Let me just preface this by saying I don't wish ill on anyone's business unless they have some sort of malintent, and while I don't have all the facts involved in my experience with Soctty's, I don't think he's a bad guy. That said, I won't be going back to Scotty's Tv N VCR. He had my tv for over month and failed to fix what he told me would take a week to resolve. September 30th, I call about dark spots on my tv, Scotty says he can fix it, and that it's likely a backlight issue. He quotes me $220 for a 75 inch Vizio. I call again on October 2nd, and ask if he'll drop by to pick the tv up as I had seen other Yelp comments mention he does home delivery. Scotty claims he's stopped doing home delivery in lieu of COVID. Cool, that makes sense to me. So I suggest I drop it off at his store. Scotty claims his store no longer exists due to COVID driving rent up so he now works out of his private home (red flag to me but the Yelp reviews were almost all good so I ignore it). He gives me the address and I drive over with my tv. When I get there, the price goes up by $50 to $270 (red flag #2). He tells me he has to order the replacement lamps and that would take 3 to 5 business days considering the manufacturers are based in Africa (to which I found odd, but not unheard of). He also adds the job is labor intensive so it would take a whole day to complete once the parts come in. We come to an agreement and he tells me I'll pay the day he finishes the work, but cash only since he would rather not pay a third party for electronic payments (red flag #3). I leave and wait for his call. 10 business days go by and no call from Scotty. I call him instead and he doesn't answer (voicemail is off this time as well). I call again the next day, same deal. A third attempt is made on the following day, but this time Scotty picks up. He claims the parts order from Ebay is stuck on pending so he needs to call the supplier then will call me back. About 20 minutes after our call, Scotty calls me back and lets me know the order is stuck and another order would have to be made to which Scotty suggests I try to order the parts (red flag #4). Shocked, I remind Scotty that I'm paying him to provide the service and I have no experience buying tv parts. He then states he'll place another order and advises me the order should be in by October 25th. October 25th comes and goes. No call from Scotty. I call to check in, no answer but his voicemail is on. I leave a polite message with all the pertinent information. I do this again everyday for three days. Day three and woman picks up, states Scotty is out and she tales a message. Scotty calls back on day four but I miss the call. He leaves a message claiming to have been sick, but lets me know the parts have arrived and are sitting in the garage. He will work on the tv Monday morning (two days from this moment). Monday comes and goes, no call from Scotty. I call on the 27th. Scotty picks up. He doesn't know who I am despite all the messages and phone calls. Fair, maybe I'm forgettable and he's busy. He claims however that the parts aren't in yet. I remind him that he claimed a few days prior that the parts were in. He then asks me what tv I was talking about (red flag #5) and when I tell him, he claims he got me confused with someone else when he told me that, stating "that tv is gone, I sent it out" (red flag #6 and #7). He suddenly seemed panicked and claimed he was with a customer and would have to call me back in a few minutes. 90 minutes go by, no call back. So I call. He picks up. I have to remind him who I am and what the situation is. He finally realizes that the parts are there and that he can work on it that day (November 3rd). I inform Scotty that I'm headed over to see the parts. He gives me the go-ahead so I head over. When I arrive, my tv is in the same condition I left it in one month prior. The replacement lamps are sitting inches away. I ask him if he as enough to fix my tv. He claims he isn't sure and that he'll have to open up the tv to see (red flag #8). I ask him when the parts arrived, he suddenly becomes hostile (red flag #9 and #10). He claims he's been busy with other customers, and isn't in control of shipping times. I tell him my issue is with his honesty and communication as well as his customer service at this point. I take my tv and over to buy the parts off him. He declines. I leave. read more

