We visited Zx Sushi right at their grand opening and were impressed! They offer an All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) menu that covers everything from appetizers to sushi and desserts. For starters, the shrimp tempura was good, but the fried oysters completely stole the show. They nailed that perfect contrast of a crunchy exterior and a soft, flavorful center, we're still craving them today! As for the sushi, the Color Dragon and Spicy Tuna rolls were incredibly fresh and delicious. We finished with the ube cake roll; while the flavor was lovely, it was a bit on the dry side. I went during their promo period when they had a 25% off deal for their AYCE prices. This has to be the 3rd or 4th AYCE sushi place to pop up in the last 4 years and I love my AYCE sushi so I do try to get around and try all of them! ZX's unique quality from other AYCEs are that they offer ramen and rice bowls in addition to the commonly seen apps and sushi options. Ordering is through an iPad which I love and the restaurant overall is pretty big. Pros: ramen/rice bowls are solid, apps are good Cons: street parking can be difficult, sushi quality is very average, service was pretty slow (could be due to the promotion/being packed) Most likely I wouldn't come back here since it is a little more expensive and the quality isn't as great as other places I've tried. I will say the only dishes I really liked were the rice / ramen dishes but who goes to AYCE to eat those :( read more

Overall, it was ok. Our waitress seemed irritated. We called ahead and they recommended a reservation, when we showed up we were the only people there. It was 4:45 granted, but still felt odd. Then, we started to order. The food quality was ok. The sushi creations were not very exciting though. We ate our money's worth for sure. We had a few rounds of mussels which we didn't take a picture of but were well prepared. We ate everything but the shrimp tails, our favorite was definitely the "Crouching Tiger" with its delicious cream cheese. We weren't a big fan of the spicy Nigiri (tuna or salmon). Food came out quick and I liked how we got to order via iPad. At the end when it came to pay I felt forced to leave a tip (I couldn't find a way to modify the tip despite the server literally not engaging with us despite dropping off the food). We didn't even get a soy sauce bowls. At first I thought maybe it was their thing but looking at the rest of the tables that came in after, we were singled out. The restaurant is split into two. There's a gorgeous deck looking out on the street area, the other area is dark and by the kitchen. Saturday night impromptu dinner and decided to try something new. I was greeted by the sweetest hostess (Iliana) and was sat/greeted right away by my server (Izzy) they were very helpful with the menu and preferred choices. They have AYCE sushi for $35 and 1/2 price alcohol drinks *at least for that time frame* The food came out very fast, the staff helped each other with running so nothing was a long wait. Went to ZX Sushi during dinner time and it was a STRUGGLE to find parking. I definitely recommend parking in the car parks near by as the lots in the area were really expensive and street parking was also impossible to find. The interior was very simple but eye-catching! The neon sign in the middle of the restaurant was a vibe. There were alot of windows seating, so it was nice people watching here and there, while eating. Once my friend and I were seated, we were given an iPad to select our items. They had a wide range of options from AYCE appetizers, Nigiri/sashmi, signature rolls, vegetable rolls, and regular rolls, ramen, entrees, and desserts. You are also able to select drinks and different entrees but they aren't included in the AYCE menu. My friend and I started with a few appetizers; takoyaki, shumai, fried oysters, and baked mussels. All of the appetizers were amazing but the baked mussel was so good! We kept ordering more, there was a sweetness that made it so addicting. The signature rolls were good! Similar to other places that I've had these rolls from. The Nigiri was pretty good! There wasn't an insane amount of rice packed into each piece, which made the bits feel light. Our server and the staff were all very nice and attentive! They checked up on us often and was always fun to talk with! My only downside to my experience, was that they kept taking our iPad to use at different tables, which made it a little inconvenient to order more food. I really wanted to love this place because the restaurant itself is beautiful, in a great location, and the food was genuinely fantastic - but the service completely ruined the experience. I'll start with the food - we loved it. The sushi was beautifully presented and tasted fresh. The chefs definitely knocked that out the park. However, we were essentially forgotten for most of the night. While ordering food on tablets was convenient, you can't order alcoholic drinks that way, which meant trying to flag down a server... and that was nearly impossible. It took a lot of effort just to get someone's attention for basic things like ordering alcohol or even getting extra napkins. We would have ordered more drinks, but we were only able to get attention for one drink order. Our table was never checked on. Plates piled up to the point where we were stacking them at the edge of the table hoping someone would clear them and no one did. The stacked plates sat there for over an hour after we had finished eating. Halfway through our meal, they took our tablets away (there seemed to be a tablet shortage - I think ours was given to another table) so we couldn't even order more food, which defeats the point of an all you can eat style restaurant. I also brought my 1.5-year-old son and packed his own food and drinks. Despite that, I was charged $15.99 for a "kids meal" without anyone informing me or asking. That was incredibly frustrating, but it was ultimately taken off the bill. The thing that sealed it for me was that I had to ask four separate times just to get the check, I was blown away that in our 2.5 hours there - an hour was mainly waiting to be noticed - that there wasn't any attention thrown our way. I understand this is a newer restaurant and there are always growing pains, and I truly tried to be patient, but this level of service was really disappointing. It's a shame, because the food and atmosphere have so much potential. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we won't be back. Tried out XZ sushi with friends for lunch. The place is very spacious and staff was so kind and attentive during our visit. We went with the All you can eat menu, which includes sushi rolls, Ramen, appetizers, and other items which you order off of an iPad and they are brought to your table. A really great deal for the price! We tried a wide variety of dishes between the four of us. Some of my favorites included the crab rangoons, gyozas, and ramen. Came for opening weekend and the wait was just too long (hopefully was a good sign that it was so popular!). Came back a few days late and was able to get seated straight away. The ordering process is a bit different than other places, the leave the iPad at your table to order but then take it away. You can always flag them down to get it back and order more but might be better to have one available in case you want to order some more right away when you're doing AYCR. Food definitely comes out quickly and is very spelled out on the menu. The nigiri are very good portion sizes. Also tried a few rolls and the tonkatsu ramen (the portion size is small which is nice since you'll be enjoying all your other rolls). It's a large place inside. This place is amazing. Some friends and I took our high school graduation seniors for a guys night out for dinner. We did the All You Can Eat option. We were able to order appetizers, sushi rolls, nigiri, Ramen(not ordered) and dessert. The restaurant is very clean, new and kind of swanky. Went on a recent Sunday afternoon. This is an all you can eat menu, where for about $30, you can order from about two dozen varieties of fresh sushi, ramen dishes appetizers and even a few entrees like a crispy Thai chicken. Everything we had was delicious and delivered to the table quickly. You order as you go so things don't go to waste, but they weren't stingy. The dining room is bright with big windows, and a more cozy area to the rear. Plenty of space and friendly service. Highly recommend for sushi in downtown Milwaukee. read more

Too doughy. Fishy too. Will not order again. Nigiri....the BEST nigiri on an auce menu in the mke area I've seen! Great portion of fish to rice. Great food and the worst service ever. We sat down and the waitress was not clear on their "process." She never asked us how many people were doing all you can eat. One of us did all you can eat and the other just got an à la carte roll. The bill came and we were charged for two all you can eats. The waitress made a big deal out of it and tried to make it sound like it was our fault. Even worse was when the manager also tried to blame us for causing the problem.
