I've been coming here for over a year now after being forced to wait 30+ min for a scheduled haircut at another salon. I've never had the same problem here - I don't believe I've waited more than 5 (rarely 10) minutes because you're able to set your own appointments online which is really simple. I've never been dissatisfied with my haircut, I just let him do his work. He's definitely passionate about what he does seeing that he is a perfectionist when it comes to every aspect of your hair. He listens and gives insight on what he thinks would work well. I have a pretty simple haircut, so it always baffled me how someone could possibly mess it up even though I went back to the same person. I had just moved to Chicago a few months ago from Florida and went here on a referral from a friend. I was incredibly nervous as I have stupid thick hair that can be difficult to cut. I have long, straight hair and Diadro gave me a great style with layers for movement while keeping the length. I found out about Diadro through a friend who just raved about him. I've seen Diadro twice now- once for a quick trim and once for a massive change in style- and have been ecstatic both times. If you live on the North Side, I don't know why you'd go anywhere else. Diadro communicated with me thoroughly, combining my vision with his expertise. I was nervous before cutting my hair short, and his words chilled me out. He also kept reinforcing how FUN this was going to be, and gave me great suggestions for multiple style options for later. In terms of the cut, Diadro is FAST. The bulk of my hair was gone in minutes, leaving him lots of time for super-precise detailing; my hair's texture and bangs were shaped to perfection. The styling grows out beautifully, so I don't feel like I have to go back every few weeks for re-shaping. I also appreciate the environment of SDC Cutting Gallery. It's clean, uncluttered, and bright. The music playing is modern, and the girls there are sweet; they totally remembered me after just one visit! Finally, you just can't beat the price. I went to Diadro on the basis of Yelp reviews and I am so glad I did. He spent a lot of time looking at my hair and understanding my willingness to spend time and effort on maintaining a style (very little). He also asked me general questions about my style, my work, and how I liked to look. He even taught me how to properly operate a hairdryer and fixed the remnants of a messy trim I had given myself a few months before. The online booking also makes it really easy to schedule haircuts. I don't write many reviews--just about businesses that are either outstandingly good or bad. Diadro Cuts ranks as outstandingly good. Why? I'm 41 and am picky. Had been going to Chicago Buzz for last 8 years (try Trish-she's good) before moving to NW Lakeview. I tried Diadro based on the Yelp reviews and to my surprise, got the best haircut I've ever had. It looked better, longer than any previous cut. And the price was very competitive. I was really happy. 2nd cut wasn't quite as good (not sure why), but just got out of my 3rd cut and it's even better than the first. What makes Diadro stand out--he has both barber (started in a barber shop) and high-end salon experience (trained at Mario Trcoci), which makes for a better overall men's cut. Most stylists don't know how to use a razor, and most barbers overuse the razor. Diadro meshes both in a way that is like art. And in my opinion, the diff between a great cut and a good one is attention to detail. Double and triple checking lengths, blending, etc. Diadro is a master at this. Add to that mobile scheduling and I've found the right guy to fit my lifestyle. Downsides: the salon that he works in is kindof feminine, but it's not a huge deal. Conclusion: I'm sold. I'll be going to Diadro as long as his location and price make it worthwhile. read more

This review is long overdue. I have been seeing Diadro for over two years now and i love him.I went to many salons in Chicago looking for someone who would understand my hair. It's crazy that for a such a diverse city a lot of salons have no idea of how to deal with hair that is not straight. Mine is curly, thick Puerto Rican hair and it was a nightmare to get it cut. I once went to a salon to get a haircut and ended up asking the girl to just cut the ends because I could feel how nervous she was about cutting my hair. I have had my hair long for many years. When i started seeing Diadro it was on the shorter side but still long enough to cover my neck and my curls where everywhere. I really like my curls and to some extent i thought they defined me somehow. After seeing him for a while i was ready to go pixie and he gave me the cutest haircut ever.
