So the ice cream here is solid and they always have interesting flavor combinations, but the milkshakes are so inconsistent and frankly not good at all. Multiple times now I've ordered shakes and what I got was basically very cold chocolate milk. When I looked I side it seems like they're using cheap home blenders in the kitchen. Overall this place is okay and you can get a decent scoop. Don't expect to have an amazing experience and skip the milk shakes. read more

It was great! I just didn't like the presentation, they could've served it in a better size cup!! Wow, amazing and flavorful ice cream! The whole family enjoyed some Scruffy's yesterday. The perfect Middleburg treat. The chocolate was amazing. I mean, it was so satisfying, I don't know if I'll be able to eat chocolate ice cream form anywhere else ever again! I was actually lucky enough to get stuck with leftovers... Walking in you'd think it's decorated by a 5 year old with a dragon vomiting up a rainbow and flying pig adorning the walls. Totally working the small town community appeal and they support the local humane society as well, how cool! So imagine my disappointment when I realize they don't make their own ice cream but just have Hershey's ice cream available. That along with a hefty lunch killed my appetite for a sweet treat. There was a nice lady that took our offer. We both got sundaes. We enjoyed our sundaes and ice cream was good. You can tell when you walk into this place that is dog friendly. This ice cream shop was once run by volunteers and profited the Middleburg Humane Society's work with rescued animals. It has been sold and now appears purely for profit. That takes some of the joy away but it's still a great place to visit. It's the only ice cream shop in Middleburg and still offers as good an ice cream selection/quality as ever. The variety changes so don't expect it to serve up the same flavors from week to week, like a generic chain. It's a great treat to stop by with family. It's a small place and gets crowded on busy days but is worth the stop. My family and I have been going for over twenty years and we feel fortunate it's been a part of my family's outings. read more

Delicious ice cream for a wonderful cause! Scruffy's is you real deal ice cream parlor. I might be a bit biased as we adopted a dog from The Middleburg Humane Foundation (all proceeds go there), but hey who doesn't love a great frozen treat? Every time we would walk in there with our sweet dog Millie the staff would instantly recognize her from the shelter and put a scoop of vanilla in a cup for our furry friend, free of charge. Millie has since passed away, but like many other previous members of the shelter is remembered through a picture on the wall.
