Food & service were amazing! Great margarita (made with fresh lime juice not sour mix) and a great vodka gimlet with a coconut foam topper.... sooooo good! King Street sure opens far from the actual street itself LOL. I stopped here for lunch during my first outing in Middleburg. It has some lovely outdoor seating, and the inside is smaller than other locations I've been to. There is some additional seating on the second level, but it's not that much. The staff were very kind, giving my colleagues and I water and then menus to look over. It took me a bit, but we all shared the blue crab dip and I decided to get the parmesan crusted trout. I'm a sucker for asparagus and the mashed cauliflower was delicious! I've been to the other locations for happy hour, but I really like the vibe of this one. We've been to KSOB many times over the years, since coming to their first location, before they opened the Middleburg location, which was in Leesburg, and we really enjoyed that one. We've been to this location many times as well and it's always packed and busy, so we're glad they do reservations! We recently went as a party of 7 and sat upstairs. Service was excellent and attentive, even though they were so busy. The menu was slightly different from what I recall it used to be, as they didn't have the sea bass entrée anymore, but they definitely had many amazing and appetizing options. I drank a Passionfruit Margarita, made by Bartender Laini. It was her first time making one because it is not on the menu, and it was too sweet, so I exchanged it for a club soda with a splash of ginger ale. I could taste the fresh, crunchy corn in the Crab and Crown Chowder, but I could hardly see or taste the crab. The oyster crackers placed on top of the chowder were salty and unnecessary. Overall, the Chowder was okay. The Grilled Scallop and Seafood Pasta had fresh seafood, but it was too salty, especially the scallops. The noodles were perfectly cooked, but they did not have the nutty taste that I was looking for. The mushrooms were the best tasting part of the dish. I passed on dessert because I did not want yet another disappointment. I've been to this KSOB location a few times while visiting Middleburg. It's always solid and always busy so come during an off time or be prepared to wait. Decided to stop in during happy hour on a Monday. This place was packed and we didn't have a reservation. Just as I thought all hope was lost two spots opened up upstairs in the window area. Because it was happy hour we went with the mermaid tower and salmon sliders. The tower was huge and had a great variety. It came with claims, mussels, crab, shrimp, oysters on the half shell and ceviche. Everything was fresh and shucked really well. We also ordered the salmon sliders. They were on the happy hour menu and just decided to give them a try. They were decent. Nothing special, but they weren't bad either. All in all we enjoyed ourselves. A lively spot in the heart of Middleburg! We randomly stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and found the entire restaurant absolutely packed to the brims with revelers and jollymakers. We happened to stumble across their weekend happy hour and fully took advantage of their great bar bites and drinks. Winners include the grilled oysters (just like New Orleans!), blue crab dip, and mini crab cake sliders. I opted for their house pinot which was a steal at $7 a glass but I noticed a couple downing their signature Bloody Marys a few tables down and was impressed by how tasty it looked -- let's just stay they really know how to garnish up some tomato juice! They had two people servicing the entire upstairs but the staff made it seem like there was a full team. They were quick and effortless and remembered orders without even writing it down. They are true professionals in every sense of the word. Crowd was a bit on the mature side, but I don't think that is nothing out of the ordinary for this town. Second, the drinks were fun and well prepared. Third, and most importantly, the food was excellent. We had a party of 6 and everyone liked what they had. I am not an oyster guy, but our oyster specialist in the group was impressed with both the selection and the quality of what he chose. I had the Mussels for my main course and they were perfectly prepared in terms of doneness, tenderness and the sauce they came in. I could not have been more pleased. The bisque was very light and smooth. The lobster roll he got was cold and it was ok but we think we're going to go with the hot lobster roll next time. I spent Mother's Day in Middleburg and was staying at the red fox inn across from king street oyster bar. I'm not a huge seafood lover so was hesitant to eat here but the fact that it was so conveniently located to the hotel made it an easy choice. It was pretty busy on a Friday afternoon, but me and my mom were promptly seated even though we had no reservations. Service was great but OMG the food was delicious, it blew my mind. I ordered the grilled salmon with mashed cauliflower and lemon butter and a side of Mc and cheese. The salmon was divine, perfectly cooked and the cauliflower mashed tasted