    Wasabi deviled eggs
    Rachel K.

My boyfriend and I stopped by for Friday evening dinner and drinks. We ordered 1 white wine flight, the margarita pizza, wasabi deviled eggs, and 1 bottle of the 2023 Albarino Verde. We really enjoyed the Albarino Verde. This wine was crisp, refreshing, and perfect for a summer day. The pineapple and grapefruit were the most noticeable notes. The deviled eggs were good but not quite worth $12. I didn't taste any wasabi which was disappointing. The margarita pizza was great! I would definitely get this again. Simple but delicious. The dough itself was really good and we enjoyed the thinness of the crust. It also came out piping hot. The winery itself is very pretty with a lot of outdoor seating. It ended up raining when we were there which was no issue since there's also some seating indoors.

The views of the surrounding countryside are good from the outdoor patio area. The wines are okay. Did the "can't decide" and the "Norton" flights. The staff were not welcoming but not rude either, just there. I asked for recommendations and they pointed out popular wines. It was good to try another winery.

Great views of the rolling hills and friendly service. Kids welcomed (but upstairs is adults only). A large menu, pizza, charcuterie, sandwiches, etc. but the food was just ok. I got a flight and did not like any of the wines; many were very very sweet.

Nice service and scenery. Beautiful view since the winery sits way up at the top of the hill. We went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. I had a chicken pesto sandwich with chips on the side which was delish. Others ordered the pizza, cheese, and hummus platter. Note: no outside food allowed. Sorta bummed because I packed a small travel cooler with fruit and snacks, but I didn't check their website in advance. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing time at Chrysalis. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, which really helped. It wasn't super busy during our visit, which was nice. I love that they have a childfree area. We really, really enjoyed the wine. I did the dry flight and my friend went with the Norton flight. I was really impressed by the wine. The few VA wineries I've been to in the past few years have left me unimpressed. But Chrysalis has great wine. My favorite was the alvarinho verde. I got a glass after and then my friend got a glass of her favorite, the Sarah's Patio. They also have great food so you don't need to worry about bringing anything (which isn't allowed anyway). The pizza crust could've used more color, but overall the flavor was on point. I'm looking forward to returning in the spring as they have a gorgeous outdoor area.

I can't believe I waited so long to come here! This place is AMAZING!!! Location is great! Service was one of the best things and then the wine omg wow! We got the Mariposa rose and loved it. We also got a Marguerite pizza. Pretty DISAPPOINTED to be honest. It was over cooked to the point where it was burnt and almost not edible but we were so hungry and did wait at least 20ish minutes for it, we just didn't want to complain and wait to get a good one. Ambiance wise: lake a little vineyard-winery warmth for my taste ;) Pizza was my only complaint. Everything else was absolutely wonderful! Can't wait to come back during the warmer season! Oh, did I mention I love the fact that they close at 8?!

What a great venue!!! Our family had a lovely picnic (indoors)!! It was quite hot out and most of the tables were taken. We ok some beautiful pictures outside. Great views! Good service too!

The views alone speak for itself! It's spacious and gorgeous! Plenty of IG worthy pics! Visited a few days ago with some friends but can't say that I'd be impressed to return. We walked in and literally no one greeted us. That was already a bad vibe for me. Since we were already here, we were going to make the most of it. We proceeded upstairs to grab some seating. Then we went back downstairs to order pizza and a few bottles of wine. They have 4 tasting flights available for $12. I ended up getting a bottle of their Mariposa (it's a dry rose) and it wasn't bad. The bottles were reasonably priced! The pizza was really good. My review rating is based on how I felt the staff interacted or rather did not. Even when we ordered the pizza and wine, they didn't say anything! Maybe it was just an off day but either way, pretty place but there are many others in this area I'd like to check out!

Simple questions about the wines were met with "I don't know, ask someone else," which took away from the experience. Later, family and friends joined us, bringing the group to around 14 people. Everyone continued purchasing wine, drinks, and food throughout the visit, but the manager told us we needed to move outside despite many open tables being available. We offered to split into smaller groups, but the situation quickly became confrontational and included threats to remove us from the property. Had there been policies for larger groups or additional fees, we would have completely understood if they had been communicated upfront. Instead, the interaction felt unnecessarily hostile and unwelcoming. Beautiful property, but unfortunately the hospitality did not match the setting.

