This however is not a sit down place, it's a cook to order burger joint. I recently moved next door so figured I'd give them a try. The food was okay which was disappointing when you only make burgers. A double cheeseburger with fries and a coke was also $23 which was ridiculous given the service and decor. The spot looked dated not vintage. They had old lawn chairs in the restaurant that looked like someone picked up from the side of the road. The walls leaked cold air and I was cold the entire time. First night in beautiful state of Washington and we stumbled upon Scooters Burgers. It may not look like much but wow oh wow did it deliver exactly what I was craving. I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger, an avocado burger, bacon cheese fries, and a strawberry banana milkshake! Everything was delectable! The milkshake was so fresh and creamy. The burgers were juicy and tasty, and the skinny fries hit the spot! The guys working were quick , efficient, and friendly! The prices are justifiable in our current economy. Second burger spot on my unofficial burger tour - Scooters. To get straight to it. The burger and the fries delivered. Let's start with the Double, bacon cheeseburger. If they have something like this. I have to get it. The burger was loaded with the usual suspects - lettuce, pickle, tomato all on a seeded bun which is a nice touch. The patties seemed to be a bit larger than the usual size or perhaps because it was doubled. The charbroiled flavor was definitely there, and the toppings did there thing. All present in each bite. I found the "sauce", sometimes "secret sauce" which as many of these burgers' spots tout - is a sort of mayo-based sauce. It was kind of liquidy, compared to say Lil Woody's from my first tour. So, I had to fall back on ketchup from home. I ordered a cup of "Scooter sauce for the fries". One among about 8 or so different sauces you can get for an additional 0.35 per cup. I wasn't impressed with this either - it is again a mayo-based sauce with relish in it. I found it to be too mayo-ie. The fries were great. Nice sized, and very crispy. A small order will do. Beyond the food which is pretty good with some eh regarding the sauces, the place is similar to 'Dicks' in its present form. You walk up order, take out and eat. Staff was friendly enough. They'll call your number when it's ready. There are some tables with benches, but I took mine to go. Prices are a bit on the higher side. for example, $3+ and up starting for a small drink. The actual place has an old school look, but beyond that isn't much to look at. So, the verdict is its pretty good. Definitely worth trying if you're into a good ol' burger. Doesn't look like much when you walk by, but this burger spot is not to be missed when in Ballard! They even have some awards for best burger in seattle back in the day. Well, its great that its so close by to me! They have some picnic tables outside in the parking lot but it definitely has a grab and go kind of vibe. Even the inside isn't much to look at. However, the staff are very friendly! They are happy to answer any questions about the food. I ended up trying the guacamole burger. It was perfectly cooked and moist inside and comes with some special chipotle mayo sauce too. I also really liked the fries here! They are perfectly crispy! It took 30 minutes to get my order.. it looked like there were 2 call in orders (not big) ahead of me, but even so, waiting 30 mins for an okay burger and fries is nuts. $18 for a burger and small fry is pretty steep, but standard these days in Seattle.. I did see on the menu they sell 6 chicken wings for $20 though- that's insane. Anyway- Got home, and saw they had given me sweet potato fries instead, which I did not order, and the burger wasn't bad but was just a normal cheeseburger w LTO and then bbq sauce and a pineapple slice. Frozen burger patties thrown on the grill. Bun's stale and smashed and toasted into a squashed bun. Fries are nothing to speak about and the fry sauce is nothing to write home about. Fry sauce is mayo, banquet relish, and catsup. I liked the self-service kiosk, but the lobby is dirty and the exterior of the building overhand is damaged. The outdoor seating picnic tables are broken and wrapped in duct tape. The smell of the exhaust of the hood system smelled of rancid oil. Completely ruined my appetite. read more

Well I dunno if anyone ever accused Scooter's of being fast food, but they'd be wrong. They always seem to take forever...this time I waited nearly 30 minutes for a bacon cheeseburger with three people ahead of me. At least the food is fresh when you get it though. Here are my pro tips: their bacon isn't worth it for me, I stick with a straight cheeseburger now. Get onion rings or fried mushrooms (with tartar sauce) - their fries are very meh. Get a milkshake - they're quite good. I hate to say it, but as much as I want to support the local guy, I like Five Guys' burgers and fries better. Scooters still makes a pretty good burger though, and has some mouth-watering fry alternatives, with equally good shakes. Scooters Burgers, be warned. :) I usually wouldn't do this but after today's experience, I felt folks should be warned before they spend their hard-earned cash. I have been going to Scooters since 1998 and even after they sold (10? years ago) there may have been little changes, but the burgers were still great, the fries awesome and the shakes some of the best in town. I haven't been in a couple months and woke this AM to a Scooters craving. So, at lunch time my son and I drove down, ordered the usual (Cheeseburger w raw onion, Fries, 2 tubs of tartar and a coke) and sat down. When the meal came, I noticed right away that the fries were different as well as the burger packaging. No big deal but as soon as I took a bite of the burger, dang, I knew things had really changed, and not for the better. They have a new "special sauce" that tastes more like a BBQ sauce and the burger tasted like it had come from the bottom of the freezer, thrown on the ground then grilled to an overdone brick of a patty. And it wasn't just me. My son felt the same about his and we both left disappointed and I still hungry cause I couldn't stomach to eat the whole thing. Great burger place in Ballard. I've been several times, and recently visited Scooter's Burgers again, and it was a fantastic experience! The burgers are absolutely delicious, with juicy patties cooked to perfection and a great selection of fresh toppings. Whatever you get, try some Scooters Sauce on the side for dipping. The fries are good, the sweet potato fries are better, and the onion rings are fantastic. The staff is always friendly, quick and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. I live in the neighborhood and have been to Scooter's many times. It's a family business, not a chain, and you can tell. It has a real old school feel to it, kinda divey, but I like that. I walk here, but it has a real parking lot for you drivers, and it's FREE (a rare thing in Ballard). I also really like the cashiers here. They've all been friendly to me and my Hubs. It's rare to have a cashier ask me, "What's been the highlight of your day today?" or anything like that at any fast food joint. Props. The burgers are good, on par with Red Mill, and their fries are great--crisp, but not too crisp. If you like having different dipping sauces with your fries, this is your place. Just ask the cashier what's the sauce selection (25 cents each) because it's not listed on their menu board. Sometimes the place is kinda messy with fries on the floor and/or chairs all akimbo, but that's mostly when it's very busy. But, for the good food, affordable prices, and friendly service, I'll definitely be back. ps. If Scooter's is reading this, can you tell me if the hamburger buns or bread have milk or dairy products (like whey) in them? I asked before but the staff that night didn't know. Just got an Aloha Chicken sandwich and onion rings. The sandwich was fair but small piece of chicken for the price and too much mayo. The onion rings were not edible as no taste and found no onion slices in them, just breading. Some onion may have been MASHED against inside of breading. They used to have obvious onion rings inside and had some flavor in the breading. The breading was rubbery and obviously fried some time ago. Please go back to previous ones as they were crisp and flavorful. We have always had good burgers, fish and chips and the new burger dip and order there often. read more

Ordered two burger just now which costed me $22.00 and she asked me what car was ours so she could bring it out When done. Food came a few minutes later just to find out she gave us someone else's order that was a order of fries and a sandwich which isn't what we ordered.
