Ordered a "Chicago" style pizza. It appears to be the same dough as their other pizza, built like their regular pizza.. sauce on bottom, cheese on top, very flat. The only thing. different was the high crust sides. Don't get me wrong, tasted like SDS which is a fine product, but a "Chicago"deep dish it is not. read more

Haven't been in a while. Went to their website found out that for 16$ I could get a large Chicago style deep dish with 1 topping on Thursday I asked if I could not get the 2 sodas and get extra sausage. Was told yes. When I arrived was told the pizza was $19.00. I said according to their website it was 16$. She explained I went to the wrong website. WWW.SDS PIZZA is not the correct website. Ordered a large cheese pizza with extra sauce and extra cheese and some of their cheesy bread. Honestly, I've had better. The pizza was just so-so. All I can say is the cheesy bread was as large as a medium pizza, I didn't care for it, low in flavor. I will order from there again as this may be the first time I didn't care for their food. SDS! PIZZA! SUPER FAST DELIVERY ON MY END! I was in town to visit my brotha at the big Miami U. It was late at night and they were open. I got a delicious pepperoni pizza that was absolutely delicious and delectable. I am a senior in hs and was looking at Northwestern. Now I am all for the real Miami U. My husband and I are both Miami grads and have been ordering SDS pizzas for about 34 years. We still live close enough to Oxford that we order SDS probably 8-10 per year and often refer parents of our kids' teammates to SDS when they're in the Oxford area for events. We usually end up in Oxford for Father's Day and/or my husband's bday because he has always loved the SDS Chicago style pizza. That said, last week my son's high school team was in a competition at Talawanda so we offered to buy pizza for the team. This was late afternoon on a weekday, so SDS was not busy. I ordered three XL pizzas and picked them up (there was an adult man working at the counter--not a college student). When we got to Talawanda we discovered that half of one of the pizzas was burnt and hard. The kids ate everything else but that half (even hungry high school kids wouldn't eat it!). I called SDS the next day to tell them about my experience and to ask for a refund or credit for just that pizza. The guy who answered the phone was clearly annoyed and said I should have called the night before and dismissively said he'd talk to the manager to see if there's anything they could do. I told him I took a photo and could text it to him so they could see what I was talking about. He said no. That was four days ago and I've received no response. So, I'm sadly here to share this review and photo. read more

I graduated from Miami years ago, so I had my share of subs and pizza from SDS. Whenever I come to visit, I don't miss a chance to get some of their food. I hadn't been back in years and on a recent visit noted some changes, like they no longer have roast beef for their subs, which is a bummer since I always got a ham and beef sub. This time I got the ham, and while I think it had less meat than in the past, it was delicious as usual. My husband got the steak sub and loved his too. The disappointment really came in with the specialty bacon cheddar pizza we ordered, with the addition of mushrooms. To say after three pieces, I saw one fleck of a mushroom and one fleck of bacon would not be an overstatement. Such a shame. (In addressing staff's comment below, we picked up our order on our way out of town and didn't eat our dinner until we were home, an hour away. We were also drinking our pop on the drive home.) We also got a large pop and after a few sips, it started to taste moldy. Either the ice machine needs cleaning or the soda machine. I would still go back, but only to eat their subs. read more

