Since the move, absolutely awful. As mentioned in a previous review, this is predominantly due to the owner, his attitude, and poor business practices. Here is the story: Being previous clients at the old location, we wanted to keep our groomer so my wife drove 20 minutes to the new place. Upon arriving, she was met with a completely vacant building-- no signs, no one answering the phone, yet the door was wide open. Turns out they had a gas leak and had to evacuate-- understandable, these things happen. An appointment was made for the next day. The next day, after keeping my dog for 5 hours (again, understandable, they were likely backed up), I came in expecting an apology or some sort of discount-- none of which I received. When I mentioned that we drove 20 minutes only to find an empty place without so much as a phone call, the owner told me "well, I drive 35 min to work". Inconvenience aside, leaving the door open without any signage put my wife and any other clients who walked in that building that day at extreme risk. I noted this to the owner-- still nothing. Finally, he hands me the bill and it is not only full price, but 70% HIGHER!! Our neighbor's dog is 3x the size of ours and we paid the same-- ludicrous. Many of our neighbors were similarly mistreated. There are 4 of us who were loyal clients at the old location and willing to travel 20 minutes. In one fell swoop he lost us all. Evidently, this gentleman never learned that keeping clients is far more valuable than a quick payday. Avoid at all costs. read more

I showed up for an appointment and waited outside in the cold w my puppy for over 20 minutes! I called, no answer. I had to track them down on Facebook to find out they canceled all appointments that day. Nobody called me!!! I asked for the next appointment. I was told they would return my call. Nobody did!! I found them on facebook again after nobody answering calls. Got an appointment for 2 weeks later, and no apology. I bring in my puppy and got a call an hour later, that he is not welcome back. They told me he is too anxious and untrained (we have had him in obedience classes). The first time we went she told us I would stay the first few times to comfort him. This was not offered this visit. Again no apology or any attempt to make it work. They were rude and unwilling to work with us. read more

This place is a hot mess! The hours make no sense and nobody's ever there!! I wasted my time going there on two separate occasions during their "open hours" only to find out it was in fact not open. Definitely not worth the trip from what I could see. Would never attempt to go again. How can I trust someone with my dog when they can't even run their business properly. read more

I've been taking my cock-a-poo to Scrub a Pup for the last 7 years, they do a fantastic job! The cut is perfect, and his hair is always so soft and shiny from the amazing conditioner. They tailor the cut to your requests and they are gentle with the dogs. The owner, Todd, is very accommodating. Very few dogs being groomed at any one time. They take genuine interest in the dogs overall health and well-being. read more

Trying to get an appointment is horrible. I have been on a waiting list for 4 weeks. Its REALLY bad when the OWNER does nothing to book you an appointment. He could care less of booking a prior client. Thats okay there are groomers that care about their clients and will make time in their schedule. Took my pup for her very first grooming session (in her life) and she came out all sparkly and happy The staff was very attentive and gentle with my puppy and she really came out of the session all prettied up !! They even put a cute pup scarf on her and gave advice on how to deal with my pupps dry skin. I will definitely recommend this place to all dog owners. Bonus- if you don't want to pay as much they have self serve stations as well which are cheaper than if the staff groomed your dog. So all dog owners you should definitely check out this place. read more

PSA: if you have an anxious dog, DO NOT go to Scrub-A-Pup in Plainfield Pike in Cranston. It's tiny, and the tubs are metal so everything echos. There was a humongous German Shepard who was trying to escape his bath and get at us. For what purpose I don't know, but Olive was so upset that she was shaking. When they told me there was a two-towel limit per dog, I had had it. I didn't cause a scene, which is amazing considering I wanted to scream the place down, but we will definitely never set foot in there again. The staff was nice enough but totally ineffectual at accommodating us. Also, at $12/wash, the oatmeal shampoo shouldn't cost an extra $8. Three stars for the staff being friendly, but I'm definitely not recommending the place. read more

Our first visit ..we have a 3yo female Shi Tsu we recently adopted. Was referred to Chelsea by a former grooming salon she worked at...she caught my eye grooming another dog at the time. I'm glad I sought her out she was worth it..she did a FANTADTIC JOB..my dog LOVED her..no.problems at all..reasonably priced..and a nice clean looking salon for pets.. Love the self serve dog was concept. Nice clean place with friendly helpers. We brought out 13 y.o. Golden and we loved it do much we took her home and took out 5 y.o. English Shepard. They have 3-4 big tubs in the self serve area and 3 drying stations with blowers brushes and ear cleaning stuff. We took a while with our older dog as the fur wouldn't stop flying and they didn't rush us at all. It cost $25/wash then another $10 for them to do the nails. They have all the stuff AND do the cleanup. We'll be back regularly now. read more

