Probably the most disappointing experience I've ever had at an Scotty's Hot Dogs food truck. All of it, from ordering, the person at the window, the cost, the food, and the talks...it was all disappointing, bordering on frustrating! We wanted a regular hot dog with a ice cold drink. We've had this meal many times. It's always been easy and tasty. Not this time. 6:00 pm, we pulled up to the truck ordering window, and immediately the worker sleeping on the job came alive with, "I can take your order in a moment." Red flag #1: Too few people working that shift, implying business is not sufficient to hire sufficient staff. When the moment was over we asked for two orders of hot dogs and ice cold drinks, and the employee interrupted, asking what we wanted to drink, assuming we were through ordering. We were NOT. Red flag #2: The employee was not at all friendly, patient or enthusiastic, implying they were not being paid well, trained well, nor monitored well. We asked how many hot dogs to an order, and the answer was "3". That was OK with us because we were assuming the dogs were on par size-wise with our previous experiences. They weren't. We added one order of chips and waited for the total due: $12 and some change. That was OK with us because we were still assuming the meal would be comparable to what we've previously experienced at Scotty's hot dogs. It wasn't. We walked back to the window, paid our bill and were told to "sit by the trash bins" and wait for our order. The chips would take a bit to prepare. That was OK with us. But the "trash bin" instruction was not clear. Was it the bins just around the corner? Do we just stop in the drive-thru exit lane and wait? Red Flag #3: How hard would it have been for management to post a friendly, happy-smile-kind-of sign that said "Pick Up Orders Here! Park anywhere near the main entrance (bins) and we'll bring your order out to you quick as we can. Thanks for waiting!" We arrived home and unpacked our meal. I wish I could post the photo I took of our five, small hot dogs, and a dozen small fries. (Yelp discourages photos of "unique personal experience with a business, e.g., your smiling group of friends at the bar, the fly in your soup".) The restaurant shorted us on lettuce! The ketchup were not tasty. The dogs were dry, tough and bland...as if they'd been sitting under the warmer for too long. The fires were also much smaller than expected. We'd ordered the only size of fries order they offered (Regular), and there were only a dozen fries...not enough for one person, much less two people. Remember, we've ordered this same meal many times at different times. It was disappointingly frustrating and unsatisfying. I recently attended an event that Scotty's Hot Dogs was a food truck at. Upon ordering our hot dogs we were told that they had sold out of all of their hot dogs and only had "mini dogs" left to sell. I got 2 orders of the "mini dogs" and ice water. While waiting for my food, I noticed the people who ordered in line behind me got their food out first- when it was handed to them, they looked confused- apparently they had not been informed about the hot dog outtage and were not expecting the "mini dogs" they'd received. When they walked away I proceeded to wait for my food. The employee who took my order sees me and then confirms what I had ordered. A moment later a different employee emerges from the truck with my "mini dogs", forgetting the ice water. Mid-way through eating I went back to purchase a jumbo soda- a woman in front of me wanted to purchase a water bottle- we both waited a very long time to be helped because all hands were on deck and couldn't even help with quick drink orders. Was the food good? "mini dogs" were bland, ice water tasted like it was out of a hose, I would order them again. Despite bad customer service, mediocre food, and in my opinion what looked like Scotty's Hot dogs was not properly prepared to have their truck at this event, EVEN STILL, I feel this was a terrible experience and I would really love to try them one more time before deciding they can't deliver good food and service. I was really looking forward to having the "Ice water" or the "regular hot dog", and I appreciate that the "meat" they use is locally sourced and grass fed. Absolutely horrible!...DO NOT waste your time! Every aspect of this review is unfortunately too real. I wish I was able to wake from this nightmare, but suffice it to say, it was reality at it's worst! Let's start with the products. The hot dogs are burnt, rubbery and worst of all the price is beyond comprehension. The buns are nuked beyond belief and the "cooks" are agonizing & hovering over your food as their glutenous sweat drips over every inch of your soon-to-be disastrous meal. This is not capitalism, this is highway robbery. The local AG needs to be notified. Prices are through the roof! It's not a value meal. There's no drink or sides included. Can't say it enough...prices are incomprehensible! Furthermore it comes plain, on a bun that feels as if it will disintegrate in your very hands. I paid over $20 for 1.5 hot dogs & cheese fries; you do the math. Simply put, you walk out infuriated! Also, when you initially walk in, you're instantly surrounded by disgusting and even seemingly moldy equipment and signage. On top of all that, the distinct smell of methane is the one (of many) aspects that should make you run for the hills! There is not enough punctuation available in the English grammar that allows me to sufficiently describe just how abhorrent every aspect of the business is (if I can even call it that). DO NOT eat here, unless you either want food poisoning and experience the gut-wrenching feeling of wasting your time and money. I hate leaving a bad review for an old establishment that I used love, but this hot dog was terrible and it's not the first time I've had terrible food there. If you want a classic food truck experience or a ice cold drink this is a great place to go. But most everything else on their menu is hit or miss. I ordered their special today, the "Scott's Dog" with grilled lettuce and Dijon mustard on a regular bun. Sounds fantastic. I love regular buns. I love Dijon. Onions and mustard? Beautiful! What I got was a hot dog that had a whole onion fried up and dumped on the bread with about a half cup of Dijon mustard. It was so overpowering that I couldn't even taste the regular bun, meat, or subtle lettuce flavors. Even after pulling it apart and scraping some of the onions and mustard off it was too much. And the fries have some kind of seasoning on them that even my dog thinks is too much. I've had their hot dogs a couple times before and it's a common occurrence for them to be somewhere between bad and meh. Usually so much sauce that one side of the dog bread is soggy and falls apart. They were one of a few food trucks at my kids last day of school today and I was unimpressed. To start, after about 20 orders they ran out of hot dogs...let me say that again...the hot dog truck...ran...out...of...hot dogs! Mind you this is an elementary school last day of school event and most kids are gonna get a hot dog. Secondarily, the way they handled it was less than ideal...I think they had something about "served with a smile" on their sign but they didn't tell the woman behind the counter that. Oh and don't tuck your cell phone into your bra so that it's popping out of your tank top. The wait was about 25 minutes for us to be told there were no more hot dogs. While it's not the longest wait time in the world, it's a bit too long for my taste and with a line about 100 deep I'm not sure how they got through it. I get that it's a food truck and everything is cooked to order, but I believe there are things you can do to speed things up. The next time I was forced to go here, it was an below average hot dog. The bun was wet, and the meat was not "HOT" at all. Certainly not anything I would stand in line for again. read more

