We were out and hungry. As always, Yelp to rescue us!! My husband wanted Cuban and this place was only 15 mins from where we were. I ordered roast pork with tostones and congri. The meat was bit dry but tostones tasted fresh not the frozen kind. My husband ordered his usual dish, fried pork chunk with black beans and rice. We also ordered fried yuca which came with yummy garlicky sauce. The food came out fast and portion was big. My husband said his food was good. The price is reasonable and food is good. Love Senor Cafe!!! They have the Best Cuban Sandwich, their Peccadillo with yellow rice is yummy and their Oxtail is tasty!! Ham Croquettes are the bomb along with their Guava/Cheese pastries ( when they have them that is), I guess you need to go early because they never have them in the late afternoon. Empanadas are great too.. I wish we had a Senor Cafe in Lighthouse Point because their are No comparison restaurants up here!! My parents, my sister and my kids ate there tonight. We ordered 2 whole fried snappers, 1 filet of snapper, a skirt steak and chicken fingers (kids, what do they know). I love this place! I've been here pretty much every time I've visited the area, because my friend lives really close by. The food is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. I recently learned that this is because the owners also own the grocery store in the same plaza. Our last time there, I got a steak dish for lunch, and my wife got a Cuban sandwich. Both were delicious, as were my yellow and green plantains. In addition, we got their fresh-squeezed orange juice, which is very reasonably priced for the size! Being in this area of Florida, I also had to get some cafe con leche, which was nice and strong! My buddy got some breakfast food, which looked great as well. They also served some really good bread. It's sit yourself type of the restaurant. Most of the time waitress comes to you right away. The language barrier makes it difficult. They bring coffee con leche and always forget water. For the hump teen time I had to check everything on my plate was hot. Because either the potatoes are cold or the sausages. This time sausages were cold. I sent it back for reheat. It took 15 minutes to get them back because waitress took at lease orders from at least 5 tables before tending to my sausages. Why is it that the cook cannot pay attention to serving hot food. I normally sit at the counter but today I was with a friend of mine and we took a table. We had the grilled pork that had hair on it! What is that about. We asked the waitress about it and she said that's normal! Why aren't you cleaning that off the meat? I grew up in South Carolina and My grandfather raised hogs I know pigs have hair, but when you're serving it to people in a restaurant setting please make sure it's removed. A Latin cantina/diner type of place. Surprisingly modern interior, seemingly clean, and the staff is friendly. Our server did not speak sufficient English to answer basic questions, and she seemed to be unaware that you have to bring appetizers first, wait, and then bring the entrees. We tried to explain this but it was lost in translation. Otherwise she was very friendly and sweet. The food itself was on the good side. The bean soup was very nice, well seasoned. The fries were frozen, but at least freshly fried to order. I had the fried pollock, and it was delicious. Deep fried to oblivion where it was mostly evaporated, but that's comfort food for you. Tasted good. The tres-leches type 4-milk desert was not good at all. it was basically just vanilla cake mix and milk with a ridiculous amount of sugar. I would give it a shot, and we'll be back someday. read more
