We came for brunch on a Sunday. There are metered street parking on top of the hill (free on Sundays) or parking in front of the restaurant (paid parking). Food was generously portioned and fairly priced. $3 for mimosas with generous amount of champagne. Oysters tasted good but were really small. On the website and on printed menu, it showed that a dozen of raw oyster was $16 but was charged for $20. Apparently the menu was outdated, but our waiter took care of the price discrepancy. Fried chicken and the hot pepper syrup was good but French toast was soggy. The breakfast potatoes were cold and flavorless. The seating outside was nice with the view of the river. Overall it's not bad, but I think there are other better restaurants in Chattanooga. read more

My husband and I had a five star experience this weekend in Tennessee and Scottie's on the River was Top Tier! Food was amazing and drinks were very pretty and delicious. Rockefeller Oysters were BOMB!! Sarah W made our experience one that we will never forget. She was sweet and attentive and for being a brand new server at Scottie's she knew the menu and the drinks, she definitely made us want to come back. Saturday night we visited Scottie's twice! So it was our first time in Chattanooga and her third week there. The Managers were also awesome and very kind to my husband and I. We felt very welcomed in there establishment. Very tasty, a bit over-oiled and tiny chopped peppercinis that we didn't discover til we ate all the calamari, but the crunch and seafood were quite yummy. The appetizers were absolutely delicious. They both came out hot and ooey gooey. I honestly filled up on them. I was impressed with the steak and enjoyed a few bites just so I can have a full experience of Scottie's. The view and weather was wonderful. The staff was nice and quick. I came back a few weeks later and I will say that the amount of dip I got the second time was less and was cold, so I was disappointed with the inconsistency. Friends of ours were in town for a wedding and wanted to meet for dinner. We searched the internet and found Scotties on the River. Dinner started with drinks and a shared order of fresh oysters. Oysters were small, but very tasty. Three of us ordered steaks and one ordered Fish & Chips. Steaks were so well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The loaded baked potato was huge. Salads were fresh and more than plenty and the jalapeño corn bread and hushpuppies were so good. This was one of the best meals we have had since moving to the area. Cannot wait to go back. I think it's crummy that you have to pay to park. $5.00 for 3 hours and I was in and out in 1 hour. When I walked in I expected better atmosphere. This felt very much like a bar. I ate on the patio with a semi River view which made up for the lack of ambiance. My server was efficient and ver nice. She brought me corn bread and hush puppies included that were delicious. I had the 22 ounce filet. Sadly it was over cooked send it back. Then it came back rare. They finally got it right third time. Brussel sprouts were under cooked but had a nice flavor. Description said Sriracha honey but I tasted no heat. Just the sweet bacon. Steak was ok too chewy. Next time I'd probably order a burger. Would I go back? Wow what a beautiful restaurant tucked in the corner behind a hotel and many apartments and other shops. My sister in law had recommended this place and said not only is the food the best but the view is worth a million dollars, and she was correct. There is ample parking here but you have to pay for your parking. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted with a warm hello and seated right away. Our table was directly in front of the water. Picture perfect. I could not get enough of the view. Our waitress was just amazing. We had cocktails and then decided to order crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer. They were amazing. It was enough to share for the four of us to try. For lunch my husband had fish and chips, my sister in law had steak with two Sides and I had stuffed shrimp. Everything was really good. My sister in laws steak was cooked exactly the way she liked it. We were all pleased with our meals. Prices are extremely reasonable for this restaurant as well. We tried it several months ago and was wonderful. We went back today and they had 2/3 of the restaurant seating closed because of staffing issues. What if I didn't want to eat outside? The wait was 40 minutes. The hostess was smug when asked why the wait if so many tables were open. The manager shrugged when confronted with the obvious lack of customer service and hospitality. We took our $200 for a meal and went to The Boathouse where