We had a large group of 7 people and had a reservation to celebrate a graduation. The main thing that brings the rating down is the service. We were seated pretty quickly and our main waitress was overall ok though she did need to be reminded to take empty plates away. However when we had requested water from two front of house staff that walked by, they deliberately walked by us and ignored us despite my mom turning in her seat and speaking directly to them. Additionally, they had seated us in a dark corner despite there being multiple tables with water views available (our reservation was pretty close to opening so many tables were open). For our big party they automatically added 20% tip and charge a 3% credit card fee. It was surprising to see in a "nicer" place. The sushi was below average. The rice was mushy and rolls generally would fall apart when picked up. There was a good amount of food for the price, so that part was a redeeming factor. This is my first time here. I'm actually upset that I'm giving them 3 stars. The ambiance was nice. The service was good and attentive, but the cook was a bit heavy handed on the salt. When I got my miso soup it was salty and the liquid was more like a heavy broth, I didn't finish it and that was upsetting as that sets the tone. The edamame, was also very salty and I could not enjoy it; I usually enjoy by biting the pod and squeezing out the peas, but it was so salty and gritty that I had to squeeze by hand and kept wiping the salt off with the napkin. Best Everything! We had reservations for six on a Sunday night with four of us celebrating birthdays that week! We were expecting a great night and we got it! We arrived separately from three different cities and started with great cocktails and shots in the bar while our group arrived. We were then given a large table that had ample room for us to stack the gifts nearby ( sometimes a problem in other restaurants). We each ordered our favorites from the appetizers and later the list of sushi and then shared from the truly beautiful array of food set before us. It was wonderful and the atmosphere was festive. The service was exceptional throughout! This is one of those rare restaurants where you feel that the employees really enjoy their jobs and they want to be there. (Rare in US; not as rare in Europe.) This feeling elevates everything at the Screaming Tuna. We will be making this a regular stop when we come to Milwaukee. read more

Was in town for a show, and the reviews about this place were right, it was so good! We started with the Crab Chipotle Wontons - got the sauce on the side because I usually don't care for plum sauce. But the plum sauce actually complimented the heat/kick from the chipotle notes of the crab wontons - it really balanced it well. Then we got 3 rolls to share - Lava Monster, Screaming Tuna Signature and Sold Out roll. The Lava monster roll is great if you like octopus, the screaming tuna signature was my favorite of the three, and the sold out roll was like an elevated Philadelphia roll which was delicious as well. Ended the meal with their only dessert, tempura fried ice cream. It was like ice cream sandwiched in some type of bread, tempura battered and flash fried. They did have another flavor ice cream besides vanilla, just don't remember off the top of my head. But if I'm ever around the area again, I'll definitely be back! read more

Although we had booked a private dojo room for the occasion, when we arrived for our reservation, we were told that it was still being occupied by the previous party, and that there was nothing they could do to expedite the other party's departure. This definitely would have been a much bigger deal, but luckily for them, it was a beautiful night so we opted to sit outdoors near the river, and take in the views. Service was slow, and again, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as it was a busy night. The drinks were good, and the sushi was delicious. They had a variety of options, as well as a number of vegetarian friendly roles. They took into account everyone's dietary restrictions, which was a great plus. I've been to Screaming Tuna multiple times over the past couple of months and I'm never disappointed. I've gone as a couple and with a group of girls and the staff is always accommodating and quick. I called ahead for a "divorce dinner" reservation and they put us in a private room which was really cute. As a major sushi aficionado, it is my mission to check out as many sushi restaurants as possible. I have been to Screaming Tuna twice now, and have had an amazing experience both times. The restaurant is spacious and has a modern look. The staff is very nice and welcoming, and the sushi quality is top notch. In addition, they are dedicated to using seafood that is sustainably sourced. Screaming Tuna is best known for their sushi, but they also offer Japanese fusion, gluten free and vegetarian options as well. They have specials throughout the week, including lunch from 11:00am-2:30pm during the week, and a bottomless mimosa brunch on the weekends from 10:30am-4:00pm. On my most recent trip here, I brought two friends with me. They had never been to Screaming Tuna before, and were excited to check it out. It was a Tuesday night, which means it's Sake Tuesday. We all opted to try the $6 hot sake. It was the perfect beverage to have on a cold, snowy night. When it comes to the sushi, there is a lot to choose from. There's the traditional nigiri & sashimi and maki/rolls. And then there's the specialty rolls and signature nigiri. I chose 4 of the rolls for my meal: the Kanpachi Maki (Hawaiian yellowtail), Wasabi Tuna, eel & avocado, and the Philly. Every last bite was amazing. If you are going to order any of the specialty rolls, keep in mind that they are larger than the traditional maki/rolls. You will definitely fill up faster on these. The only thing that I wish was better about this place is the parking. There are not very many parking spaces by the restaurant. So you may have park further away and walk a bit. However, that will not deter me from making future trips to Screaming Tuna. read more

Sushi is mid at best. Server corrected my order and assured me that raw fish by itself is nigiri not sashimi, so instead of argue I let him order the wrong food. Order comes and of course it's nigiri, raw fish on a ball of rice. When I explain that I wanted sashimi he looked at me like I was crazy and inconveniencing him to correct the order, which they just took the fish off the nigiri and re-plated. Chef's cut nigiri and sashimi differently so basically got ripped off. The rolls we ordered were ok. If you want to pay for the downtown allure just to get ok sushi then this is your spot. The view was amazing! You are right on the water with a view of the yachts and boats. It was easy to find the restaurant and there was ample parking. My waitress recommended some delicious sushi rolls and a drink menu. I wanted my traditional ameretton sour, but they were out of amaretto. The food was awesome! You can dip it in wasabi, but you don't need to. I normally like cooked sushi, but this was great. I had the signature roll and a shrimp tempura roll.
