So I came the other day after a rough day of tryna burn these screens at home I have everything at home but idk what it was I was doing wrong well now I know I left the my screens exposed too long to the light therefore when I went to burn my 6 color job 2 outta the 4 screens were good so last minute because I didn't have time and wanted the job done already I took it here we've previously got work done once before and it came out immaculate the screen burning was on point. Where else are you going to go to buy screens? McLogan's? Good luck getting a worker to acknowledge your existence. Luckily, this place is super convenient. The prices are decent and service is excellent. Parking is the only real issue, especially when you're lugging a bunch of screens with you. We typically stop by Rheetech to get film made, then drop the screens off to get burned. Screens are ready in 24 hours. Longer, if you are bringing your own to get power washed and coated (around 48 hour turnaround) Be sure to clean the ink out of your screen if you are going this route. Screens with ink will not be accepted. Mesh tear, but you still have a solid frame? Screen re-stretching takes a few days for completion. Chang keeps 160 mesh screens coated, in stock and ready to burn on the spot in 20 short minutes. A few years back, the boyfriend had acquired an exposure unit, so for a short while, we were burning screens at home. Our power washer wasn't the greatest at getting the job done and we were, I'm sure, annoying the neighbors. Cleaning screens are not my favorite way to spend the day. Much less, reclaiming, coating, burning, power washing again/drying and all the steps associated with DIY burning screens. If you don't get it right, you'll be repeating steps 2-5 again and you're pushing your deadline back. Not worth the trouble to save a few bucks. It takes a deft hand and some serious finesse to get it right. And when you do, the life of the image never lasts as long as when you get it professionally done. Me? Needed to get some screens burned to make some merch for our band. We went in to ask a few questions and see what the process was like, but basically were told just to email our logos to Maria (separate from Screen Depot) and then go from there. Once we got things going, they worked pretty quick. The only problem I had was with the communication between Maria and Chang. They should clarify their roles to the customer more, just so we know what is going on. We went in a few days after sending in the designs and Maria made the transparent, just to make sure Maria got the sizing of our designs right. They were perfect! Chang then told us to wait 20 minutes and he would have the screens ready to go. And the results were amazing! Their pricing was also great, we did a lot of research and this is the best price you will get without compromising on great quality. If you can be patient with the communication between Maria and Chang We haven't had the chance to use the screens yet, so I might update the review after using them. What appeared to be the perfect solution to getting screens done, turned into a nightmare quickly. This is exactly how it went down: Monday, 9:30AM - I called the number posted here on Yelp. The man that answered my call was great at answering my questions, but that was the end of the good experience. He told me to call "Maria" to send her my artwork. After trying to call her exactly seven times, I gave up. (No answer and a full voice mail) An hour later I get a call from Maria. I asked her in what format to send the files and to what email. I told her that the original artwork was in illustrator and she said that Illustrator CS3 would be good. I was going to ask her about attachments vs sending a download link, but had no time since she quickly hung up after telling me what format she needed the artwork in, so I opted for both and send the two zipped files and a download link just in case. I waited for a confirmation email, but nothing came. I called about an hour later to ask if she had received the artwork, she answered very quickly with what I think was a "yes. Good bye!", but I was able to hold her for another minute to let her know that my partner was going to drop the screens off for them to burn the artwork. She said "ok! ok!" and hung up. When my partner got there to drop the screens off they told him that Maria never gave them the artwork. The guy that was there told him to comeback tomorrow to talk to Maria because they were about to close. I had emailed my artwork some time around 11AM. We figured there must have been some sort of miscommunication or error, nothing to panic about, but the next day... Tuesday, 10:30AM - My partner shows up to talk to Maria. She says she never got my email, showed my partner her inbox. He calls me right away and tells me to resend the artwork. I re-send along with a DropBox link just in case. She still never gets the email. My partner asks her to use the link I sent to (to both Maria and him), but she refuses to use the link saying that she doesn't know anything about that. After a frustrating hour trying to deal with Maria, my brother gives up and asks me to drive a copy of the artwork in a jumpdrive. I live in Long Beach, so a drive to DTLA is quite a hike, but we need to get this project done, so I make the drive. Once I get there, I ask for Maria, they point me to an office on the second floor. Once I walk in, everything seemed to be back on track. I handed her the jump drive, she was able to open the Illustrator files, which I had already color-separated into individual layers. That was the end of the good experience, after several minutes of her fidgeting with the files to figure out how to print them, I asked her if I could help. She asked me seat at her chair, which I did because I just wanted it done. I ended up prepping the files myself. Finally my films were done! I grabbed the films, walked downstairs and one of the men that works there was telling me how Maria has NOTHING TO DO with their company. That she is a separate business. He then went to the back and and got his boss, who immediately told me that my screens would not be ready until Thursday afternoon. (?!) I tried to explain to him that I had been dealing with them since Monday morning, and was hoping they would work with me to at least get the screens done by tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. He said that there was no way, and that he was too busy. He did, however, said that if I wanted to get my screens done faster, then I should buy the screens from him at $25 a piece! After several minutes of back and forth with him, he suggested that I'd go two blocks down to another shop instead. Needless to say, that was the most helpful thing I got out of dealing with this awful excuse for a business. I left there with my blank screens and went to the other place. As it turns out, the other place was called Rheetech. I walked in and was out of there with a receipt in my hand, after dealing with a very knowledgeable and friendly person. They were also very affordable and even offered to have the screens done by noon Wednesday. AVOID SCREEN DEPOT! read more

