We were told the part was in and it would be replaced the Friday or Saturday at the latest BEFORE the storm arrived. My mother/I called on Friday/Saturday before the storm and Sunday/Monday during/after the storm. We only get voicemail and no one has called us back. We have tried THREE different numbers which all end at the same voicemail. However, our neighbor three doors up, who also uses Engel received a call back and has an appointment on Tuesday. They are getting a full heater replacement while my mother is only having a component replaced in order to control her fluctuating temperature. Unfortunately, without the new board, her utility bill has doubled! The lack of response and the unrealized and undelivered expectations for an elderly person who is trying to survive the winter with temperatures in the teens is unacceptable! Shame on Engel for the poor attention and customer service to a 93 year old woman's simple needs. Note: Engel managed her to this timeline, not the other way around.

I have had an extremely frustrating experience with East Coast Comfort regarding a split AC/heat…read moresystem in my apartment. I first contacted them in July when I attempted to use the AC during hot weather and found it was not working properly. I was quoted high service fees and could not proceed at the time. Later, in October, after speaking with my HOA, I was explicitly told that the unit was under warranty and that East Coast Comfort confirmed this. Technicians came out in October, but the system only worked briefly and then stopped again. During this visit, one technician appeared unfamiliar with basic operation of the unit (including how to adjust heating on the remote), and another stepped onto my bed with dirty shoes to reach the unit, which I found very unprofessional and disrespectful. When they returned in November, I was told there was a leak and a faulty sensor. The issue was still not properly resolved, and I was told that if the problem happened again, it would simply be noted rather than fully fixed at that time. On December 1, I was contacted and told I owed nearly $390, with a claim that the warranty had expired - directly contradicting what I had been told earlier. The system then completely stopped producing heat again on December 23, during very cold weather. While the charge was eventually waived, I was still told I would need to pay labor costs for further repairs, even though the same unresolved sensor issue had already been identified. Communication throughout this process - especially from Lisa - was dismissive and condescending, and I felt pressured to pay for problems that were never properly fixed. Based on my experience, this company seems focused on selling systems rather than standing behind their work or providing reliable service. I would strongly caution others, especially homeowners expecting warranty support, to be very careful.

Both Ed and Anthony were to our home in the early years of their business, performing maintenance and repairs, and one of them was here when they installed our current unit. We gave them a favorable review on Angie's List, and we have never had any complaints about them in almost 20 years, until Lisa Hawthorne. We schedule routing maintenance, so we do not have equipment failures and outages. We have repeatedly been asked by Ms. Hawthorne of East Coast Comfort to reschedule our maintenance appointments, and we have always acquiesced. This occurred again a few weeks ago, and we rescheduled for last week. Ms. Hawthorne again called the day before our scheduled maintenance appointment last week, asked again to change the appointment because of the volume of emergency calls they were receiving, and we agreed as long as Ms. Hawthorne promised we would be given priority scheduling if our system went down. The next day, our air conditioning failed, and I contacted Ms. Hawthorne. A technician came to our home on the afternoon of the next day, but he said parts had to be ordered, and it could be days before they would arrive. I have emails supporting that we requested Ms. Hawthorne to order the needed parts, and she emailed back that the parts would be $1500.00 and labor $500.00. Though we made it clear from our emails that we wanted to get the system repaired as quickly as possible, she did not order the parts and would not grant us priority scheduling. When we learned of this betrayal, we contacted William Henderson Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical Services. They worked us into their schedule for same-day service. I have an email exchange that proves how disdainful Ms. Hawthorne was to longtime customers of East Coast Comfort, both of us senior citizens, and one with a cardiac condition. A request we made to Ms. Hawthorne to speak with Mr. McCollum or Mr. Mongeluzi was ignored. In other words, other people had their systems repaired because of our kindness, so we can swelter in the heat and humidity. I consider their behavior toward us to be elder abuse. Good riddance East Coast Comfort, we are now receiving our comfort from William Henderson.

They explained everything to me and gave me a quote. They fixed another plumber's shoddy work (Ben Manis Plumbing-DO NOT USE HIM EVER!!!) and did not leave without completely checking both my plumbing and HVAC systems.They cleaned up after themselves and suggested that I get a contract (at a reasonable price!) for both systems for peace of mind which I did. I had the fill valve purchased new from Home Depot as I thought it would save me money to have my own new part. I also had the bidet wand. As is typical for some companies today there was a charge to come out--not to be applied towards my bill. The young man came in to see what the work was and then out to the truck to call the office on pricing. I told him/showed him, the fill valve I had purchased. He told me they will not use customer provided parts. I asked him to ask the office again about this policy , he did, and nothing changed. His pricing for these 3 jobs was over $900. I told him I wanted parts and labor to be itemized. Answer was 'we don't do that', 'we have flat fee pricing'. Between the cost and their refusal to use the new part I bought, I told him to only handle the fill valve part of the job however I insisted on an invoice with parts and labor itemized. Again, they refused to do so. I called the office to speak to the service manager, and he again refused to comply with my request, again repeated the flat fee pricing. In the end I got no-where. I asked to see the box the new fill valve came in--no surprise--same company part as what I had purchased. Cost for the 11 minutes max it took him to replace the part? $373.12 to include the $79. arrival charge. Did not get an itemized bill. What are they hiding? Knowing cost of parts and cost of labor is a routine and reasonable request of a customer, and many companies automatically provide this information without being asked. Addendum: I had the other 2 parts of the initial job completed by another company for $265.00 and automatically received an itemized bill. Note that even combining the two companies charges, the total is not close to exceeding $900 which Hirschberg quoted when they job costed initially.

Only to pay a few hundred dollars for a technician to come over and undo his work... All they did was to turn a valve and hit a button. The original worker said he was untrained and they will not send him for training. Horrible, and never got back to me after that situation. Responding to the message, you said that i do not agree with the decision - which is true I do not believe I should have paid for the first technicians' incompetence, there was no reason to turn off the valve. Then when you go to the second technician who came in, all he did was to turn the valve and restart the machine. Logically speaking - if the water heater worked - then we ran out of oil - then the first tech came after filling up the oil - how would the valve have been turned? Because I know i did not touch it and that's exactly why i paid extra for that service. And I have seen with my very own two eyes the first tech turns the valve. Those are undeniable the true and accurate facts of this scenario.
