I don't understand what people are saying about the experiences and services. Five stars is really leaving me baffled. I called this shop, hoping that they'd be able to fix my Samsung that was a little over a year old. I spoke to Joe (I think) who was really knowledgeable and seemed confident in his assessment. It's a 55 inch, and I was pretty much sold on his recommendations -- that I brought it on by! I took it out of my car myself because it seemed that the gentleman (who only works there on Saturdays) was not able to assist. He seemed a little unorganized. I mean, well the shop seemed unorganized. I guess everyone has their own system. So anyway, I left my deposit, thinking that I was going to hear from them in a few days and nada, crickets. I called and spoke to someone -- he was kind of short with me. He said that it'd be a week before I heard anything. I was shocked and said, "but I was told it would be 72 hours". Later that day, I heard something back about the assessment of TV. When I tried to ask more about what was wrong with the TV, it seemed like my question was unreasonable. Shrugs. I just went ahead with the cheapest fix. It's good that the deposit (assessment fee) went towards the labor and such. All in all, tv is fixed but I just don't know how keen I am on the customer service of this place. Upon checking out, the man (I don't remember his name, but know it's not Brent because Brent passed away awhile ago -- as the man shared with me) needed my ID because there's be fraud and he's had to hunt the ma down, the legs of my TV weren't attached and for awhile, he couldn't find them. He had to call Joe to ask where they were. It took such a while to finalize the check out because they have a "system" that I moved the TV to my car .. again, by myself. My dad was stubborn about the living room TV and didn't want to get a new TV so he decided to take it into this place for service I told him whatever the issue was I bet by the time he gets and pays for the bill he probably could of gotten a new TV anyways he took it in on Tuesday the week of Thanksgiving and we picked it up a week later don't know if that was fast or slow service time for a TV. So all they did was place a small tiny part and it came out to 98 bucks so I guess my dad got off easy so to say for a 3 year plus Samsung TV. I own a 60" Sony flatscreen. No picture, no sound. My wife used Google and came up with Brent and their Yelp reviews. In the back of my mind I am thinking they were the guys I called a couple years ago when I had the same problem, so I give them a call. The following is the conversation. Me: I have a 60" TV with no picture or sound; the lamp light is lit thought. Them: What model is it, I need the model number. Me: Well, you were at my house a few years ago, so you should have all the information. Them: I threw away all my past records [recently]. Me: Oh, no records. That's nice, let me climb behind the TV and get a model number. **I get the model number and they eventually discover that they have the part in stock** Them: Can you remove the [some name] unit and bring it down? Me: Wait; what? You want me to take my TV apart for you? Them: Well, it is only four screws and [something I don't recall] Me: So, where is it located? Them: Well, you will have to use Google and maybe Youtube to find it. It is different places on different models. Me: Okay, I will find a repair shop. ************************************** It comes down to this, if I wanted to do a DIY television repair I would take a class at Devry. I think I understand why some of the reviews are 5-stars for excellent customer service and some are 1-star for rude customer service. It just depends on who you may be (un)lucky to get on the other side of the phone line. I called to schedule an appointment. I spoke with Joe who was very polite and explained the appointment confirmation process which consisted of a 9:30am phone call the day of the appointment. He also gave me the costs and reassured that the tech they would send out has decades of experience so he has no doubt they would at least be able to diagnose the problem. We set the appointment and he took information down for invoice purposes. Based on this call, I was expecting 5-star treatment and a fixed TV. On the day of the scheduled appointment, we never got the 9:30am call, so we reached out and spoke with a Robert. He very rudely told us we did not have an appointment, there is no availability today, they're very busy, and he doesn't know what happened, but Joe isn't in the office. As we tried to determine if there was alternate availability times, we hear Robert tell someone else, "Can you believe I have to deal w/ this?" so we tried to bring back his attention and he said, "Oh, you're still there?"