One of the strangest experiences I've ever had. Walked in to get a quote for some business cards and check their pricing structure. Was lectured for a few minutes on how business cards are "not a magic bullet" and how "if you need to ask (the price), it's probably out of your range." I asked about engraved business cards. Quoted ~$2.5k for a handful of paper cards. Not a single engraved card sample in sight and their limited (2) samples were entirely unimpressive. Was so hot and stuffy inside, felt like I was suffering oxygen deprivation. From the owner himself, if you need business cards, "go to one of those online places." If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. I needed some basic white t shirts printed, I called and they were extremely familiar with what I needed as they have done it "thousands of times". They said they would call back once they found the T-shirts I needed in my size. I got a call back about 30 minutes later and they did not have any of the sizes I needed but told me if I could run over to target really quick and bring the shirts, they would have everything ready for me to print them on the spot. I was in a time crunch so I didn't have any other choice. When I walked in I was greeted by the nicest people imaginable, SO FRIENDLY, FUNNY, JUST THE ABSOLUTE BEST SERVICE YOU CAN ASK FOR. They did exactly as promised, took care of everything, I will take all of my business to the folks at Control Printing moving forward. honestly i left feeling weird & ripped off. PRO: they were fast. i came in with one item to print & they got it done. CON: i can't use the item bc the quality is not great. just don't get anything done from here if you want coiled binding. it's not going to be what you are expecting, & it will fall apart in front of them when you open it, & they will ask what YOU did.. when it's like .. i simply turned the page of the item you put together. um? still felt like i had to pay for it since it was done even tho it's going in the trash. then i drove to Staples & they got it done - better quality & nice real coiled binding for less than this place charged me. read more

We used these guys to print our wedding invitations. They came out mostly great but we were surprised at the amount of work needed on our end just to get the job done. Our job was a little unique because we came in with pre-printed post cards and just needed the text put on them. We proposed the idea of doing it with a sticker to make the job easier. But the print shop insisted it would look better if they printed it directly on the card and ensured us that they were up to the task. We gave them the text and design in exactly the format they requested. They printed a couple of proofs and we made some notes to finalize everything. Then we waited. And waited. We had to send several follow-ups before getting any kind of response. We were told multiple times to come in because they had to work to show us. So we rushed home from work to make it in before closing. And then were just shown another proof. This happened a couple of times before we asked to please move on to the actual printing. (We started the process with a lot of time but actual months had gone by at this point.) Then we waited some more. Total silence on their end. We had to keep reaching out and following up. It started to get stressful. When we finally heard back, they still hadn't printed the invites. There were excuses: they started to do it but realized it was a more time-consuming job than they originally thought, they started to do it but then ran out of ink. When we finally did get the invitations, we looked through them and realized that some of the names and addresses we'd sent them were missing. We considered asking to go back and ask them to please finish the job. But we honestly didn't feel like waiting even longer and having to continue chasing them to get the job done. So we just went ahead and did the rest ourselves by hand. At the end of the day what we did get looked great. And we do feel like the price was fair. But we do wish we'd known just how long the process was going to take and how much effort we were going to need to put in just to get any kind of response. read more

This place is honestly so great. They make you feel so welcomed and make the impossible seem super possible. I needed a sash printed on very last minute with a logo and text on it. Given the time frame I gave them, they did not give me a hard time at all and Alex was super accommodating on what I needed done even though it was last minute. I 10/10 recommend them if you need anything printed on, whether it be paper or fabric. All I had to do was send them the logo and everything exactly how I wanted. When I got the sash the quality of the logo was kept and was not at all pixelated, the text and logo's color pigments were vibrant! It was exactly what I needed. I put in a order for "3" long sleeve t-shirts one month prior to needing them. Alex assisted me with a logo'd design shirt...this went well with some lag time, but due to the amount of time we had I was not concerned. I was provided a vendor book they trusted to choose a shirt style from. I chose and expected the order to be back well within the time I needed them. We had about three weeks leeway. I then called numerous times asking if the shirts were ready, and basically got the run around. I went in finally the DAY BEFORE I NEEDED THE SHIRTS after being told the shirts were IN, and arrived to 3 shirts, with no printing being pulled out of a bag. The shirts were extremely thin as in freckles could be seen through these shirts. They said they didn't want to print on them until they had my approval and mentioned the shirts had been sitting there a few days. Puzzled I explained I would not approve the poor quality shirts and was left no time to go buy my own (which they would not guarantee if I did not buy shirts directly from them). When I was left NO OPTIONS, and would have to use these shirts I was told their press was not operating and had not been working at all that week. The owners did not stay in close contact with me to let me know all of these issues were occurring. I went to my event with no team shirts. Because they did not make near appropriate effort to work with me in any capacity to rectify these hurdles I will not use this vendor again. read more

