was great and attentive. The shop was very clean. Pies were organized and neatly shown behind the display cases. We got the key lime JJ and the salted caramel banana JJ: pie shells were thick and hardy, not sure what to make of them really because I am not a pie person. It's different from the typical graham cracker pie crust, is it better? I think that depends on your personal taste. Speaking of which, I found both to be a bit too sweet for my taste. The key lime flavor lacks tartness and that citrus tangy taste. I wasn't able to detect anything special about the salted caramel banana pie, there were two pieces of banana and beyond that was just some pudding and whipped cream on top. Come visit while they're still open! According to their Instagram account, I Like Pie Bakeshop will be permanently closing its Claremont location after February 23, 2025. I stopped by around noon, and some flavors seemed to have sold out. They also seemed to have run out of their I Like Pie merchandise. Their mini pies cost around $10, which is a bit pricey. I tried to contact the store via email about a major issue, but was completely ignored. My friend suggested that I call the CDPH and report a class II quality complaint, but I did not because I didn't feel like it. Long story short, they did not have proper refrigeration of their products at the time of the original writing (Nov 2023). My spouse and I stopped in here for dessert one night; a normal date night after sharing a dinner at Bua Thai (this is pertinent). My spouse got a vegan berry pie cup and, since it was during the holidays, I got a cheesecake pumpkin pie cup. These were very truly in an un-refrigerated display case at the counter (before there was one installed). Unrefrigerated dairy products left out for more than 2 hours can develop dangerous bacteria. At around 2 am, I woke up in extreme digestive distress. I tried to trace the culprit of the food poisoning. Having once held a food handler's card, I had a pretty decent idea of food-borne illness gestation periods. My spouse and I had tried 2 new things that night, Bua Thai's Pad Woon Sen, and the pies. However, we shared the same plate of Pad Woon Sen, and had different pies; when I got sick, my spouse was fine. I know that some bacteria can take many days to develop, but I hadn't eaten anything out of the norm in the past 2 weeks at that time. So, eliminating all other possibilities, it was the pie. I had to go to Urgent Care for help to stop the digestive distress. I was in incredible pain and could barely keep water down. It took about 5 days to regain my ability to eat solid foods, and I couldn't work or take care of my kids during that time. I contacted the store via email with the sole intent to tell them to watch out for this problem, and they ignored me. Please note that the refrigeration unit in the front was placed AFTER I wrote this comment and contacted them. I was not inclined to try the location again, since I felt it was dangerous at the time it happened. I am less inclined to do so after reading their response below. [UPDATE: I do not take kindly to trying to be discredited, I am a fair and even-minded reviewer in general. I am glad that this shop has taken the health of their customers more seriously since I left this review, but I will not edit my initial review to paint a more favorable picture that isn't accurate.] read more

**May 2023: Saturday Evening Visit** It was national apple pie day and I needed to celebrate the iconic dish. I was in the Pomona area and didn't finish my photoshoot until late. Most pie shops were already closed but "I Like Pie Bakeshop" was still open - thank goodness! When my friend and I entered we noticed all the individual portion of pies and oh my - they are so cute! There were other flavors but I was on a mission to get apple pie. Tip: Check-in with Yelp and get free ice cream with your pie! Ridiculous sweet mini pies for $8. These individual pies are so cute and a quick sweet dessert. I tried the Dutch Apple Pie and the Key Lime Pie. The apples have a lovely tart taste and full of flavor. Key Lime broke apart quick and custard was too soft with a bitter lime zest after taste. Deeeeelish It's been some time since I've been in but our two visits have been lovely. The staff is great and I love a place who has mini pies! They may look small but they're deep. They have sweet, savory and hand pies. I loved their chicken pot the most and would go to a dinner spot and get a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. A perfect meal. This place still turns out THE BEST pies EVER. ANYWHERE. SERIOUSLY. Haven't had them since 2019, and on a very recent trip to Claremont, our visit wasn't complete without a visit to I LIKE PIE BAKESHOP cuz we LOVE this place. We've only eaten their sweet pies, haven't tried any of their savory things, but I'm okay with that. So many flavors to choose from. We buy the small pies (not the mini, but not large either), and we share, but not in one sitting. We bought a banana creme, cookie butter, chocolate chess, lemon danish, and pumpkin praline. I think what makes the jar pies so nice is that you can have crust with every bite. There are unique seasonal flavors, especially during the holiday season. If there are specific flavors you want, be sure to get their early or order ahead so they don't run out. My favorites include mixed berry, banana salted caramel, cookie butter, key lime, and anything pumpkin during the fall. The staff are super friendly. This location has a restroom. And you can sign up for rewards by entering your phone number. Theres a few tables inside and outside for seating. The crust was not at all dry but not overly moist where it immediately crumbles. Each pie had a unique profile and my favorite by far was the pecan option. 