... um, yeah, but not for long because then he hung-up on us. Giving him some benefit of the doubt, maybe he accidentally hung-up on us, I called back. He then put me on hold for more than five minutes. I was about to hang-up when he picked up the line and continued to speak to me as if I somehow did something wrong, as if it was my fault they had a mix-up with the appointment. I calmly explained to him the last conversation I had with Joe so that it was clear we set the appointment and I'm not crazy. All the while, Robert kept interrupting me telling me my invoice was in a "hold" file and not a "call" file. He lied, saying it was put on hold last week, when the initial call was just made yesterday. He then told me he could set an appointment for another day/time, at which point I simply said, "No, thank you, let's just cancel the order," and he replied, "Yeah, let's do that." ... seconds later, Robert called back to say they could accommodate the original appointment, but we declined. Why would we want to work with them after that experience? A Joe Sheppard (different than the Joe that took the appointment) then immediately called back to try to determine what happened. I explained and he got Joe-from-the-counter on the line who apologized for the mix-up. I felt bad for him, because he really was great over the phone when we initially made the appointment and the sincere apology is all it would have taken to reschedule. Mix-ups happen, but own up to them. Don't take it out on the customer... potential customer... no-longer-a-potential-customer. I want to give at least 2 stars to acknowledge Joe-from-the-counter. I should also commend Joe Sheppard's effort to try to make it right but, he can't take back the insulting attitude we received from Robert. In the end, I still have a broken TV and will need to go elsewhere to fix it. read more

My 47" TV broke a few weeks ago for some reason no picture was showing up it only had sound dropped off the TV here to have them look at it and diagnose it on a Monday they gave me a call a few days later letting me know what was wrong with it. They fixed it the same day I told them to go ahead and do the work it was ready for pick up the same day. They charged me $35 to diagnose the TV if you do the repairs through them they will credit the $35 towards the repair services. Did an awesome job and hopefully the TV keeps on working they also said it had a 4 month warranty through them for the repairs they did on my television. Hope this helps!!! read more

I purchased a 57" rear projection TV @2 years ago. I had a budget and wanted to buy the biggest TV my budget could get. So I ended up with a deeply discounted floor model. It has been a great TV. I knew, when I purchased it that I would have to replace the lamp. So the inevitable happened: the lamp when out. Now what do I do? I sure wasn't going to take it to back to Fry's where purchased it. I don't have a way to transport it. So I searched Yelp for TV Repair. There are not many shops left that do in-home TV repair. Brent's Service Center had 2 good reviews so I gave them a call. The fellow answering the phone gave me Joe's cell number. Joe let me know that he could come out the next day and gave me an estimate, if it was the lamp. The next morning they called to say that Joe will arrive between 10:00 and 10:30 am to repair my TV. What?!?!?!?!? A half hour window? I'm used to other "service" folks telling me I have to stay home the entire day and keep my fingers crossed that they may get to me. But Joe arrived @10:35 am. Love that service. He checked out the TV. Quickly replaced the lamp and was fine with me watching him. He took the time to explain what he was doing and telling me the tricks of replacing a lamp in case I wanted to do it next time. After he finished we chatted about our Thanksgiving holiday. Let me first say that I had purchased one of the first 65" HD TV sets and the display started to malfunction after several years of reliable use. Since these sets are not easily movable I had to call in a service tech. I am skeptical about any home service on repairs, but I must say that I was surprised how professional and courteous Joe was. For those who want to know what is going on, Joe walked me though step by step on what he was doing. Gave me options and clearly explained what minimal things can be done to keep the TV running or a full service to extend the life another several years. I decided on the latter and was very pleased with the outcome. Joe professionally adjusted and calibrated the image for colors, brightness, contrast and alignment. It is rare to see someone like Joe with 30 years experience out in the field today. Although the repair was a bit on the expensive side, it was worth every penny. Have a Samung 50" plasma getting lots of red & green snow in the picture. Had an authorized repair service provider come out that I found through Samsung's website, and they barely looked at my TV before annoucing