They are complete life savers like the other yelper mentioned. I needed a shirt made before my daughter's birthday party and it was done in 20 minutes. I had originally went to the Culver City Westfield Shopping Center and got a Bubble Guppies characters transparency added on an H & M shirt that we bought, but the guy there added a full sheet transparency on the shirt which made it all sticky and dirty. He charged us 20 bucks for it and pocketed the money. I tried to wash it and make it better, but it only made it worse. So that is where Alex, Nadine and his staff became my life savers. I've ordered labels for my business online in the past, it took over a week to get them in my hands, and I wasn't getting a response after trying to order them several times, I didn't have that kind of time, my ad campaign was breaking in a few days. I saw this shop out of the corner of my eye while driving home from Costco. Maybe it was the giant bears playing cards in the window? Pulled around the block. So Glad I Did That. Nice people, good feeling that they're happy to be working together, unlike the national chains of printers/shipper shops where everyone that works there is a burnt out student that just might be too high to operate machinery. Which have resulted in my having to return many times before they got it right. Alex looked at my art work, and my example, made a suggestion that resulted in a much better label for less than it cost me online. The color was saturated in a way that made the ingredient list more legible and punched the logo. He was able to manipulate my file to get 2 extra labels on each sheet, that saved me 1/3 of the cost. We recently had them print another batch of our company shirts - but they got the color wrong. Red turned out Brown. Instead of fixing the problem, they refused and said we had to pay AGAIN to fix the color problem. They made every excuse in the book as to why the color was brown and not red. Not only was the color wrong, the quality was poor as well. The logo, which is supposed to be square, had a bow on the top as if the shirt was stretched during printing. The logo also has uninked specs and "noise" from dirty screens or films...terrible job and even worse, terrible customer service. read more

Well, I've lived in LA nearly 15 years & I have never written a negative Yelp review before (which is pretty impressive), but the owner of this place was so ignorantly rude that I felt the need. I try to support local business and decided instead of going to Staples or Kinko's that I would try this mom & pop print shop. The first time I went in there was no one there that could print color copies. What? I did just walk into a print shop, right? That is what you do, correct? They stepped out & would be back in an hour she said. Ok, I figured I would grab something to eat nearby & left my phone # to be called when the color guy returned. So that's what I did & about 40 minutes later I got a phone call that he was back. Good, glad that they called before I had to call them. When I returned to the store the woman I had spoken with earlier was no longer there, but the owner & another gentlemen were & I explained that I needed 2 large format color copies for a class I was taking that I had the files on a jump drive. He put the jump drive in and said, "What are you taking a class in what not to do in design?" Joke? Not sure, a bad one, if that, but I let it slide. Then he proceeded to print the wrong size, so that the image did not bleed to the sides for one of the files even though the image had crop marks clearly showing it did. Oops. The other guy working loaded in a larger size sheet & he reprinted. A bit darker than I anticipated, but workable. Then the 2nd file was printed and the print came out a muddled black with streaks, not the solid light gray that I had in the pdf. I asked why it was streaky and he said it was my file and once again repeated, "That's why I said are you taking a class in what not to do in design?" and I said, "Yes, I heard you the first time and I appreciate your encouragement. That's what every student wants to hear." He wasn't catching my sarcasm, so I simply paid and left. Drove down the street and got a much better print at Staples Print & Copy a mile away which was surprisingly not muddled black & streaky. Huh, weird, same file! Here's the thing, I don't believe that the customer is always right and I am a student, so I'm sure there is something that I could have done differently to get a better print, but the owner was a rude a-hole and I will be telling everyone in my class, at my school, and friends (and fellow Yelpers too) who need printing done in the area to avoid going there. Students end up being loyal customers and that's what I could have been potentially. By the way, the other gentlemen working there that loaded the paper & cashed me out was nothing, but nice and I hope he finds another job somewhere else soon. read more
