Was excited to try this coffee shop during our annual sisters trip to Paso Robles. The line was long, but we completely understood since there were only two employees working and a large crowd. We were patient and happy to wait. Unfortunately, as we got closer, it became clear how unprofessional the owner was. Earlier, he had asked everyone to be patient, which we were. About 20 minutes later, he repeated it again, and I nodded and said, "Thank you." He responded with, "I already told you -- now I'm telling everyone else," with a rude tone and facial expression. Completely unnecessary. Can't believe we continued to wait, I finally got my cappuccino, which was mediocre at best -- I've definitely had much better. What really stood out though, was how the owner treated customers. A woman behind me, who seemed to be a regular, politely mentioned she had an idea to help with line control. He immediately snapped at her, saying he couldn't talk right now. Even after she calmly said "later," he continued ranting about how busy he was and how he couldn't talk to her. Busy mornings happen, especially for small businesses, but customer service and professionalism still matter. The owner would benefit from learning how to manage large crowds with the same patience he expects from his customers, rather than taking his stress out on the people supporting his business. I asked for a recommendation and he rudely respond with just pick something I don't have time to help you like that. He had a horrible attitude and I was taken back. This place was a little shack but it offered great coffee! Our only complaint was there was only one guy manning it inside and he was clearly overwhelmed and overworked. He kept apologizing over and over and we felt bad for him. The wait was about 15 min but the coffee was great. read more

Slow Rush was incredible. Nick, the owner, greeted us when we walked in and took the time to tell us about the specials, which immediately made the place feel welcoming and intentional. He has so many matcha flavor options, including rose, which I ordered and the color was this deep, rich green that you almost never see. You can tell they're doing it the right way here. What stood out even more was his philosophy. He mentioned that he doesn't charge extra for toppings because people shouldn't have to pay more for someone to simply do their job. And he doesn't charge extra for almond milk either.. what!? Unheard of! Between the quality, the care, and the integrity behind how he runs the shop, this place is something special. The business owner was extremely rude for no reason when I was offering a coffee. I had asked the waiter if their flavored coffees were on the sweeter side and in the middle of his response, the owner cut him off and said "how are we supposed to measure sweet? That's subjective. That's not a good question. How am I supposed to answer that question. Give me a good way to measure that objectively." So I responded that I was just trying to figure out if they were super sweet and that maybe he could use grams of sugar as a measure cause other coffee shops do that. And then he continued being smart with me and asked how is he supposed to measure sugar in syrup that he can't do that math for me. I honestly don't know why he had to respond like that. I want to support local business but to the point where the owner has the be smart like this with his customers seems absolutely unnecessary. He also picked a fight with the people who were in front of me. They mentioned to me that he wouldn't let them put in a group order. It made it easy to drive up and get a cup of coffee or walk up and go for a stroll around the downtown area. The staff were incredibly nice, caring and friendly. My latte was good, but not great. It was not very espresso forward. It wasn't terrible but the syrups were too overpowering and needed refinement. read more

Cute drive thru and walk up coffee stand. One Superman in there doing all the work of 10 baristas so it was a little bit of a wait but he said usually it's not as slow. I guess just everyone and their grandmas was there when I was there. After getting my coffee and scone I can see why though. I got an iced PB&J with oat milk. Idk that it necessarily tasted like a childhood classic sandwich but it's just a super good latte in general with great coffee so I ain't mad at it. I also got the craisin scone and GIRLLL she was absolutely to die for! Little crystallized sugar pieces just glistening in the sun looking like Edward in the light. And she a straight killer of a scone . Very soft, squishy craisins and orange zest you can see when you bite into it. Overall 10/10 and I most deff will be back for seconds, thirds and fourths when I'm back in town. read more

We wanted to stop by and grab some coffee on our road trip going back home to socal and saw online that this place had a black sesame hojicha. The other drinks looked promising as well so we were eager to try this place! Upon arriving, we realized it was a cute little stall in a parking lot, with even a drive thru! The owner does everything by himself so it did take him some time to get to us but it was completely understandable and he was very apologetic. Unfortunately, he ran out of the black sesame to make the drink that we wanted and instead suggested black sugar. He was also super apologetic for that as well! I opted to get a cold brew with coconut. The coconut flavoring is a purée which is much better than the artificial syrups most places use. My drink was a little tart/sour so I asked for a splash of coconut milk in my coffee and it was perfect! The owner really makes sure you like your drink before you leave. And he doesn't make you feel bothersome for asking for any changes (a very special talent because I always feel like I impose) There are also a few benches and tables you can sit at and enjoy your drink. The stall is decorated with a bunch of cute memorabilia and frog motifs!! The small shop is a one man show, and the owner was so sweet despite being busy with orders! It's clear he has a passion for drink making and has carefully crafted his entire menu. He was also so kind and made sure we were satisfied with our drinks. My friend was able to add more coconut milk to her cold brew after trying it. I would definitely come back if I was in the area! I tried the yuzu mango yerba mate, which was so refreshing and flavorful, exactly what I was looking for. It already comes with about 70mg of caffeine, but the owner also has an option to add extra caffeine to it if you need an extra boost. read more

