Great ice cream great vibe, except for one thing. There is a girl calling out peoples names (it's 8:30 on a Friday night) and it is totally killing the vibe. I can tell people are annoyed by her yelling and it even startled my 5 month old niece. I literally downloaded the yelp app just to make sure that she does not get put on that job again. She seems like a hard worker but there are certain people for certain jobs and she should not be on the yelling peoples name's job. Again, great place and great vibe except for the yelling. Maybe a speaker/ microphone system could solve this or have someone with a softer voice calling out names. read more

Great icecream, amazing fries, it's like really fabulous boardwalk food right in town! Kids love it, and we enjoy it for a treat after a sports game or two. If there was any complaint at all I'd wish for more shaded seating, as the umbrellas barely cover the tables meaning maybe half the seats are in shade which is tough in the summer sun - but it's outdoors so that's more nitpicky than necessary! My husband has wonderful memories of this place, and says it has grown in size and popularity over the years. Me being an ice cream connoisseur had to try it! The website says they are closed on mondays which is how we avoided a long line. Normally there are two long lines I'm told that move quickly. The menu was the most impressive, so many options flavors and choices. From butterscotch to cake shake almost anything you can think of they have. Me being healthy ordered a banana split, and chose three flavors. We also got the waterloo, an ice cream cone, a funnel cake... well lots of sugar lol. The soft serve is good, I will admit I like ice cream over this type of dessert but it has great flavor and everyone loved their treats. The price point is also fair. They also have regular food and fried desserts. There are outside seating tables. It was a warm day but we found a nice spot to people watch and devour our treats. As a Fauquier county native I can say I have never been disappointed by this place except when they close in the off season :-)' I loved back a few years ago with my fiancé and stepdaughter and of course had to introduce them to our little GEM. They have since become addicted like I was. My spouse always gets the waterloo (it has a Sunday on the bottom and a milkshake on top) and my stepdaughter always get the cotton candy ice cream with gummy bears and some type of drizzle. Love going to the Carousel! I can't really speak to the variety of flavors available because I tend to get the same thing every time, but it's delicious. The staff is always friendly and service is pretty fast. Sometimes on really hot days there is a long line but even so it moves quickly. There is plenty of seating in the patio area and the nearby trees provide nice shade if you want to sit on the grass. When they are really busy you may have to share a table with strangers if you want a seat. They are dog-friendly but it's at a fairly busy intersection so be extra cautious if you decide to take your dog along. read more

We have been back to this shop finally this year since my first visit 2 years ago. We have had good / friendly customer service each time. The treats are based off of standard soft serve ice cream l, but with a ton of variations and options to include grilled and fried foods. Such a fun place! We had their sliders and fries which I thought were great and generously portioned. The sliders come w cheese and grilled onion. For ice cream, the turtle sundae was good - the first time I ordered it, they made it w the vanilla soft serve. Which was not how I ordered it. So the owner actually was there working and he remade it for me using the soft serve flavors of the day, how I had initially asked. And he made it better than the the other staff had! It's been a little while since I've been here and came today for lunch and a treat so here's my update as I had never tried any of their food before, just their ice cream. I was hoping to get a corn dog but sadly I was informed they only sale those on Wednesday. A little odd, but their slider special had caught my eye so I got that instead. Two sliders topped with cheese and sautéed onions, with a side of fries and a drink for $5.95. Yummy! The sliders needed sauce of some sort, mayo or fry sauce (mayo+ketchup mixed) but other then that I would get those again. LOVED the fries. So yummy. And I think they were topped with a light dash of sea salt which was really yummy. After lunch I took a twist, chocolate dipped cone to go. Yum! Their funnel cake sundae is my favorite but I was already way too full! It's a good thing I don't live very close to this place! It's so fatty but so yummy! I was in the area visiting friends and after dinner they said they wanted to go for ice cream. I piled into the car with them and we headed over to Carousel. When we arrived the line was long and ever growing. It's definitely a popular place. It's a simple walk up stand where you can get food and ice cream. The ice cream is soft serve and my friends all got cups. I opted for the cherry shake. I don't know about theirs by my cherry shake was good. It's a simple vanilla base but it had real cherries in it. It was also a nice thick shake but just viscous enough to suck through the straw.
