There has been a change in ownership/management, and the food is better. It was always good, but it's gone up a notch. I get takeout about once a month from here as part of our weekly rotation of "I don't feel like cooking tonight." Typically we get a hamburger and a cheeseburger, fries and onion rings. We split the very large portion of fries and the onion rings as well. Last night the guest in front of me ordered the jalapeño burger and I thought "Jalapeño? I didn't know they had that!" It's listed on the menu, but when you go to a place for a long time (for us, since the early 1990s), you kinda stop looking at the menu. So I tried the jalapeño burger, and I very pleased that they didn't just throw raw slices on the burger but instead grilled them a bit. It packed some heat, but without that raw grassy taste that you get from an uncooked pepper. The fries are usually quite quite good, and the onions rings can be a bit too well-done, so we ask for them "not too crispy!" and they're much easier to eat. You can get sauces such as ranch dressing for the onion rings at an extra cost. Other condiments like mustard, mayo, and ketchup are either on the burger itself or come as a free add-on. They have bison chili, and I've always wanted to try it, so I'll get that next time. The place is like one of the old-time burger shacks that you found on the side of the US highway system back in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, which makes sense, because the main drag through North Bend used to be US 10 (which is replaced by I-90 3 miles to the south). It has a bare bones inside seating area, a front patio that is great in the summer but yikes it's cold in the winter, and their public bathrooms are available only from the outside. Prices tend to be midrange to a bit higher than a chain fast food place, but the food is better IMO and you're supporting a local business. read more

Very rude. I checked yelp after my eperience to see if it was my imagination. I saw a couple of reviews from customers who seem to have had the same experience as mine. My first time here, although I visit Northbend quite often. This is a cute spot that I have been meaning to check it out for quite sometime. I was the only one in line and ordered a double hamburger. I looked away from the girl at register for a moment to double check the menu to complete my order, when I looked back I caught her giving mocking hand gestures towards me suggesting she was extremely impatient that I was reading the menu. She tried to cover it up, but the point was taken. Again, my first time here and nobody was in line behind me. I was trying to see if they had a combo option, which they do not. Not a positive experience, to say the least. I will not be back. Extemely rude. I'm sure others have had positive experiences, but there is no way I can justify supporting this business again with that type of customer service. read more