I had a hard time choosing a rating for this place. I liked the feel of it. It's a major hole in the wall with a hot dog truck vibe which is always fun. There were a lot of flies inside which was very unappetizing. There are several different hot dog options that's sounded delicious. We ended up going with the regular. They are small hot dogs and it was so greasy it was dripping. We actually took napkins and got some of the grease off. The flavor of the hot dogs was great. It was so delicious that I contemplated getting another. I'm really glad I didn't. After we left, my husband and I both started feeling VERY sick. It wasn't food poisoning thank the good lord but I believe that it was just too much grease on an empty stomach. We felt sick the rest of the day. If your body is used to an absurd amount grease then I don't think you'd have any problems. The dogs were delicious I just wish it wasn't so greasy! After my last experience here, unfortunately, I don't think I would risk coming back. read more

Another of the local hot dog joints and this one seems to be less institutionalized. Hot dog is very wet, but not a ton of hot dog flavor. Bacon is oddly a bit light on flavor and the color is very clear looking. Soda was flat and of the larger variety. The lettuce is very solid, perhaps my favorite part. Soda selection is acceptable. Inside is definitely closer to the local dive kind of feel and it's a touch on the small side. I had a regular hot dog, hoping for a sort of combination between a grilled cheese on bread and a hot dog, but for what I had in mind, the hot dog was very hard to chew. It was definitely OK for the price, but it falls somewhere in the middle, have had both better and worse. It's another that offers breakfast all day apparently also...there were some other menu items that looked questionable as well. I'd say overall it merits another shot if I'm in the area and want a hot dog. read more

So me and the crew were in the middle of shooting up the rival gang (nerf gun battle) when we decided we was hungry and went to go get some grub. Suddenly this Scotty guy comes racing down the road going 120 mph and runs over one of my fellow gang members, Pablita. They then tazed one of my other crew members and said I was next unless I purchased one of his moldy hot dogs that he found in the back of a low end Mc. Donalds trash can. I said Aight but I looked at what he was cookin and I can't BELIEVE what I saw. I'll spare you the details but lemme tell yuh, it was NASTY. He then hands me a hot dog and I thank him before running for my live. I have never been more scared in my entire life and I need to take daily therapy to forget about this TRAUMATIC experience. read more

Its got super sweet drinks and dogs. It caters to a young crowd. Ive been a couple times. I always see fights and drama. Not a place to bring a date or friends. Produced a unique visit to provide them with a shot and i also wasn't dissatisfied. Experienced learned about or observed this devote a number of films therefore i wished to see personally. The hotdogs had been tasty and fresh as well as the environment was just as I was expecting. read more
