First time eating a sandwich from here. This thing was an absolute unit. They actually believe sandwiches should have toppings instead of playing Subway's favorite game of "Where's Waldo?" with the meat. Then charging you $20 like they did you a favor. i've been coming to the supermarket for my entire life now. It is just been where we get groceries and every other items. However, me and my family are constantly running into problems with the staff members who work behind the deli counter, and more recently with some of the new employees at the checkout stands, sometimes I leave feeling absolutely disrespected, it's not required to be kind, but it certainly isn't OK in terms of yelp reviews. I love Scotty's Market. I usually stop in and grab hot food from their deli area on a Saturday or a day when I don't feel like cooking. Their shrimp rice bowls are my husband's favorite while I live and die for their sushi offerings. They also have an amazing BBQ Tri-tip. Lots of fun dessert offerings as well. I usually love Scotty's but yesterday I got a premade turkey sandwich from near the deli and got really bad food poisoning. I was vomiting and had diarrhea all day (12/1/25) I know it was the sandwich because I only had Cheerios for breakfast and when I first vomited all of the sandwich came out. Great sandwiches! I haven't been to Scotty's since 2015 (sandwiches were really good back then too), and finally remembered to come out here because the Safeway deli was unbearable. Deli is open at 7am, yay! Super fast and friendly service, clean little store just as I remember. $8 bucks for a sandwich is a steal in Marin and it's just really good! So good I went back a few days later. Most places you can expect to pay $13-15 for the Sam sandwich with sub-par meats and stale bread First sandwich was turkey & roast beef on fresh sourdough roll, add peppers for $.60 very good solid choice 2nd time was turkey & pastrami on fresh sourdough roll (it was still warm) , add peppers and smoked cheddar, we'll worth the up charge! they gave me SO MUCH cheese and the pastrami is really good quality! read more

Scotty's is still a great neighborhood market, that offers a wide variety of everything you'd want, and things you would just like! Their prices are fair, the service is stellar and the deli is a highlight, much better than Safeway's down the road in my humble opinion. I have tried all their potato salads in depth () and have 3 favorites . . . not sharing which ones - yet! If you need basics, fine foods, great deli foods (and their olive selection is my favorite as well), wines, soft drinks and many great desserts - to name a few of my weaknesses, then give them a try. I originally wrote a negative review because the manager falsely accused a friend of shoplifting. it turned out to be a case of mistake and identity. My friend went in to prove his innocence, yet they shut him down and scapegoated him. Eventually, after we approached the manager and the owner with more concerns, they reviewed the camera footage and realized their mistake. I'm still upset at how they initially treated my friend and how they continued to ignore him after he went back to try to work this out with him. Eventually, my friend's persistence paid off. I hope that they will be more careful before jumping to conclusions in the future. I do appreciate that eventually we're open minded enough to apologize. read more

I have a special needs man that I have cared for who I'd bring in to Scotty's every week. They always greeted him by name and made him feel welcome. As he has aged up now, and doesn't get out as much it's been awhile, but we still talk about Scotty's, and I drive down and bring him treats back. Pricing seems generally reasonable and, in some cases, quite competitive, although some specialty foods, particularly outside bakery goods can be pretty pricey so, in order to avoid surprises at checkout, while you're searching for the most distant Use-By date, also best to check prices (particularly if there is no tag, or adjacent shelf label (that actually matches the item ;-)). read more

Scotty's is located in a small strip mall in Terra Linda. It is the only business that has survived here since I was a kid in the 60s (not including the post office). Back in the day, we used go here to get an ice cream after swimming at the Rec Center. I would call this a gourmet / boutique market. My favorite items include their house-made guacamole, Caesar salad, Chinese Chicken salad, their deli (the chicken salad), their house brand sourdough bread Dominic's... There are so many things. I may be biased because I grew up here, but it is good. If there wasn't enough to love about Scotty's... Every year Scotty's donates money to our local public schools. I will be back. read more

The sandwiches start around $7.00 and they are big enough to feed 2 people or a very hungry single person. They also have prepared food made fresh in the deli case. Macaroni salad, potato salad, coleslaw, pasta salads, etc. HOT FOOD Hot food such as Rottiserie Chicken, BBQ ribs, Fried Chicken, Mac & Chesse, Potatoes Au Gratin, etc. are in the deli section as well. Fresh fish such as salmon, ahi tuna, shrimp and other select fresh fish. It's a small section so check with them to see their specials of the day. What a lovely market! Stopped in with friends & kids on our way to a pool party in San Rafael. Such great sandwiches at the deli! This is the west coast equivalent of a Publix sub. Amazing value. $6.50- 7.50 for a full-sized sandwich. Turkey piled high, and no surplus charge to sub lettuce for alfalfa sprouts? I couldn't believe it. 10/10, highly recommend. Great neighborhood store with a fantastic deli and nice, helpful staff. Their sandwiches rival any deli nearby. Fresh breads, quality meats, and good fixin's. I love their fries, too, but the grill is often closed for some reason. If you go at lunch time (say, 11:30am-1:30pm), be prepared for a wait and make sure to grab a number at the deli counter. Or better yet, order online and pick up at the far end of the deli counter. Produce is pricey so I don't tend to shop there for all of my groceries but it's a good place to go for a few missing items on your shopping list. Just be careful about those bulk chocolates because before you know it, you're eating 1, 2, 3, 4, ah... I'll just finish these off! read more

Scotty's Deli is part of a solid local grocery and Terra Linda is better off for having it. The long and short of it is as follows: The sandwiches are generally excellent - particularly the turkey club and the Santa Fe. I frequently try* to grab a sandwich on the weekends when I can. *It's not uncommon to spend 15-20 minutes waiting for a sandwich - even with a short line. They are not exactly world renowned for speed, so it's important to be aware that it's not often an in-and-out experience (though the sandwich you take home is usually of good quality). They started taking online orders now, which takes usually ~ 30 minutes and may save you some time after factoring in your transit. There are two recommendations I would make to Scotty's to improve the menu/experience (outside of making it a slightly faster operation): First, there are few to no vegetarian sandwich options - outside of an avocado and cheese sandwich. It would be awesome if they could diversify their vegetarian menu. Second, nearly every time I've visited on the weekend their grill appears to be closed, which I have been frustrated by on numerous occasions. Overall, I'd recommend checking Scotty's out, but not when you're in too much of a rush (or too hungry/hangry!). read more