it would cost around $600 to fix because they need a new board. They charged me $130 for the pleasure and I said forget it. Snow got worse, so I figured I would try a local service center and thank God I did. Called Brent TV, and Joe came by the next day to take a look. He was very professional and upfront as he laid out everything that he thought it was and what it would cost. I wish I could give no stars... Worst customer service & turnaround time ever. Joe is SCAM ARTIST & probably the most incompetent repairman & business owner in the South Bay. It's a shame that his employees have to deal with the negative results of his incompetence. Dropped 6 TVs off for repair 4.5 months ago, 2 were fixed, 1 was was unfixable & the other 3 have sat, untouched. I called multiple times for updates throughout the 4.5 months & was always told a sob story about how they lost a technician. That excuse would be great except I'm sure repairs had been done to TVs that came in after mine were dropped off...so why were mine put on the back burner for over 1/4 of a year?!? When Incompetent Joe finally did get around to looking at them, I was told that it'd be another 2 weeks to which I proposed that to make up for the completely unacceptable 4.5 month wait, they refund the estimate fee of $35/TV. Joe refused my offer so I told them not to touch any of the TVs & I would be there in the coming days to pick up the broken TVs & take them to another repair man as I refuse to give Joe or his business another red cent. Well, Joe took it upon himself to fix a TV without approval & called to tell me that he'd be applying $100 he owes me from parts I bought that couldn't be used for those unapproved repair costs...and after making me wait 4.5 months for him to do nothing & scamming me out of $100, Joe had the nerve to call & scream at me over the phone like this was all my fault. I'm taking all my & my company's future business to: Del's TV & VCR Services 3328 E Anaheim St. Long Beach, CA 90804 ...I encourage anyone reading this & thinking of giving this scam artist any business to save yourself the trouble & do the same. I was lucky enough to get Joe as my service tech for my 80" Vizio TV. Their $35 diagnostic fee was very reasonable considering they made a house call (since the TV was so big). Joe was on time, courteous and very professional. He spent about 30 minutes diagnosing my TV and explained everything to me in detail. He told me it would take him a few days to either fix or replace the part that was malfunctioning. And as promised he called back about a week later to schedule an installation for the repaired part. He returned at the promised time and quickly fixed my TV. So far it is working great! I will definitely be calling Joe if I ever need help with my TV again. read more

I just can't see these guys getting anything done . The shop is an absolute disaster, only thing missing is 17 cats. These guys are clueless and have no people or service skills. I dropped my 65" LED Samsung off and they said 3 weeks for a diagnosis and price for repair. 4 - 5 weeks later I called and asked about progress. Nothing had been done and was told "he's working on it" and I'd be called back on Friday. And then it was "if you don't hear back from me by Friday call me Monday". This went on for several months with the same messages they left. I felt something was off in the beginning so I recorded all my incounters with them in the shop and on the phone including keeping all of they're messages on my voicemail for reference. It was amazing how I was told the same line everytime I either spoke to or was left a message about "leaving a note on the technician's desk" to find out what's going on. Long story short...5 months later the LEDs had arrived and my TV was repaired. Went down, paid over 300 (with a discount because lots of time had past) and I went home. I had bought another television while waiting (of course) so didn't mount it for a little while. This was all long before Covid 19 so excuses there but finally mounted it and it has the same problem going in and out. It wasn't repaired properly and I'm of course done with this place. Go elsewhere or maybe you can just drop off your old electronics. The more crap the better at Brent's! read more