just like mashed potatoes, so creamy and good! The portion of the salmon was pretty generous. The side of Mc and cheese was huge! That could have been an entree and it was the best Mc and cheese I've ever had. I'm still dreaming about it, so rich and creamy. Our go to place when in Leesburg. Old town leesburg is beautiful and this restaurant is rustic and perfectly fits the area. This place will always hold a special place in my heart. We were given a table with high stools which wasn't going to work with our party and we were easily accommodated with a different table. However, our service had a rough start and our waiter was not attentive with water or refills of our drinks. After we ended up going to the bar for refills, he ended up being attentive. We love King Street Oyster Bar and have brought many friends and family to visit over the last 4 or so years. It can be a little cramped inside but I love the decor and vibe regardless so it makes it fun. All the food we've sampled (ex: scallop pasta, Nashville hot chicken, crab dip, tuna tacos, blue cheese chips, hushpuppies, mussels) have been generous portions and very flavorful. Overall, we've never left with a bad meal/overall experience. Two things to note on my very recent experience: 1. I reserved a table of 10 and during the reservation process (you have to call or email for this size), no one told me they do not allow checks to be split by couples/people at the table. This is important to know for some groups and would've been helpful so I could warn my group. 2. Some of the dishes have changed or don't match their description on the menu, which I found to be not as good as the original (still a very good meal). Examples: tuna tacos - nothing has changed menu wise but they went from raw diced chunks to an overcooked strip of grilled tuna. Second, in one of the pics I attached, you'll see the original scallop pasta vs the updated new version that combined both pasta dishes on the menu. I have no problem with the combo other than it clearly states lobster is included (like the original), but there is no lobster on my plate. In fairness, I would've brought this up had I caught it there, but just noticed when looking at the picture. Can't believe I missed it (my favorite part of the dish) but we were so deep in conversation at the table. The two things above are minor overall but important to know for reservation and paying attention to the details of the dish. I will definitely be back and give these dishes a second chance to see if it was just the day; it's definitely worth the try regardless. read more

Amazing restaurant in a very cool old white washed brick building serving up amazing seafood. We went for lunch and I had the crab cake over the shredded brussel salad. The crab cake was amazing-we don't get them like that in Boston! We went back the next day for Happy Hour-another thing we don't have in Boston! Great prices for some amazing seafood! The restaurant looked just like the pictures, nautical theme, and had a steady crowd inside already. Had the lobster salad which was excellent and friend ordered fish and chips, another salmon, which they also said was excellent. There was a little one that was able to get a kids burger for a reasonable price that she liked (they had booster and high chairs available). The restaurant was surprisingly packed when we showed up on a Thursday afternoon (always a good sign!) We were seated in the upstairs bar, a cute (if slightly crowded) space. We opted to sample quite a few appetizers (chili, Jax mussels, and Asian tuna) and cocktails and weren't disappointed! We were seated right away and our server was very attentive. The chili was shockingly good, tomato-heavy but full of flavor. I generally prefer a more TX style chili but this was delicious. Asian tuna was next, the sauce is light and salty/sweet, the crunch on top is a perfect partner to the way the tuna melts in your mouth. The only letdown was the mussels, and even those were still pretty good. The sauce was more butter than anything else which is awesome, but I wanted more acid/lemon/garlic. DMV has a number of King Street Oyster Bar's (just going out on a limb and saying they all might be linked in some way), but Middleburg's was a good stop, if you're staying at the Salamander. We made weekday reservations (highly recommended btw, as the place is small) and were seated right away. When you enter, you'll find someone shucking away at oysters to your left. And just behind the tables in the middle, you'll see the kitchen bustling away at orders. There's an upstairs bar and high-top seating area and that's where we were seated. We order Happy Hour Oyster shooters (love that they had a house made habanero sauce), Happy Hour Calamari (would've liked my sauce on the side and not underneath all my calamari), the Thai salad (decent but had more noodles than lettuce), and a couple kids meals; We wanted to order a healthier veggie option for the kids (over fries) but they stopped serving green beans (on the menu) and asparagus was the only option (and my kid were rather eat dirt than asparagus- it's the only vegetable she can't do, literally).
