Definitely worth going for taco Tuesday! They serve all the tacos on their menu for just $4 each so you can try a lot without spending a fortune. The margarita was good - a yummy compliment to the tacos. My absolute favorite thing we tried was the chips and guacamole - it doesn't look like much, but trust me it's more than enough for two. Service was very friendly and we were able to sit in the small 'outdoor' area which had a good view of the Seaport main drag. Overall I would definitely recommend coming to Scorpion Bar! read more

The bartender was lovely but service kind of lacked bc she was the only running around while a few other were either just coming in or talking at the other end. Only observed this one time, may not be the norm. That being said, the tacos were absolutely delicious. Lone star is always that go to but I was pleasantly surprised here. I had the pork belly taco, chicken pibil taco, baja taco and Arbol pork taco. So friggin tasty. Many times, places like scorpion bar in seaport may sound so mediocre but they definitely lived up to the hype food wise. Highly recommend for the tacos. Now I have to check out the night life. Damn. Before traveling to Boston went online to find a night club but couldn't find anything close to Seaport Hotel.Once at the hotel asked Concierge for a recommendation she suggested Scorpion Bar and said it walking distance from the hotel. Had an amazing! time there, upon arriving there was treated like royalty by all of security, the hostesses, waiters, and the manager. The DJ there can't be from this planet, his mixing is out of this world! Wish that I knew his name so I could give him a huge! shout out Loved the drinks, the food, the entertainment provided by the club personnel periodically parading through club in a group formation while carrying different light fixtures each time. Went here for the club, enjoyed my time here. Staff seemed friendly, helpful bathroom attendant, many hot girls working staff. 20$ cover fee to walk in (maybe high). Floor wasn't sticky, music wasn't too loud, bathroom wasn't packed. Bar-side wasn't packed, easy to order drinks, They had dancing chicks in the center which was cool. Located close to the T by the Seaport Bridge, Scorpion Bar fits in with the Seaport nightlife. They had a wide range of tequila drinks and many different types of tacos. We started with a special that was a pitcher of margarita that came with nachos. A must-have for a group of young adults. For my entree, I had the chicken and mac and cheese bowl. At first, I thought it would be a traditional bowl but it had a lot more chicken and mac and cheese than I anticipated. Still a great meal overall. The alcohol is overpriced IMO but you're going to get that at the Seaport. Unfortunately, the service was a bit slow with the check and music a bit too loud for my liking. read more

Extremely rude behavior We were waiting in the lobby for our table and four of us went out of the premises. When we entered again, the man standing at the door (I presume he was the director/manager) started asking us irrelevant questions about why we were waiting in the lobby and why do we need to go inside. I get the concern but you need to have basic manners when you are talking to a customer. Its not like we were entering a restricted space, its a restaurant. You can't talk like that. When we were seated inside, our table was very close to the speakers and the music was blasting. We requested our server if they could seat us at a different table or if the music could be lowered down. She went and asked the manager who blatantly denied our request saying that's how the restaurant wants the music to be and also denied us another table. We were 6 people and couldn't talk to each other while we were there just because of the loud music. This place should not call themselves Mexican restaurant. How the hell you miss up a burrito. Really street cart in Boston makes it 100 time better then this place. By the way who hell decide that putting potatoes in a burrito, and thought it was a good idea. As far as I know there was nothing wrong rice it was already perfect. Came here on opening night, unintentionally. Main area is on the 2nd floor, which required getting an extra stair climb workout. Could get interesting on the way out after a few drinks. Drinks; Maragritas, duh. Fiancee got the clasico, I went with the diablo. Both were a bit on the sweet side. Round 2 was better, maybe the bartenders just warming up? Food: somewhat disappointed that they don't have complimentary chips/salsa when every other Mexican place on the street offers it. We went with the papas fritas to start and street burritos for the main. The Californian was essentially steak and fries with avocado--interesting combo, I liked it but I could see others thinking it a bit odd. Service: A+, Attentive without being overbearing. Would I come back? Sure. Overall, I think the venue lends itself better for hanging out with friends and having a few bites and drinks or watching the games (lots of tvs, plus one giant one) than a lowkey dining experience. read more

I only gave this place 1 star because i need to put a star in order to write a review. Decided to go out with some friends for the night. You need to wait 30-45 mins outside because it was a "short" line. Then once you go in the door. You need to wait another 1 hours. It's been 1.5 hrs already and 4 parties left ahead of our group. On top of the $20 cover when you're not even moving the line for this place. Please people do not waste your time and come to this establishment. Especially for the people who are out of town or out to celebrate a special occasion. You'll end up making friends with strangers in line as you're waiting all night to be standing at the counter to pay. Terrible place. Save yourself. Go somewhere else. read more