Good service at reasonable prices. Called on a Tuesday, first available appointment was that Thursday. Joe, the business owner, showed up, I helped him take my 50 inch plasma off its wall mount, lay it down then watched as he took about 20 minutes to unscrew the backing and diagnose the problem (broken capacitors). he took maybe another 30 minutes to replace the capacitors, put the tv back together, then re-mount the plasma. Yup I got the bad one... So if you scroll down you will see everyone who has a 4+ review had a chance to work with Joe. Anyone who had one star... Well that would be Robert. I was unlucky enough to get Robert. I got this huge 65" TV from my friend for free... It is 3-5 thousand dollars everywhere on line so I though "dang! I will fix it right up and make a ton"! I popped the back open and found the problem wasn't what the manual had stated. I then took it to Brent's place. I spoke with Robert, we went back and forth and then I mentioned I had a kid. He then started to tell me about his daughter dating "a black" and how he was so upset and all this. Needless to say I was shocked. I couldn't understand why anyone would say this to a stranger. I just wanted to leave. I had already paid the 35$ fee for an estimate... Or diagnostic..? (You'll understand the confusion later). So 6 days later I get a call from the Tech who had been working on my TV. Very nice guy. I think he said his name was Joe. He seemed to know what he was talking about. He told me they had to send the part that was bad somewhere and get it fixed and then they would have to get it back and put it in. The place that would fix it would charge 260 and he said he would charge 140 (to put a part in)... crazy pricing! I assume while googling it they saw how expensive this TV was and tried to take me for a fool.. Maybe not.. So I told him let me have a bit to think about it. That is a high price. So I took a couple of days and I thought I wonder what the problem was... I actually went on ebay and found almost every part for the TV there each under 50$. So I called in and again spoke with Robert. I asked if I could talk to the tech. He said "No". He goes on and on and on and on... About nothing that really makes any sense. He's talking about his job and how Toshiba sold to the "bad guys" and that is why he doesn't like them. He tried to explain that they need to send the part off to get it fixed. So I said "well do you have a part number, maybe I can look it up" he says "no we will not give you a part number" then continues to say "We have looked everywhere for this part and cannot find it. we have to ship it out and get it fixed" So I am thinking well if you can't find it what is the harm in giving it to me. As i started to say that BOOM interrupted. I was getting more and more angry by the second. Robert says "the tech is right next to me and he says we have to ship it out" I say "Can I talk to him? he is right there" His reply "No". So I say "why not" and he doesn't ever give an actual answer. So after he spat whatever crap he could come up with in my ear I said "what was the 35$ ffffff" BOOM interrupted (the 35$ that I was told was a diagnostic fee... which means they should hand me a paper that says this is exactly what is wrong with your tv... Which means they should be give me the part number!! Ahhhhh... odd how that works right?) . He starts talking louder "You need to pay 100$ deposit today" I said I just want to talk to the tech he is right next to you. he says I cant talk to him on the phone that I would have to come in. This phone call sucked!!! He starts to tell me " Look, I am not a tech, I don't really know about TVs" So having the perfect words I said "If you don't know anything... Why don't you let me...... talk to the tech... who actually... does know something!" His response.. Again was no. Then told me I need to pay 100$ I said look Ill pay it right now if you let me talk to the tech. He again said no. So I said ok then I will not give you my business. Told them to put my tv back together and hung up. Later I called again to make sure I could pick it up tomorrow. What is this?! A new voice was on the phone. Oh thank god!!! It was Joe! not the tech Joe but a second Joe! I told him what happened and he was very apologetic. HE IS A NICE GUY!!! I recommend to the owner that he puts Joe on full time because I almost told Joe that if he handled my TV and not Robert that I will pay for the fix, but I only want him on my case. The only reason I didn't was because when I went in to pick it up Robert was still there... I guess just talking to co workers. If you got this far I applaud you! Moral of my story: Call after 1pm. They misdiagnosed my TVs problem. I payed 130 or something like that. Then I had to take it back. It took them more then a month to call back and tell me the issue with my TV, and told me it would be an additional 200. I told them to just fix it. A month and a half later they hadn't even touched it. Always gave me excuses and when I'd call they would say someone will have to call me back. Nobody ever did. It happened at least 4 times. Our 5-yr old large screen plasma TV was acting up and we thought we were going to have to buy a new one. Before we went shopping, I read Yelp reviews about Brent Service and gave them a call. I spoke to Joe and he told me that it was probably cost effective to repair the TV. Made an appt and within 5 minutes, Joe had diagnosed and showed me the problems (bad capacitors).
