I had the falafel platter over rice with a side of baba ghanoush and spicy garlic sauce. 1) the serving was bountiful. 2) I have never had rice this fluffy and flavorful 3) The falafel was crispy and delicious- dipped in the house made spicy garlic sauce made them extraordinary 4) the side salad and hummus that came with the plate offered the perfect balance of complementing textures and flavors. The only thing I have to complain about here is my belly not being big enough to eat the entire meal. Best shawarma in Richmond. As a Lebanese man, I can attest that the shawarma here is as close as you can get to the actual thing. Nowhere else in Richmond (that I'm aware of) uses vertical spits for the meat and the meat is spiced perfectly. All the toppings taste great and the saj bread is awesome. Lamb and beef sandwich on Markuk bread is to die for, especially with some extra hot sauce and white sauce on the side. The platter plate is also good but I would choose sandwich over the plate. Don't be confused - This is the original Scott's Shawarma that is used to be a convenience store in Scott's Addition. This location is wonderful and the food is exactly what has made this place the best place for shawarma in the city. This new location has good seating and is incredibly clean. First, they got my order wrong. Ordered kebabs over rice, was given kebabs over tabouleh. The "ribeye" beef kabobs were extremely dry and unpleasantly chewy. The hummus was watery and lacked flavor. There was a super long line by the time we left, and it took a while even with just a few people in front of us. This was my first time and had read many reviews about the chicken swarma and went all out with everything on it. All of the food tastes great, but the Greek salad was ridiculously small for 16.99. It was smaller than what I would consider a side salad with barely any lettuce. I had the chicken shawarma platter which included a generous amount of food. My platter had the chicken I ordered as hot and with white sauce. Again the heat level was light jalapeno. It was over rice and came with hummus. I ordered saj which we ate with both the hummus and scooped up the meat and rice. On the side out of the options I chose lettuce, tomato, and onion. There were about 4 more options. I absolutely loved my meal. I have enough for 1 more full meal and maybe a snack out of it as well, compare it to your typical Chinese takeout leftovers lol. For me it on par portion size. I felt portions were fair for the price point. The other diners with us had a beef kabob platter and a chicken kabob platter. The chicken they did just grilled and I tasted it. It had good flavor. The kabob meals say 2 kabobs...these are two really hearty portions. We expected half of what was served. I would very happily eat here as a regular. We had our food delivered so I can't speak to ambiance. I'd previously visited the old Scott's Addition location for takeout, but the new dine-in spot on Robinson just off Broad is more convenient and has plenty of free parking.