5 out of 5 for quality and taste. Finally, as for price the reason for 4 out of 5 was it was pricier than anticipated. Don't get me wrong, I totally understand the prices in this economy, especially considering the quality of ingredients. It just caught me a bit off guard at the total for 9 mini pies (about the circumference of a palm). All in all, they are worth the price just prepare your wallets. Located the cutest town ever you now have this establishment with the most calorie worthy pies!!! We tried peach cobbler and the apple pie! 7.50 each i believe. Seriously in love with the pies from I Like Pie! So a week ago I was craving pies and unfortunately, once you taste the pies from I Like Pie, there's no coming back. Here we were, debating the hour drive but decided to take the trip to grab some cookie butter pies. Once we made it, the staff were as sweet as ever and they told us that they're opening a location in Pasadena! Can't say how excited we are for their opening, but we have been singing I Like Pie's praises from the time we tried it the very first time to having them at our wedding! Anyway, back to the amazing pies. We finally scored the Summer selection and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I've found a new favorite... Peaches and Cream! Sad to say that they've changed their menu to fall and don't get me wrong, my friends and I are excited to pick up some of our favorites, but I will be dreaming of the Peaches and Cream until it's return. For now, time to enjoy the fall and winter selections! Now that they're opening a location about 30 minutes away from us, we might finally get to try their spring menu as well! I Like Pie Bake Shop is a name that is an understatement. While this is a small shop, the quality of choices is over whelming. We stuck with the sweet side. The also had savory pies, think of it such as chicken pot pie or pulled pork pie. The staff was very helpful in the decision making process and understood my decision dilemmas. I like options: they had half sized portions, in addition to their individual sized pies. So we choose the half sized portion of the Chocolate Chip Chess pie. I don't know if this was a wise decision, I would have much preferred an individual sized pie. The filling was rich and creamy. The chocolate was also rich, and sweet. The crust was a bit thick on the bottom, but it was good - not too sweet and didn't detract from the chocolate. Our individual sized selection was the Banana Foster. The crème filling had the true banana flavoring and was rich. The crème topping was also rich. (Have I used rich enough in this review??) To my great surprise, when I mixed a bit of the Foster and the Chocolate Chip flavors together - it was incredibly good. We'll keep this place on our naughty list. read more

At I Like Pie bakeshop they specialize in little jelly jar pies, so not only are they delicious, they are also ADORABLE! I love when my food is cute, so I knew this place would be a winner. My sister and I stopped in to grab a couple pies to go. We tried the cookie butter and chocolate chip chess pies. Both were very good! They recommend that you eat the chocolate chip one warm, and it was so good! Ooey gooey and delicious. The cookie butter pie was eaten cold and resembled a cream type pie. Upon entering, I was excited to try these mini pies but was a bit disappointed with the selection. For a pie shop, to only have 7 flavors available was a bit of a let down. I opted for the Lemon Berry ($6.25) and Chocolate Chip Chess Pie ($6.25). While cute and presented like a little cupcake, the pies were extremely small (think 2-3 bites) for the price. I would love to have tried more flavors because they all sounded delicious, but I could not justify the price. I love this place! We often take a stroll around Claremont Village and yes, sometimes, we end the day by picking up a pie, or two, or three, to go. You can definitely enjoy them on the spot and the staff will gladly heat up the pie(s) for you. This time we took them home. Each pie was boxed individually and the savory ones comes with a heating instructions! How cool is that. That way, you can always heat it up and enjoy them for later. The pie size is "individual". But you can definitely share them too. So you can try more of these delicious goodness. I bought the turtle brownie, the shepherds pie, and the chicken pot pie. All are delicious! The shepherds pie come with a tomato sauce on the side. The turtle brownie is not too sweet. I love the crust in all 3. Love it!