An authentic burger joint in the middle of North End! We stopped by here on the way home from Snoqualmie. The burgers were really reasonable, the waffle fries were well seasoned, and the onion rings were crispy without being greasy. We got 1 bacon cheeseburger, 1 double bacon cheeseburger, 1 hamburger, and 1 double cheeseburger. All burgers come with shredded lettuce, pickles, tomato, sauce, & relish on a sesame seed bun. The burgers were well seasoned, the bacon was crispy, and pickles were crunchy. We also got my baby a grilled cheese and it was cooked to perfection! Crispy on the outside, melty on the inside. The bread was also huge! They also had free refills on drinks which is very rare nowadays! Lastly, they had a ton of different flavors of milkshakes, malts and avalanches which is soft serve with toppings. We were too full to try any desserts but lots of other customers had milkshakes. Passing through going to Rattlesnake Lake and decided to stop at this place. We ordered corn dogs, hamburgers, fries and onion rings. Everything was very good. I highly recommend this place. I knew this place was popular and good because of the non stop people coming. Good quality ingredients. The beef wasn't your typical fast food beef. What really stood out was the vanilla soft serve. Randomly came across this cute diner while exploring North Bend. It was completely packed and the wait was very long at 3pm on memorial day - which is expected. Seemed that a lot of the crowd was people who just finished hikes and families that just finished sports. Loved all the flavor options for floats, freezes, and shakes. One person on staff here was very rude. The woman working the register (on 3/22 around 2pm) said "you people drive me crazy" to the people waiting in line. At the time, we were standing there quietly in line. Then she asked us to move the line in towards the restaurant and said, "move the line so you're not blocking the door. You know, use your brain!" My friends and I came back from hiking up a mountain out east, so after we finished the whole hike we got really hungry. Scott's Dairy Freeze came up while searching on Google Maps so we decided to come here. The place itself is pretty small, having a few indoor tables and outdoor tables. Service was average, mostly a bunch of teenagers working the front. The items on the menu included different options of burgers, lots of side options, and many desserts that is implied in the "Dairy Freeze" part of their name. I ordered the Bacon Jalapeno burger. It's what I expected out of any burger, nothing special but definitely hit the spot right after coming back from a long hike. I also wanted something cold since it was warm out that day, so I was curious about getting the Avalanche. The employee told me it was similar to a McFlurry, so that was about my expectation. I thought it be would a little "cooler" since it's from an independent local-owned restaurant, but the avalanche was a bit of a let-down. I ordered the Reese's Avalanche, but it was straight up just vanilla ice cream topped with bits of Reese's Cup chocolate. I thought it would have been finely mixed, but it was just boring. All well. I wouldn't go out of my way from Seattle to come here (like most people), but it's convenient if you're in the area or a decent place to go after a hike. The produce on the burger was fine though. Fries were also just crummy bulk purchase supply. Frozen precut potatoes coated with flour to get some crispness, but bland and disappointing. It seems like they are not really making anything here, as much as just assembling frozen ingredients poorly. After a hike all I can is this spot was perfect! We decided to give this place a try after my family hike at twin falls. Id seen this place online and saw they had soft serve cones which definitely drew my attention. We ordered food here and since it was a nice day it was fairly busy but are food was handed to us within 10 minutes! I loved the vibe here, it's a burger joint placed in a small town which makes it feel like I'm in the 50's!! I enjoyed the retro feel but for the food overall I thought it was okay. I have no complaints with the burger and fries but their wasn't anything special about it. Though it definitely hit the spot after our hike! To top everything off we went back to grab the twist cones we'd seen everyone have, and all I can say about those is wow! Definitely higher quality soft serve and a perfect way to end anyone's day. Also a perk is normally products like soft serve cones have me on the toilet for hours though this one didn't seem to do that to me, hence the quality. All I can say is I feel it should be open until 9 because we kind of had to rush to eat our food in order to get our dessert. My husband and I come out to North Bend for a few things at the outlet and never go left to the little town. Being our first time here, this place reminded us of spots shown in the Archie comic books. I told my husband, "Let's find a hot dog, and we found more here. Got ourselves chicken and chips (good size to share), chicken was pretty crispy, and our pup loved it too (just a little taste). Next, two hot dogs,waffle fries, strawberry shake (soo delicious), and a barq's rootbeer float to top it all off. Customer service was good, food, drinks were good and came out in a timely manner. Every town needs one of these joints. You know the kind--drive in or shack, simple burgers, ice cream options, and some weird statue out front. They're my single most favorite kind of restaurants ever, and even though the food rarely rises to level of "wow that's good," it's the charm that makes it. From the teen in pig tails taking orders, to the irreverent crew slinging the food, it's small town magic. In the case of North Bend, Scott's has it covered. That's exactly what you're going to find--large Yeti (?) statue included--and that's why even though I had just eaten lunch elsewhere, I needed to stop in for a shake. Chocolate banana is the great measuring stick of shakes, and so that's what I ordered. I forget that shakes outside of my home state of Utah tend to be drinkable, but the more liquid nature of the shake wasn't unwelcome. And it was still thick with plenty of banana chunks, so you really had to work to get it up the straw. Now, I dropped over $6 so I was a little surprised at the diminutive size of the shake. I don't think it was handscooped ice cream (correct me if I'm wrong?) so it was a bit steep, but darnit it was really good. Just the right amount of chocolate burn. Just the right amount of banana chunks. Smooth, but still textured. I made my way down the highway and sipped and slurped to delight. read more

Looks like a Mom & Pop shop. Food was good. Fries & tots are automatically crispy. I get it, but that's not how I like them. The burger was surprisingly good. Perfectly cooked. The corn dog was ok. It's to over cook for me, but I know that's how others in this state prefer. I highly recommend the shakes. My small Nutella shake was very yummy & thick.