we were seated within 10 minutes and had a lovely and comparable meal. While vacation in Tenn with my family we went to this place because it was close to the hotel. Started out with half dozen oysters on the half shell which were fresh and tasty! What a beautiful view! The service was great and our waitress was very attentive. We started with a cup of the She Crab soup. It came out hot and fresh with lots of crab clusters!! I loved it!! Scotties has a great lunch menu - smaller portions at slightly lower prices. I ordered the stuffed shrimp ($15) lunch portion which included 3 stuffed shrimp and a choice of side. This was my 2nd visit to Scottie's, so I'm pretty torn about this review. My first visit was nothing short of amazing! I was there with a pretty large party but our food was perfect! It was so good that I decided to bring my mom and sister so they could try it. I live in Birmingham, Alabama so it's about 2 hour drive for me. It was my mom's birthday and our experience sucked! I felt so bad because I hyped them up so much based off of my 1st visit. My first visit was in May and the 2nd visit was August 21. The service was below standard the 2nd time and it wasn't busy and about 2 hours after opening. Our server in particular seemed as if he didn't want to serve us so he did the bare minimum. My friends & I recently dined at Scottie's On The River. I tried one of their daily specials, the pan-seared Alaskan halibut. While the fish itself was cooked well, I was disappointed that despite requesting the whipped potatoes to be substituted, they still ended up on the plate. The combination of the potatoes with the spinach topping on the fish wasn't ideal and didn't match the menu description. On a brighter note, the half dozen oysters I had were excellent, and the cup of she crab soup was above average. However, I encountered several small pieces of shell in the soup, which detracted from the overall enjoyment. Two of my companions ordered the scallops, and they raved about how delicious they were, which is a great sign for seafood lovers. One had the loaded baked potato which was so yummy! Visually appealing too! One of the highlights of the experience was the breathtaking views by the river. The ambiance was superb, and it added to the overall dining experience. The service at Scottie's was prompt, both drinks and food were served quickly. I enjoyed a couple of gin martinis, and they were top-notch, a definite recommendation for gin enthusiasts. It was a little warm so we decided to eat indoors by the window for a perfect view of the river. We were seated on a corner table. We waited at least 10-15 minutes before our server came around to greet us. We ordered a couple of White Claws and a few appetizers. The Cheese Balls and the Potato Soup. He brought complimentary hush puppies and cheesy spicy corn bread. The cheese on the cheese balls was cheddar. I wish it would of been a more interesting cheese, like a Gorgonzola with a sweet sauce. I wouldn't recommend ordering them. They were also a little burnt. My boyfriend ordered the wedge salad, no bacon and the Fish and Chips. I ordered the crab cake player with a side of brocolini. My favorite was the Fish he had, the breading was light and seasoned right. The sweet potato fries that he got as a side were perfectly thin and crispy. Service was great. For the location I really had high hopes for this restaurant. We were a party of 6 and got seated within minutes as the restaurant was not very busy. The menu looked good and I was surprised the prices were reasonable for a waterfront business. It took forever for our food to arrive however since we were enjoying the ambiance, that didnt matter. Most everyone thought their food was good, but average. I ordered the black and blue steak salad without the blue. The steak was a little overcooked, however the salad was inedible due to the ceasar dressing! The salt was overpowering and the lettuce was swimming in dressing:( Our server didn't make it back to check on us till everyone was almost done. Came here on our way to Atlanta. The parking is normally $3.50, but the hostess told us not to worry about it on a weekday. We love the view--even on a stormy day. It was still quite chilly on the enclosed deck, so bring your hoodie. We had the sirloin with steak fries and fish and chips. Fish was great, light breading and served hot. The chips were the size of normal chips but sliced thin. We also had the sirloin--ordered medium rare but it came more medium. A little weird on the texture like it had been tenderize. Our family stopped after arriving in Chattanooga for dinner. First, it was St. Patrick's Day so the special menu was geared toward it. We came for seafood