Great place to get screens burned for very reasonable rates. Some related info: Kinkos can make transparencies up to a 11x17 inch size. If you request that Kinkos use a color machine (instead of a B&W machine) they charge you more ($4 instead of $1.50, I think) but you get a much darker transparency. This way you don't have to tape 2 transparencies together as the other reviewer suggested. read more

I use the Screen Depot to have all my screens made. I have found it to be-by far-more affordable than handling the burning and reclaiming myself. For me, turn-around has always been next day and without problem. Having Maria upstairs to print transparencies is a HUGE advantage. More often than not, I just email my artwork to Maria, who in turn makes the transparencies and gives them to Chang downstairs to be made. All I do it pick up. A great time-saver. I came in with questions, not only was the owner extremely ride from the get go, not even taking the time to listen or see what my troubleshooting item was, he just waved me off with, I've been in this nusiness for 20 years, then moved onto his other clients. This place would seem great if you didn't know any better. If you go a little further down the road to Rhee Tech (2401 S. Main St.) , not only would you get your screen burnt much cheaper but for the same price as screen depot you can get your separations done and your screen washed ($6 for 18x14 film, $8 to wash the screen and $10 burn it). After giving Screen Depot many chances, their work is sloppy. They don't wash out the emulsion thoroughly leaving behind haze and more than once they've used the wrong emulsion having to return the screen for a redo and I've had several screens damaged when they wash with the pressure hose. read more

Note to a previous negative reviewer: They're not unfriendly on the phone, just busy. This person who decided to go somewhere else because they felt slighted on the phone seriously messed up, because this is the best place to go for fast, high-quality silkscreen burning. Blank screens (and ones pre-coated with emulsion) are laughably cheap. Plus I have yet to find a Kinko's / FedEx that still prints 11 x 17 transparencies, so do yourself a favor (and save an extra trip) and have them do them here. McLogan's is right across the street where you can pick up your inks and other supplies, so there's another reason to use Screen Depot. I should mention I gave them some pretty sloppy transparencies taped together every whichway and the screens came back perfect because they check for spots and other problems. They are super-busy but also friendly and considerate in person. I was thrilled with the quality and fast turnaround (less than 24 hours). 5 stars. read more

I have never been treated more poorly! The older gentleman I spoke to was rude and inconsiderate. I called on a Wednesday, told him about 2 (out of 4) of my screens that didn't reclaim completely. (I have a pressure washer at home and the other 2 screens reclaimed completely!) And since Screen Depot put the emulation on all 4 screens I went in to seek help. i told him, over the phone, I'd be in on the following Friday, as that was the only available time I had...he said 'I'll see you Friday'. I come in, he's less than helpful, trying to find every excuse telling me I did everything wrong. He said that he would finish reclaiming my screens for $4 each, I reluctantly obliged, Then he walked away and said, 'come back tomorrow' as he headed towards the back of the building. read more

She is completely rude, unprofessional and totally incompetent. After an hour and a half of her bumbling around she then said to come back tomorrow and refused to talk saying she did not speak English. yeah this place is okay..but i found a hidden gem..called RHEETECH. they are on 24th and main. i think they have been around longer and much more to choose from...supplies to services...can do over sized screens and they can also expose them. fast turn around friendly staff can't believe i found this place..literally they are 2 blocks down so i would advise checking them out...good luck to all local artists and screen printers..REALLY A ONE STOP SHOP like they claim.. read more