Save your $$, and your eardrums, and just avoid this place. I went a couple weekends ago for a friend's birthday. She had a reservation and luckily we were seated right away rather than waiting in the ridiculous lines you read about on Yelp - that's where the upsides ended. I get that this place is a bar/nightclub, but the noise level inside is god-awful. Our party basically sat there and stared at each other because it was impossible to hear each other unless you literally spoke directly into someone's ear. The decibel level only went higher as the night went on. By the time I left, my ears were ringing, as if I had been at a concert (instead of a douchey, trying-too-hard-to-be-hip meat market bar). Service was apathetic. Water glasses were never re-filled (we were there for about 4 hours). The food just straight up sucked. I had the California burrito, which had the saddest, driest little strips of steak I've encountered yet. My dining companions all seemed equally unenthused about their meals, as most of us left about half of our meals untouched. I'm currently unable to drink alcohol, but the general consensus was that the drinks were crappy and overpriced. My friend sitting next to me ordered a mojito, and complained that it tasted like black licorice (???). Another friend ordered a drink with no ice. The waiter rolled his eyes and then brought her a drink with a long, nasty HAIR in it. Gross. Overall, probably one of the worst dining experiences I've had in the last decade. I'll avoid Scorpion Bar in the future at all costs. read more

This restaurant just might have the largest and widest selection of tequila/mezcal in the city. One of the top 2 places for the best margarita as well. However was not expecting the burrito to be as big as it was nor as spicy (still a good thing). Another side note the vibe is just right from the music setting the mood to go with whatever game is on any particular evening. I first came to Scorpion Bar when it was in its night club mode. The drinks were awful, but average as far as night clubs go. Then I came for dinner, expecting more, and the drinks tasted the same, as I'm sure they were just as hastily-made as when I fought for space at the bar when I came at midnight. It is hard to believe the manager/owner/bartender tasted the pre-made "house" margarita mix they use in all their drinks, because it's that bad. Disclaimer: we left before we could even order an entree, because the $14 chips and guacamole, along with the drinks, was that awful. One of our drinks tasted like medicine, and that's exactly how it looked. Also, you have to PAY for the chips and salsa... at a MEXICAN restaurant. The only nice thing I have to say about this place is they have whole, fresh limes, and decent 80s music. I had low expectations for a bougie Mexican restaurant in Seaport but after eating at Rosa Mexicana, which I know can also be pricey but was surprisingly good, I thought I would give this place a chance too. First of all, the cheapest food item on the menu is chips & salsa at $5. A little sad it wasn't free but when my friend ordered it for the table, the salsa was literally on par with the canned Tostito's salsa you find in grocery stores. It did not taste fresh, was soggy and chunky, and the chips were maybe the best part, which doesn't say much. I wanted a light snack so I glanced around for chips & guac, thinking it'd be like $7/8. Nope, $14. No thanks... I ended up ordering the beef empanadas for $9. It came with two and while technically an appetizer, it was decently filling. But at that point I had already eaten a bunch of chips and salsa so your mileage may vary. I also ordered two margaritas. One regular, one jalapeno. They were not strong and tasted pretty watered down. At $12-14 per drink in a normal drink glass (think a shorter water glass, not a tall pint glass), this was also definitely overpriced. In total including tip, I spent $42 that night. Nearly $50 for some sad chips, diluted drinks, and 2 empanadas? Definitely not worth it at all. Save your money, go someplace else. I also heard this place charges cover on weekends and my mind was blown given how terrible the drinks and food were. read more

Missed the mark... I'm not one to spend time writing a yelp review, but the overall experience at Scorpion Bar was laughable. I went there on a Saturday night with 6 other friends for a birthday party. Beautiful place, nice ambiance and great background music. My initial perception was impressed. That was promptly skewed for the rest of the evening. Service was beyond slow. We had to get up and leave our table to find our server to let her know we needed more water, another round of drinks, possibly clear off our table if it's not asking too much. It's pretty sad when you want to spend money at a restaurant and they are don't even want to take it. Our main course took 45 min-1 hr after we finished our apps. By the time we got our entree, the majority of our table wasn't hungry anymore and pretty turned off by the restaurant. We elected to do desert for the birthday girl with candles etc...Our table was not cleared of any plates from our entree and the dessert was dropped on the table while the server walked away. The funniest part came when we wanted to leave the restaurant and settle up our tab. Someone came by, with all 7 of us sitting at the table, and dropped off supplies for bottle service in the middle of our table and began to setting up... Really!?, so we're attempting to leave, your servers are too slow to let us pay the bill and now you're setting up bottle service on the table we are sitting at. We felt extremely disrespected and management did absolutely nothing to make it right. I get the slow service, the need to convert our table to bottle service, but the fact that nothing was done to make it right by management is unacceptable. I went to Scorpion Bar with a big group for Cinco de Mayo. We had a great time, but the food, drinks and service were average overall. I wouldn't be opposed to giving some of the other dishes a try, but I won't be rushing back. FOOD We started with chips and guacamole which was definitely a highlight. The guac was great and the salsa was pretty good as well. Some people ordered nachos which I didn't try but they looked solid. For the main course I ordered pork tacos which were fine but nothing special. DRINKS Cannot bring myself to give a Mexican restaurant 4-5 stars unless they have a solid house margarita. This one did not impress - it tasted overly sugary and like it came from a mix. They do have a ton of different margarita varieties though, so perhaps some of the flavored margs are better. AMBIANCE This restaurant is actually fairly confusing as far as ambiance. The food is squarely Mexican, but they also serve scorpion bowls (hence the name I guess?) and then there's also an element of country western (bar dancers wearing cowboy hats?). Definitely feel like they need to sort out the vibe they are going for here. SERVICE Service was okay. It started out really slow to get drinks when we first sat down, but that was probably due to the size of our group (16 people). They definitely picked up the pace a bit as the meal went on which was good. read more