All I could say is great Customer Service unfortunately they were not able to help me with my cracked screen but gave me great advice on how to possibly get it repaired. I first found Scotty's through yelp. It's a home based business now (don't look for a big store front). I was at Brent's for a laser disc player yielding muffled sound and cassette player not working. Scotty let me know the part for the laser disc player was not fixable in 48 hours. Brent's took months. Plus Brent made me put 25 dollar deposit. Scotty none just only asked that payment be paid in cash. He gave me an estimate by phone to fix the cassette and in 48 hours my unit was ready for pick up. I was satisfied with the reasonable pricing and speed I gave Scotty's a vcr and a 8 mm rewinder. He was able to repair them both in 48 hours each. I then asked Scotty's whether they can fix my portable Dj mixer. At the same day I was there, he told me it was out of their field. I would never ever spend my money on a finicky samsung tv, but I got one as a gift. It stopped showing any sort of picture within a couple of months so I looked for the closest tv repair. Scotty's was right in the neighborhood and they came out for free to take a look. He wound up taking the tv back with him, quoted me a price, and stuck to it. A couple weeks later I had the same problem all over again, and he fixed it free of charge. I wouldn't get tv repair if you are in a hurry, as the work takes about two weeks each time. Best shopping experience ever. I went in to buy a VCR at the very last minute and Scotty was very welcoming. This VCR was for my moms birthday present . She has a few VHS tapes of our vacation times when we were younger . We called Scotty last minute and he said he'd wait for us despite it being a little late! Was looking around for a VCR, my mom wanted one for her birthday, and could not find one anywhere. The ones I could find were either 200+ dollars or being sold with a substantial price tag plus the shadiness of a stranger. Finding Scotty's shop was a Godsend. Broken LED TV ??? Scotty can fix it! Broken electronics, Flatscreen TV, VCR, DVD, or Monitors? Scotty can fix it. He also wont charge you to find out if he can fix it. Old school wise and honest. I could not be more satisfied. 50" flatscreen 3 years old, screen just went blank. LED was burnt $200 fixed in 2 days! If something electronic is broken (blenders,Amps, whatever) call Scotty, give a local guy your business instead of some huge corporation. My 2 year old Samsung picture went out. Scotty told me it's the power board. I left my tv with him. 4 days later no reply. I called and he seems a bit confused about diagnosis. He told me additionally the LED lights behind the screen are out and he's having problems locating the power board. After 1 week passes by. I phoned him again he seems frustrated finding the part, and tells me if I think I can find the part come pick up your tv. So I decided to give him more time to find the board. 3 days after he called and tells me he's having technical problems with China? Locating the part. I've has enough. I came and picked up my tv. Took it to another technician, who immediately showed me the LED lights are working fine and got me the power board and returned my tv working fine in 2 days. Scotty is the man! Though this didnt involve a television repair, in my opinion it was much more critical and delicate. The ECU on my 2008 BMW blew a transistor and the two options are, solder a new one in, or pay BMW 2100 dollars for a new one. Because my soldering skills are not skilled enough for a job like this, scotty confidently said he could do it no problem as long as i ordered the part for him. I delivered the ECU and part to him Saturday morning and begged for same day service since i needed my car back for Monday and he said he would do his best but he said he had some customers in front of me. He called me Sunday afternoon saying he found the bad transistor and soldered the new one in and charged me a really reasonable price for it. I gave him a nice tip for the great service and went home to re-install the ECU and the car started right up! Your a life (and wallet) saver Scotty! Our 55 inch TV stopped working ---- it would not turn on and beneath the screen, a message "lamp" flashed. We called Scotty and he said he would be over Saturday morning. Solid gold. He is a great-grandfather but appears much younger. I meant to ask him for his secret on how to appear youthful. He is extremely knowledgeable and replaced the lamp and voila', our TV worked again. When I first spoke with Scotty I got a good vibe cause of his accent (Scottish). I needed a lamp for my projection t.v. I got the replacement, installed it and had another issue. Scotty told me to bring it in. He waived the diagnostic fee since I had just bought the lamp. How nice is that!? Long story short, my circuit board blew and with it my new lamp :( As if waiving the fee wasn't nice enough he is selling me one of his T.V.s at a discount. A pretty big one at that. I have to say, when it comes to repairing anything, I'm pretty skeptical. Scotty and his staff are a blessing to me since I'm currently going through very difficult economic times. We had a tv that suddenly went black. We called Scotty and brought the tv to his shop. Scotty is fantastic! He checked the tv then explained in detail what the possible issues might be. We left the tv with him. He called the next day and explained what was wrong with the tv, and what it would cost to repair it. The tv was older so we opted not to make repairs. There was no charge and he could recycle the old tv for us. We can highly recommend Scotty if you need tv service. read more