Here is my story. I went to Miami University from 1984-1988 ... graduating in 1988. I was an RA my sophomore through senior years. My college room-mate and I had the largest and best room on campus my junior and senior year ... The palatial 3rd floor king's suite in the iconic Dennison Hall with the balcony ... overlooking all of East Quad. We were kings. The size of our stately room is not necessarily germane to this review. But I just like to remind my kids that their dad had absolutely the best dorm room on the entire Miami University campus ... and if you try to claim that your dorm room was somehow better ... you are wrong. But I digress. My love affair with the SDS Turkey Gobbler began my freshman year in Anderson Hall. Much like the girl next door that you initially think is super cute, yet not quite supermodel gorgeous ... but then you realize over time that you are now deeply in love and that she is quite literally the greatest thing that has ever happened to you. The Turkey Gobbler is EXACTLY like that. Except better. I remember looking forward to my paltry RA paycheck with feverish anticipation knowing I would completely forego other necessary expenditures (like books, tuition, laundry money, gas money to travel home, etc.) and use 100% of RA salary proceeds to feed my healthy addiction to the SDS Turkey Gobbler. (I say "healthy" because the fresh tomato slices, dill pickle spear, and generous sprig of romaine lettuce that comes with the Turkey Gobbler kept me in amazing shape all through college.) I remember thinking in my dorm room back in 1985 that it would be really cool if SDS had an app where I could just place an order for my SDS Turkey Gobbler using the Apple Macintosh computer from the nerdy kid next door in my corridor (I was incredibly prescient because now I see you can order online ... SDS Management, you are welcome for my vision!) ... because calling (513) 523-1234 and hearing that horrible busy signal was the worst feeling ever. The worst. And after multiple redial attempts and fast busies (this was the days before Speed Dial and cell phones) they would finally pick up. "Turkey Gobbler please. With Provolone cheese. But this is important ... I want the mayo on the side in a little cup ... not the stuff in the squeeze packets." I am going to call SDS right after I finish this brilliant review and ask them "what was that amazing mayo you used from 1984 through 1988 on the Turkey Gobbler?" I hope they don't hang up on me. Back to the size of our palatial Dennison Hall dorm room ... by the time I graduated in 1988, our 3rd floor dorm room with the balcony was covered from floor to ceiling with those super cool SDS delivery receipt bands that they put around the outside of the SDS delivery box with every delicious Turkey Gobbler. Most people thought I was really cool because of this ... others talked behind my back but only because they were jealous. I saved them all in a box but my future wife (Miami-merger and married in Kumler Chapel on Western Campus in 1990) innocently threw them out with the trash one dark and rainy day. Many, many years later, I finally forgave her because she knew not what she had done and had no idea how valuable those SDS delivery receipt bands could be one day on Ebay. Anyways ... I am now 53 years old and not a single day goes by that I don't yearn for an SDS Turkey Gobbler. I have spent countless hours like some sort of deranged culinary alchemist trying to figure out how to replicate the SDS Turkey Gobbler. Trust me ... it is an exercise in futility. I live in Florida now and have not been back on campus in 30 years ... and I assume having one shipped in dry ice would be kind of expensive and probably not taste as good. I thought about starting a GoFundMe page to have SDS send me a free Turkey Gobbler ... but we all know those "GoFundMe" campaigns are kind of lame ... even for worthy causes such as this. I will end this review with an exact quote from novelist Jhumpa Lahiri in her seminal historical fiction "The Namesake" ... applicable to those still fortunate to find themselves living within delivery distance of SDS in Oxford, Oh: "You are still young, free ... The first time I got wings and they were overly greasy and tasteless, except for a slight buffalo taste. Just had an excellent Chef salad for dinner. Loaded with meat, cheese, tomato, egg, croutons, etc. They do not skimp...., also included 2 dressings and plenty of crackers. Husband had a yummy mushroom steak hoagie. Very courteous delivery guy. Thank you for a pleasant "take out Tuesday". Reasonable prices and easy on-line ordering. This is my first yelp review. Also, this is the best pizza I've had in years. I travel to Oxford occasionally for my work, and thought I would do takeout on my return trip home. We ordered pizza, breadsticks, and a salad. The pizza was amazing and stole the show. Everything was flavorful and went together well. The salad was also great. Breadsticks were so-so. I prefer a saltier more garlicky breadstick tbh. We have tried every pizza worth trying in Mason, West Chester, Fairfield, Hamilton, and Oxford, and this pizza wins in our book. Enjoy. read more

Buffalo Rolling Ranch pizza. This was on the menu a while back, then ended up a special, and last time I was in Oxford you had to ask, but they'd still make it. This wasn't health food: the sauce was some sort of mix between wing sauce and ranch, topped with spicy shredded chicken and a blend of cheese that belongs on pizza more often. On Mondays and Tuesdays they have a deal where any sub, chips, pickle slice, and large drink are $6.99. Plus delivery is always free. My girlfriend and I got sub deals last night and delivery took about half an hour- 40 mins. My meatball marinara wasn't the greatest I've ever had but it was pretty good. I was content after half of the sub so I put the other half in my fridge for later. Husman chips included were good. The amount of drink they give you is more than enough. Also if you pay with a card they have you swipe it with a device they bring when they deliver, which I liked more than reading my card info over the phone. read more
