The menu here is pretty sizeable which can be off putting for me because I'll often equate a smaller, curated menu to be more focused making for better food. Based off what we got, they seem to be able to deliver despite the menu size. I tried the Chik'n Bacon ranch - Crispy chik'n filet, organic tempeh bacon, smoked Gouda cheese, lettuce, tomato and creamy ranch, toasted pretzel bun. Not bad, definitely crispy but I found it to be small for almost $13. My friend had the Maverick Burger - House-seasoned 1/4 lb Beyond™ patty, crispy onion rings, organic tempeh bacon, dill pickles, choice of cheese, hickory BBQ and house-made special sauce on a toasted pretzel bun. Also pricey at $16, but it was sizeable and I tried some of it. Very good, would recommend. Where it took a bit of a dip was, I ordered some fries for us to split at $4. Those Fries were the size the of a small order of McD's fries, you know that tiny bag that you can basically pour into your mouth in one go similar to when you're down to the crumbs of a chips bag? Yeah, that was supposed to be shareable. When offering condiments, staff guy mentioned that the fries came with 1 ketchup cup, I figured ok I guess I better get an additional sauce for $0.75. This and the ketchup were these pitiful cups smaller than a jello shot. So, the mains are good, but the sides and snacks that I've seen are not worth it. I'm a long time lover of Veggie Grill, but was not as familiar with Next Level. I had visited the location at Whole Foods Roosevelt a handful of times, but this much more convenient. I am still sad that the other location is closing. I enjoy that this one has a huge parking lot/garage and is an actual restaurant where as the other was a part of a grocery store. I love that there are tons of other things in the area so I can still combine a work out class or a grocery shopping trip into my excuse to come here for delicious food. Plus I always need more excuses to come to Ballard. Everything I have had here is delicious. I have such a hard time choosing. I want to try one of everything. I am sad I don't live closer, but realize that this would cost me a lot of money. I hope one day one appears outside of King County. I love the shakes and had the most delicious steak taco on my most recent visit. I've been thinking about it constantly ever since. The lentil soup is also quite tasty and I dream about being able to recreate it. I love that the app is always offering specials to entice me to make a special trip and come in, I agree it does work, please keep this up. It is important to link your credit card or take a picture of your receipt if you are trying to rack up points, weirdly the phone # does not do it on it's own. I can't tell what is different since the rebranding, but I will keep investigating anyhow. I'm giving this place 5 stars because 4 is far below 4.6. I have yet to have anything off their menu that I did not like. Every single item I've had has been amazing. Except for 1 thing. The green smoothie thing I ordered had lumps of something I can only describe as sour buttermilk fat. I haven't asked exactly what it is yet. But the texture and consistency leads my brain to feel that it should not be in there. And that it may have fallen from a nest above the blending counter. This burger is pretty next level! We ordered some beyond burgers, a chick'n burger, special fries, and a cookies and cream shake. I'm not vegetarian/vegan, so my expectations weren't super high, but I really enjoyed everything we ordered. The portions are small for what you pay for, however. The burgers did seem quite a bit small, but flavor and texture-wise, it was so juicy and flavorful. We particularly liked the chick'n burger because the texture was crispy and a little chewy. The veggies on the burgers were also quite fresh and crisp. I'm not sure if I personally would prefer it over a hamburger, but it's definitely a very solid plant-based burger. The menu has many gluten-free and dairy-free options, and at the counter you can there's a handy card you can read over for common allergies and dietary intolerances. I was super impressed. Both of the staff members I interacted with were nice and polite. I didn't have to wait long for my order; service was rather quick. On a Friday. I ordered the Fire Chzburger on a gluten-free bun, which was pretty tasty. It had great flavors and textures, but it would have been even better if the sauce had more of a spicy kick. The chocolate peanut butter cup shake with a combination of coconut milk and soy milk was so delicious and even had crunchy chocolate pieces in the bottom. We're not Vegan but I love to try food options that use less meat or no meat at all, and this place intrigued me. It's not a plant-based shop but my plant-based diet mother would love to have this shop in her city, I'm sure. The burger patties are your standard Beyond patty, so it's really the toppings and sauces that make this place stand out. Good variety of chz/faux cheeses, sauces, and the shakes can be made with coconut or soy milk. I'm not sure why I was expecting crinkle cut fries but the thicker and seasoned fries had a slight smokiness. The Maverick ($15 after adding Chz) had a crispy onion ring and excellent BBQ sauce. Beyond Burger ($12.50 after adding Pepperjack Chz) was delicious but didn't taste unique enough for me to order again. There was a hiccup with our sodas and we were given Diet cola (very clearly diet) and when we asked if it was an error we were told they only have regular Cola so ours was not Diet. We went back to the counter and asked to change it to a different flavor and a different employee mentioned they do indeed have Diet cola and quickly got us our requested substitutes. The Cookie dough shake was so good, we ended up getting a Mint Chocolate Chip one for the road. If you like your shake with a ton of large chips, this is for you! I prefer to have to chew my shake less, but my partner was loving it. We're looking forward to trying more of the menu again soon. read more

The TLDR is from the old Wendy's commercial "Where's the beef?" - had the fire cheeseburger and chili fries - the fries were decent and would order again - felt like the burger I had was slider size and just didn't get the bang for the buck. If you are a plant person they have several options and this might be something to check out but as far as burgers go, this place will not be in my rotation. Back in May, I looked through Yelp's list of the best one hundred Burger Spots and came upon Next level Burger Ballard. I looked all around the state of Washington for burger joints, but I could only find one that specialized in vegan or vegetarian cuisine. It should go without saying that Next Level did not end up on the list. Ha ha! But in all seriousness, I discovered them by going to a place that engaged in activities that I detested! Nevertheless, Next Level lived up to, if not exceeded, its billing! There is no escape from the flames of Level's Beyond Fire Burger! Wait? Have I correctly utilized that phrase? To heck with it! But in all seriousness, the burger is dripping with flavor and incredibly delicious. In light of the fact that it was a cheat day, I went ahead and added an Organic Peanut Butter Cup smoothie to the mix so that I could call the whole thing off. Both were very much worth the one-hour and fifteen-minute travel. I really like how close this location is to the market and the waterfront; it makes the atmosphere here feel extremely friendly. The space is limited but pleasant to stay in. The only thing I have a problem with is the way the meal is presented.