First the good: the place is nice and clean, and does not smell like wet dog. We came for the self-wash, and the tubs were very clean, and the water is set at a nice comfortable temperature. They provide towels, soap, conditioner, and ear cleaner. Also a cool AIR blow dryer so you don't burn your pet. Now the bad: prior to coming, we checked the website, which says self wash "from $12". We came in, and spent a while with a wonderful staff member who spent a while with us, teaching us about de-tangling our dog. We asked about the self wash, and were told that, yes, it is $12.We washed her and then checked out, and were told by the owner that our wash was $25! He (not the very helpful staff member) told us there are three prices for self wash, based on The size of the dog. I told him that this should be posted. But, what could I do? We had already used the facility! I checked the website again after getting home, and, sure enough, it says from $12 . I sent an email message on the website, and the owner called me back and ARGUED with me! I told him that I thought The price should be clear, especially since the size of our dog was obviously not a secret. We should not have been dropped that price when we checked out. As a business owner, I could never imagine getting into an argument with a customer like that! It's too bad. Nice concept. For $12, it would have been great. For $25, forget it. I had been bringing my big dog since this place opened. Originally, it was $15 for a self wash, the end. They provided shampoo, towel. Air dryer. Little ear cleaners. It was nice, and they were definitely making a profit. Well I haven't been since July 2017- I bathe him at home/outside in the summer. Went there 2 weeks ago, and there was a sign on the door that said "Self wash- Starting at $12". I thought it was odd, but I dismissed it. Well I'm washing my dog, and I notice the shampoo is watered down. No joke. The quality has taking a BIG down hill turn. It's literally like pouring water in your hands. I HAD to use quite a bit, which they now MEASURE. Yes, the bottle has measurement lines and when you're done they check how much you've used. Mind you, I have a BIG dog. So picture this: I'm scrubbing, sweating and getting soaked everytime my dogs shakes the water off. I spent 1 hour there just scrubbing him, he's almost 90 lbs. I spent 15 min rinsing. Then I bring him to blow dry, they used to have settings- low, high. Now it's just one setting of coolish air.....it took an ETERNITY TO DRY this dog. And when we left, he was STILL DAMP, even with serious towel drying. Car full of wet dog hair. Heads up, the ear cleaner used to come automatically, now you have to ASK for it. That was crap too. Long story short, dog needed a nail trim as well- for that I will say THE TECHS WERE AMAZING. So I go pay.....drum roll.....$35.00....and on the receipt it had THE NERVE, TO LEAVE A SPACE for TIPS!!!! That's right, they would like to be tipped for: YOU washing your own dog!! It's SO ABSURD!! It should be ONE PRICE, across the board, like before. I felt like I was punished because my dog is bigger. THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW WASTEFUL HUMANS ARE WITH WATER, PRODUCT etc. I was and am ALWAYS conscious of unnecessary waste. If all they care about is the money, they need to state EXACTLY "what size dog equals what price"!!!! How do they even figure that out??? Some people waste more water, shampoo, and whatever else on a medium size dog just because they are wasteful. Sucks. I thought it was such a great idea when it opened. For those prices, and crappy supplies, I'll have a professional do it. read more

I brought my foster dog in here for a bath after she came off the transport dirty and scared. The staff here helped me with so much more than that- they shaved the parts of her that were matted, clipped her toenails, and helped me dry her off. I have never felt so touched by a grooming salon's affection for dogs. If I lived in the area, I would definitely come back all the time. read more

Awesome. Staff is super friendly. I've taken both of my dogs for the self service baths and it worked out great each time. Provides shampoo, conditioner, ear cleaner. Two towels per dog or it's an extra $2.00 per towel. I've only needed one towel for my 75 lb pooch before taking him over to the blow dryer. They also sell treats, which is definitely the best part as far as my they are concerned. There may be other dogs there in the self serve area so you don't want to bring a dog aggressive pet there (or, probably any other self serve wash facility). read more

I had a wonderful experience at Scrub A Pup. The concept of self service dog grooming is a great way to ease your pet's anxieties, especially if they don't like going to the groomer. It also createsa new bonding experience for you and your dog. It was very clean and had a great atmosphere, which is in part contributed to Linda, who is very sweet and a true animal lover. She opened the business in memory of her beloved dog that passed away, she truly understands the special bond that is shared with a pet. I brought my American Bulldog, Georgia for a self service clean. Georgia, is a big girl (88 lbs) and if it was up to her, would live forever dirty. But, she actually seemed to enjoy her time here. The tubs and cleaning stations have stairs, so Georgia had easy access into the tub and it was effortless to wash her. there is no bending or straining. Everything needed is provided for you, including rubber aprons, lovely scented oatmeal shampoo and conditioner, a variety of brushes and combs, endless towels and large dryers with different level settings for different hair/fur types. Linda was also kind enough to show us a new way to clean Georgia's ears and gave her lots of love and some yummy treats. My fur baby has never looked so clean or smelled so good, we will definitely be going back! read more
