I thought that trying screaming tuna was a splurge compared to my normal go to spot. The flavors sounded very interesting and unique. I feel catfished. I'll share the picture advertised on their DoorDash account, versus what I received. They don't even look remotely alike. And I get it, it's art right?! The location is perfect right along the river with floor to ceiling windows & a perfect view of the sunset. The restaurant is super cute inside with nice decor & lots of great drink options. Their menu is full of different types of sushi & sashimi. They luckily have GF labels on their menu & have GF soy sauce for my husband. The sushi is good but not great. The fish isn't the most fresh that I've had in Milwaukee & I don't think it's the most flavorful. Our waitress was so sweet & we had really good service with her. August 2025: I went to Screaming Tuna on a Monday evening in August with two other girls. We were seated outside right away with no reservation and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The view from our table was a beautiful cityscape on the water! We first ordered drinks, which we enjoyed. I had the Flirt Juice- it was refreshing and perfect for a summer night! Fruity and flavorful. For an appetizer, we shared the fresh veggie spring rolls. The spring rolls were good but we didn't care for the sauce they were served with. I typically like the sauce a little sweeter. I also ordered the seaweed salad, that was good. For dinner, we each ordered two rolls. I ordered the Rising Sun roll and the Shrimp Tempura. I thought both of my rolls were okay- somewhat bland and fishy tasting. My two friends also said their rolls were fishy and they didn't finish theirs. Our bill for the three of us came out to $160 before tip. Overall, great service and a beautiful summer night view, but not-so-great sushi and an expensive bill for what we ordered (my opinion). read more

I really enjoyed visiting screaming tuna for my birthday this year. I started by ordering a lychee martini-- very good. The sushi rolls were a consistent size, rolled correctly, and the ratios were very balanced. The sashimi was decent--not the best I've had, but pretty good. I thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers we ordered. We ordered the tuna crispy rice, the crab chipotle wontons, the beef spring rolls, and the gyoza. All very tasty. The miso soup was nice as well. I will say, I was offered two mochi for my birthday-- the green tea flavor was nice. The red bean flavor was crumbly and inedible. I actually spit it out. For Midwest sushi the food was good it just wasn't a memorable meal like we were hoping. I did enjoy that there were a handful of rolls with different fruits and the size of the sushi was perfect where you could actually eat it in one bite without it being too much. This place was a lot of fun. It is right next to the water so the views are pretty cool from any spot within the restaurant. We got there right before the dinner rush on a Saturday evening and we're able to sit at the bar where we met Lizzie who was an amazing bartender. I had their alchemist sour which was a whiskey based drink, and my girlfriend had the pine after the hunt which was a tequila based drink. We got the edamame to start with the chili garlic on it and it had good flavor and a nice kick to it. Then we ordered the sushi for two. Our favorite nigiri's were the salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. I'm a fan of the atmosphere. A great place to host dinners. We ordered some Vietnamese spring rolls and sushi, but unfortunately they were not up to par, especially with the price. The spring rolls were good, they packed it real good in there. The rice in the sushi was almost too soft for it, it had a slight foul smell. I decided to grab a high table by the garage door, close to the bar. The menu had a huge selection of sushi. I ordered their special "screaming tuna roll" and a black pepper tuna roll. The rolls were huge! I am not a fan of two-bite sushi. I can honestly say that this is your typical Americanized sushi roll, the type that doesn't taste as good as it looks. Seriously amazing dinner! Screaming tuna is one of my favorite restaurants in Milwaukee and never let me down. Me and my friend split the spicy garlic edamame (not pictured) and it is one of my favorite appetizers! Super fresh and has the perfect kick! I opted for the Kennedy cocktail and it was delicious! Strawberry puree, ginger beer, lime and basil. So simple but so refreshing. My usual sushi order is a spicy tuna but decided to be adventurous and go for the spicy rock crab and holy crap- new favorite roll! If going on a Friday or Saturday afternoon/night, definitely recommend a reservation, otherwise most of the time they are pretty accommodating! We try to sit outside when possible for great views of the Milwaukee skyline and river-watching. Our usual is miso soup, a couple rolls of sushi, and a cocktail or two. This last visit we enjoyed a bottle of wine instead of the cocktails. The miso soup doesn't have a whole lot of miso flavor in comparison to other area restaurants, but still good and filled with lots of wakame and mushrooms. The appetizers were amazing and the only food we enjoyed. We ordered the Crab Chipotle Wontons which had awesome flavor. The only thing is they were not hot. If I said lukewarm that would even be generous. My favorite app was the Crispy Spicy Tuna. The sweet chili sauce was tasty but very strong and overpowering of any other flavor. I would order both apps again, if I ever return. Now to the sushi... just so disappointing. The salmon nigiri did not taste fresh at all. Would not recommend. The Screaming Tuna Signature roll was ok but a little on the fishy side. But on to the weirdest roll of my life... the Lava Monster. Absolutely horrible. The only taste was smoke. We went on a Saturday night during peak dinnertime so we called in advance for a reservation but there was a good amount of seating available regardless. Service was great, the hostess was kind and our waiter was attentive. Drinks were okay, not anything I would want to order again. The Usagi-Rita tasted like spicy carrot juice and the Lychee Princess had the aftertaste of cough syrup. The sushi was okay, the primary highlight being the Uni. Everything was at the same quality level of any other AYCE sushi place, which is disappointing considering the meal ran about $100 total before tip. The appetizers were also average. The Wontons only tasted of cream cheese and the Crispy Tuna was drowned in the sweet chili sauce. The only highlight for the apps was the crispy rice under the tuna. My Gyoza, while not authentic, were delicious. The Screaming Tuna signature roll was quite tasty. Other items on the menu were hit and miss. We sat at the bar, and TJ took great care of us. He's quite entrepreneurial and is intent on making his patrons happy. With its setting on the river, that outdoor patio must be hopping in warm weather. We walked over on a very chilly May evening.