Great service from the frogman barista! He made great suggestions when he ran out of what we wanted and it still came out pretty close. The quirky frogs memorabilia had us wanting to come back again but the place closes down at 2pm. Great coffee and he won't even charge for the milk substitute, that's awesome and that's customer premiere service. Although this is a drive through shack, there are available tables and seating if you wish to get out of the car to stretch out in between long drives and grab your cup of joe and latte delight. Awesome spot to grab a quick coffee! The owner is super engaging and friendly. He is super respectful of people's time and works quickly and efficiently to make certain your order is perfect. I got a cappuccino and an americano (they don't have drip but the owner was quick to offer up a suggestion as to where to go to get a great drip coffee) and they were both just right. I just got the yuzu mango green tea with half sweetness because I needed something to pick me up during a road trip. The yuzu tasted very fresh and the green tea was perfectly brewed. The Skinny: A Must-Stop for Vietnamese Coffee Lovers! I originally tried to visit Nick and the Slow Rush Coffee kiosk at the middle of our northbound road trip on Easter Sunday, totally forgetting that some businesses might be closed for the holiday--oops! But no worries, because on our way back down, I made it a point to swing by Paso Robles again just for this spot--and I'm SO glad I did! Of our 7 day road trip, I haven't written any reviews for any businesses yet and this one is the first one because I need to write it before I forget! Note this is a KIOSK and not a full-on Starbucks, but it has an amazing charm with cool seating if you really wanted to stick around. Coming from Orange County, where the Vietnamese coffee scene is strong (especially in the Little Saigon area), I love checking out Vietnamese coffee spots in other towns to see how they stack up. Slow Rush was the first place that popped up when I searched for Vietnamese coffee in Paso Robles--and now I know why. This place is LEGIT. Out of all my stops, Slow Rush easily gives OC Vietnamese coffee a run for its money. It's hands down the best-tasting Vietnamese coffee I've had outside of my hometown! And then there's Nick--what a gem. Super friendly, upbeat, and clearly passionate about his craft. Even though I walked up to the kiosk while the drive-thru line was packed, he still made time to greet me with a smile and even apologized for the short wait (which wasn't his fault at all!). if y'all ever hear that i moved to paso robles it's literally for slow rush (and its fearless leader, the ever iconic nick.) slow rush is the best thing since lorde hopped on sympathy is a knife. my group basically sampled everything on the menu (blueberry matcha, black sugar hojicha, and turtle mocha) and they all hit the respective spots of people who ordered them. nick effectively personalizes every drink during the ordering process, and his vibe checking is immaculate. i'm not sure how he got to know us so well in the ~5 minutes we were there. also, we weren't charged extra for oat milk, which we were SO SO GRATEFUL FOR. all hot girls have tummy issues with regular milk, amiright ?? ofc, i have issues with more than just regular milk (the anaphylaxis of it all), and nick assured me that all of the equipment would be washed before he made my drink. the absolute SQUEAL i SQUEALT !! the great people of paso robles probably filed a noise complaint. i can't put into words how excited we were just vibing with nick as he told us all of the great things he was doing in the local-art-and-frog-adorned kiosk of his, but i can put it into actions! our fourth friend had already been drinking another latte from somewhere else (nick said that place is good too bc he's just a good sport like that). after sampling the other three slow rush drinks, she decided to chug her current latte and order a drink from nick too. her yuzu mango green tea came out so quickly and tasted like it was condensed and rained down from the clouds of heaven. here's to the epic success of slow rush :) ps - one side is a drive thru read more

I came to Slow Rush twice while staying in Paso Robles and it was such a good spot! It's a little kiosk where you can walk up and order or drive thru. There are plenty of tables to sit and enjoy your coffee and pastry. The barista was super sweet and gave us our drinks pretty quick considering it was only him. We ordered the Vietnamese coffee, iced chai latte with oat milk, iced rose matcha latte with oat milk and an americano. Alternative milk was not an extra charge which was greatly appreciated. The Vietnamese coffee was so good easily a 9/10 as well as the chai latte and matcha latte. My mom loved her americano. If we're ever back in Paso Robles we'll definitely be coming back to Slow Rush! read more

I really like trying coffee shops while traveling and was pleasantly surprised by the gentleman working at the time. I came mid rush and he was still super bubbly and very kind. Even though I came mid rush I got my drinks within only a minute or two. He made the best Mexican mocha I've ever had, and I'd also recommend the caramel banana nut mocha which has real banana puree. At the time the alternative milk options were free of charge. Option to drive through or sit in their nice seating area. read more