I only recommend going here on a Friday and Saturdays. And the food is just not great I can probably get the same type of food with a better value at Taco Bell's. I had the taco salad. It was better than the other salad on the menu. The empanada was good with the dipping sauce. I decided to check this out because it was Sunday and is football night so instead of going to the wonderful restaurants in Providence I decide to stop by here. For some reason I want to cancel my judgment and came here. I think I would come here again only on a Friday and Saturday is where they have the DJ. Everything is expensive: The parking and paying to get in. Also, don't forget your paying to get your a coat checked. Providence you tip what the person deserves. My suggestion is to leave your coat I. The car unless you want to pay or sweat it with a hot and humid room where everyone is standing around the dance floor. It was a waste of time driving from Providence to Boston. There is more stuff going on in Providence. Cons: Expensive to park, high charge for cover and coat check. I found the hostess was appalling and extremely unprofessional. The hostess with long brown hair who wore light-washed jeans and a black Scorpion t-shirt was rude and upset every party who came up to the hostess stand. I have 3 years of hosting experience in Boston. I have never seen a more unfriendly, rude, unprofessional hostess in my life. My initial impression of her was unwelcoming and apprehensive to seat my parents and me; I found this was strange to me because it was 4 pm on a Sunday and the patio was half empty. I asked twice to be seated in the sun; she ignored me and eventually mumbled that the sunny tables were reserved. I noticed multiple open four-tops in the sun for the entire duration of my hour and a half stay. As I watched throughout my meal, every walk-in and reservation she sat were not pleased with their seat allocation. I noticed she ignored waiting- parties and argued with numerous parties at the hostess stand. Three big, burly men waited 20 minutes to be seated. The hostess eventually sat them at a small 2 top in the shade and pulled up an extra chair. The men were extremely upset and uncomfortable. She was often on her phone and did not thank my family as we left. Advice: Your hostess is the first impression of your restaurant. Please, hire friendly, professional, experienced front staff. Other than the hostess, I thought the loco nachos and beer were delicious and we were very pleased with our server. read more

Terrible experience. We made reservations recently to try out this new spot. It feels like an upscale chain Mexican restaurant meets cheap Vegas strip tourist bar/club. I'm sure they get a lot of business but they won't get mine again. Service was beyond horrendous. Wait staff flow by but don't look in your direction or check on you. The food is overpriced as are the drinks. We got some tacos, Guac and one of the entrees. None of it was that good. It was ok I guess. At a certain point they care more about setting up for the club than their restaurant customers. Yeah part of the way through our meal staff start coming out and putting up ropes and turning the place from restaurant into a club. All very cheap. Most of the customers are young post college crowd who I'm sure have a blast but don't appreciate a good dining experience. If you are going to try the food or service or want a new spot to hit up I would vote a hard pass on this place. read more

Hmm a super trendy looking place in an awesome location. I had the veggie fajitas and a jalapeño margarita and was super excited about having decent Mexican after coming back from Mexican dessert Honolulu. Did not live up to my expectations unfortunately. The good: fajitas had a lot of food! I was very very full for around $14 which is pretty normal in a Mexican restaurant but still a good thing. I liked the chips quite a bit as well and the ambience was great although it would have been wayyy better to sit outside. Why it gets a 3: - charge for chips and salsa without saying it's extra. Chips good, salsa wayyy too small. - never brought back leftovers and never came back after giving the bill - drinks a little weak and pricey I probably won't back but maybe go to happy hour? if i could give it a zero i would wouldn't recommend this to anyone that is likely to get carded my friends and i were in town for the weekend and we went in for drinks. they carded us and took our iDs to scan them, about 20 minutes passed & we weren't served. our iDs weren't being returned so we asked and were told that they were being scanned. minutes later a guy comes behind us and asks if we have backups for those, he was rude and condescending. he accused us of using fake iDs despite the fact that they were most definitely real. my friend asked if they always did that to people who had out of state iDs and he got mad and said we had to leave. before i left i asked why he even thought that it was a fake iD and he said the pattern on my face instantly gave it away?? ridiculous that whatever system they use to scan doesn't regularly update to keep up with the changes iDs from other states go through. read more