but I ended up ordering a pork chop. However, my mom had the fried sole with rice and collards. Overall, she thought it was bland but enjoyed the greens. My sister and niece shared oysters, oyster Rockefeller, calamari, and the spinach/artichoke dip. They loved the oysters, felt the calamari was bland and needed a sauce, and they did not enjoy the dip at all. Now to my pork chop... I ordered the one with marsala sauce but on the side. When it arrived, I received chicken (oops!). The server offered to change it, which did not arrive until we were finished eating. She did leave the chicken, which a few of us sampled. It was delicious but not what I ordered. The mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts were also very good. Thankfully, the server brought a full replacement meal to go (but I accidentally dropped it on the hotel floor so not sure how the pork chop tasted, oh well.) I will admit our server said it was her first day, so I'm chalking the mishaps to that. She was very friendly. We stayed in the SpringHill Suites next door and didn't want to deal with the hassle of getting a reservation at a restaurant and being around a lot of people, so we decided to order a take-out meal from Scotties. They don't take reservations nor call-ahead. When we placed the order around 7 pm Saturday, we were told it would take about 1-1.5 hrs to fill, and we were ok with that because, well, we didn't have many options. Unless we wanted to eat fast food, we were stuck with waiting anywhere we went. The hour went by quickly, and we went over to pick up the food. Boy, was I glad to NOT be eating IN the restaurant, as it was packed full of people, with hardly any social distancing! It took another 10 minutes for the order to come out. The staff was very nice. It was rather expensive, but we did order a lot: Wedge salad, she crab soup, Polynesian chicken, Marsala chicken, and cast iron cookie bake. Wedge salad was a good size and had everything you expect from such a salad. The she crab soup was cold. Oh well, maybe it would have been better eaten in the restaurant. Loved the chicken entrees! A good size piece of boneless chicken, very tasty and tender. The accompanying sides of charred brussels sprouts, broccolini, and garlic mashed potatoes were excellent. Yes, we were hungry but the food was still tasty! The cookie bake is a giant, chocolate chip cookie flattened and served with a good helping of vanilla ice cream. Delicious after we nuked the cookie a little. We had a very good meal in our hotel room. The restaurant was too packed with people in this COVID times. The location on the water, outdoor patio with fire pit, bar, and maybe live music in warmer weather would make this restaurant a highly desirable place to dine. read more

I love this place. Been here many times on business. I live 700 miles away and stop here on my way to Florida now that I am retired. Wife says they serve the best salmon she has had in a restaurant. On this visit I ordered their burger medium rare with an over easy egg. Both were perfect. I keep my cardiologist on speed dial for burgers like this. Can't say enough! But....... We watched a new employee ruin a huge pile of oysters due to inexperience. Oystermen are walking the plank over this. After some mention to staff progress was made. I have enjoyed Scottie's each time I have stayed at the Springhill Suites for business over the past years, not tonight. Cocktails were nicely served, salad was OK with some wilted lettuce, stuffed baked potato was delicious and the star of the meal, the filet, was terrible. Perfectly cooked however full of gristle, the steak knife could not saw through it. I sent it back, waited and the second steak was the same! When I was presented the check, with no adjustments, the server said 'I'm sorry'! Me too, I will not patronize on future trips. read more

I am sure this place has incredible river front views but we got here at night so need to come during the day. We started off with cokes. I tried to order a frozen drink but the bartender let me know they were not tasting right due to a deep freeze issue. I really appreciated that because paying $10 for a drink that tastes like rubbing alcohol and sugar is not my idea of a good time. For appetizers we got the She Crab Soup and the fried pimento cheese balls. The soup was so yummy! Thick bites of crab and perfect seafood taste. I was most impressed with the pimento cheese bites. They were absolutely delicious. I ordered the blackened shrimp salad that came with hot honey mustard bacon dressing. OMG I was blown away by the flavor and presentation. Will definitely get again, Top ten salads ever for sure. My husband got the fillet and it was so flavorful.