Unfortunately, it turned into one of the most disappointing winery visits I've ever had. What started as a small group of four gradually grew as friends and family who were already wine tasting in the area stopped by to say hello and join us. Once management expressed concern about the group size, we immediately offered to separate into smaller groups and fully complied when asked to move outside. Despite this, the manager, Don, repeatedly threatened to remove us from the property and later doubled down on those comments when I spoke with him privately away from the group. What made the situation especially frustrating was that the property and indoor seating areas were largely empty at the time. We had already purchased multiple bottles of wine, people in our group were continuing to buy food and drinks, and there were several open tables available. The interaction felt unnecessarily hostile and disproportionate to the situation. Even more confusing, during my private conversation with Don, he mentioned there was a higher-priced option available for larger groups -- but this was never offered to us beforehand. Had that been communicated respectfully, we could have made an informed decision. Instead, the approach was confrontational from the start. Unfortunately, the poor experience extended beyond the seating issue. Early in the visit, when we asked staff basic questions about the wines and the property, the responses were dismissive and uninformed. One employee repeatedly told us "I don't know" when we asked about the wines, the grapes grown on-site, and even what was being served in the frozen wine machine. Part of the joy of visiting wineries, for me, is learning about the wines and engaging with staff who are passionate about the experience, and that hospitality was completely absent here. There are many wonderful wineries in the area that make guests feel welcomed and valued. Sadly, this was not one of them. We left feeling embarrassed, unwelcome, and disappointed after what should have been a celebratory afternoon.

I love that there are several options for seating. Past reviews led me to believe it is all open air, but there is a small seating space inside the tasting barn where the bar is. Granted, it still has open airflow, but can be mostly closed in during inclement weather. There are also two lawns with a hard separation--one for families and an adults-only space, which seems like a good way to be inclusive of both families and adults who are tired of children running wild at wineries/breweries. The wines were delicious, and of the ones we sampled the Cab Franc was excellent. I did like the Viognier, but it was a little too mild-flavored for me.

They had one marked for families and one for adults. And it is indeed dog friendly. There was plenty of space for dogs outside with a pet station. The day we went it was very windy so we headed straight inside. The tasting area is open and they have clear covers on the openings to keep the warmth from the heaters in and all the crazy wind and cold out. We opted to do a tasting and Emma assisted us. We did the traditional tasting and were able to try three reds and three whites. It seems like there was something to everyone because folks had different favorites. Emma talked us throihh each selection and happily answered all our questions about wine. After our tasting we were hungry and decided to get two pizzas and some dips. I also tried their cider which was yummy. The pizza was good, we had the mushroom flatbread and pepperoni pizza. Both were yummy or we were really tipsy lol! The icing on top of the experience was the live music. There was a musician singing and playing the guitar that really set the mood. We sat down inside, sipper our drinks, ate our food and played games. Hope to come back with the dogs in warmer weather.

First, a shoutout to our wine server, Hannah, who was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the wines without ever making us feel like we needed a sommelier certification to enjoy them. She guided us through the $20 tasting, which included a wonderful mix of whites and reds. It worked out perfectly because I'm a white wine fan while my husband prefers reds, so naturally we shared every pour and declared ourselves a two-person tasting committee. Now let's talk about the food. The truffle popcorn should probably come with a warning label because it is highly addictive. We kept saying "just one more handful" until the bowl mysteriously emptied itself. The fresh baguette with pimento dip was equally delicious and paired beautifully with the wines. The winery offers plenty of seating options, whether you prefer lounging on the grass, relaxing indoors, or enjoying the covered patio. We chose the covered patio, which provided the perfect balance of fresh air, vineyard views, and shade. And yes, I'm actually going to mention the bathrooms. They were some of the nicest winery restrooms I've encountered--modern, spotless, stylish, and clearly well-maintained. It's one of those little details that says a lot about the overall experience. Great wine, delicious food, beautiful setting, immaculate facilities, and outstanding service from Hannah. Greenhill Vineyards has earned every one of these five stars. We'll definitely be back for another "research trip" in the near future.

We came here first before heading to brunch and a second winery, and honestly, it set the tone for the entire day. The wine selection is solid, and everything we tried was smooth, well-balanced, and easy to enjoy with friends. It's the kind of place where you can actually relax, take your time, and be present. What I love most about Greenhill is the vibe--it feels elevated without being pretentious. Just good wine, great views, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer. If you're planning a Middleburg wine day, start here. You won't regret it.
